My roommate at the New Kabul Compound in Kabul was a Royal Signals officer - his father-in-law passed unexpectedly and he was given an immediate emergency leave to return to England - he was picked up about 9pm by a detachment of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards who took him to Kabul International Airport to start the trip home. They were as competent and professional a group of men as I have met in over 30 years with the US Army.

@john jack scotland is a country on the island of britain. It is british. Also every military has its moments. Its inevitable.
@sethbennett6174 жыл бұрын
@john jack if you are going to drag this back to the dark ages then you are less correct than i am. The island we call britain was known by the celts of both england and scotland as bryton. Alba in the dark ages was used by the gaels of the highlands to refer specifically to the highlands. Not scotland, just the highlands. When the romans arrived in england they called it albion. They never called it britain. The term britain is just as scottish as it is english. It is a geographical and geological term. British is a term used to infere genetic likening. Not cultural likening. It does not imply any similarity with the english. So dont jump to conclusions.
@sethbennett6174 жыл бұрын
@john jack also i am scottish myself. And im proud of it. Im also proud to be british. For some reason lots of scots have decided to lump our hate onto the english. When in general the english are good people. Dont spit on the common english man. He has done nothing to you. If you really have to hate something then hate the upper class. And dont say the upper class is mostly english, the bit of it relevant to you is as scottish as you are.
@sethbennett6174 жыл бұрын
@john jack albion in latin means white. the romans called it albion. because the first thing they saw of the island was the white cliffs of dover. bryton is the term used by the peoples of the island that is GEOGRAPHICALLY called britain. Alba refers specifically to the highlands. aka anything north of the great glen. the south western isles are the dal riata (a term still used commonly by people nearby to refer to the area. the rest is broken up into the orkneys, shetland, aberdeenshire and the lowlands. end of. britain was not a term created by the english. it was created by the greater peoples of the british isles. and even if you want to bluntly refuse that the scottish are in anyway related to the english at all (which is bollocks you had to get to scotland by going through england) you can do that. you cannot however say that the big island off the coast of france is not geographically called britain. albion isnt an option, thats roman. you really dont have a choice. the fact is that the island is called britain. you cant deny that. sure you can spit racist nonsense and try and deny that scotland isnt connected to england. but nothing wil change the fact that scotland and england are irrevocably linked. you dont like us, which is understandable to an extent. but its also doesnt make sense. considering it was a scotsman that created the united kingdom of england, scotland and wales. so please i beg of you, just stop.
@sethbennett6174 жыл бұрын
@john jack the common english man hasnt done anything to you, him and his ancestors going back for several 100 years have been struggling to survive under the crushing weight of ridiculously high taxes and the gradually stripping of his common lands (basically and english clearances) by the snobby upper class that he loathes with an unending hatred but cant do anything about because it has pushed into a position that he cant get out of. the scottish upperclass have done more damage to scotland than the english have. and you know that to be true

When I hear a pipe band I get tears in my eyes. I really do not know why. Precisely the brass section make it complete! If I can, I make motorcycle trip through Scotland in the future. I think it already 1000x better than a beach holiday in Turkey. I know now for sure. From 0:37 part. I get goose bumps, nothing is better than analog music. PART 2 Goosebumps. Sure piece between the 37th 0:37 second and the 1:04 min. Top piece. Everything is right at my headset. Rhythm, pitch, melody, Tone, Harmony, Style, Dynamics. And believe me, I hear everything, not just the taste, situation or atmosphere can be a "match" but also technical side of the whole. I feel as if I am there. And there is the fact that it was recorded with good equipment and the acoustic situation is the finishing touch. Nothing but nothing is better than analog and acoustic instruments. I get "Goosebumps" of this. Because ultimately, it MUST all still be analog again! Let the source and everything in between, which then so be it, but this approach certainly summit of perfection. (I apologize for any translation errors) And of course, my respect for the men and women that maintain the world peace, uphold justice, and supervise.
