This video series is absolutely inspiring! The levels of problem solving going on here. I talk to my wife everyday about the various jigs and methods you use! One question. Is it normal to remove so much of the old guitar in restoration job like this? I know. What else could you do? The guitar was pretty wrecked when you got it. I cannot wait for the conclusion of this series.

Awesome work Derek !! that white on the bottom of the body really sticks out like a sore thumb though :/ Btw I told "The Troglily's" channel that if he wanted someone to fix up his stolen gibson stuff to give you a look at to do so .. He had given some gibson guitars to a local so called luthier to fix up & the guy basically held onto them till he got the cops involved & he recovered about 3-4 gibson's I think. So hopefully he read my message on the video & checked you out here n possibly contacted you to do so for him.

What brand is your drum sander? Where did you get it? Greetings from Yucatan Mexico !!
Why use hide glue on the back instead of our usual tight bond? Is that an age correct thing? When you were match grain on the back I was confused because you then covered it up. Were you trying to match end-grain? I can see that being an issue. As always, truly love these vids amigo. Thanks so much!
@bigdguitars4 жыл бұрын
i probably could have used tight bond but since it was such a larger area I figured the hide glue was more age specific. was trying to match the end grain.
