I have a theory. Your character... Is a murderer. Here me out. -For one, you're a child who is going out alone. Your parents are clearly able to support you, your mom sends you letters and gifts! So why would she let you go, or why wouldn't she go with you? -Your character arrives at the town with no living or work arrangements, only 1,000 bells, and generally no plan. Why wouldn't they come better prepared? -Your character is moving to a town with only animals in it. And every town we see has only animals. But very clearly, other humans exist. It seems that the humans and animals have built separate communities from each other. Maybe they live far away. So why would your character move so far? -Children in the animal crossing universe have scarily easy access to weapons. People sell you axes no problem, you can collect dangerous items to put in your home, etc. -Animals are very freaked out by your behaviour. So here's the theory: you were born in a human town. Because of your easy access to weapons, and weird behavioural patterns, you kill someone. Your family, desperate to keep you out of jail, sends you far away to an animal town where you'll be safe. No one in the town will know about what you've done.. They have to send you out as quickly as possible, so they don't have time to make any arrangements. Though they still support you from afar, sending you letters. This may even explain why the town you live in is paranormal. It's believed that your town is a burial site, because of all the gyroids you can dig up. There's also many other strange things that happen. Such as ghosts like wisp, Blanca the faceless cat, your face being swapped with a gyroid's, the alien on the tv screen, jack, and more. The reason this is so important is because of 2 things: 1. Houses and property that have had a documented ghostly experience (such as a death occurring on the land) become stigmatized. Stigmatized property sells for much cheaper than normal property. Ever wonder why your house is so cheap? Yes, it seems expensive. But it's not that much. People spend their whole lives paying a mortgage, while you spend a couple days paying your first loan. 20,000 bells is as much as a few large bass! Maybe your family wanted to give you a cheap mortgage. 2. A paranormal town? Do you think there will be 100s of people who would love to move there? A small town would attract less attention, you wouldn't have to compete for jobs, and any people who do live there wouldn't do anything about strange activity (that's the reason they're living on stigmatized property). Your family would want to move you somewhere desolate, increasing your chances of avoiding the police.

i dont really believe in this here is my theory: you blacked out for an unknown reason, and then you wake up on a chair in a vehicle (inculding train) and depending on the version your in, rover the cat greets you OR the driver of the car talks to you when you wake up. its like nothing ever happened and you cant really remember your past life, then they give you a house, money, etc etc and there were cute talking animals that distract you from your past life, and your parents send mail to you every week but you never see them... and they can never leave the town due to high cliffs and the ocean, they built the town in this place on purpose *so you could never escape back reality* but infact the child has passed out forever (dead) for an unknown reason and the town is their heaven i dont really know its just what i think

This is a theory but, what if, instead of your character being dead, you're town is built on an ancient graveyard (which would explain the gyroids), and so Blanca and Coco are vengeful spirits who, rightfully, are pretty cheesed off that a town has been built on their resting places

This is why you (the character you play) is not dead: First of all, if you’re a dead child, why are you in purgatory and not in heaven. Let me explain. A child is a child. They can’t have killed anyone or done anything mortally wrong, because even if they commit sins, he/she goes straight to heaven. Jesus himself said that once an adult/grown person stops acting like a child, he/she cannot enter heaven. But this theory gave me chills lol 😂.

I like to think of it this way: Your dead, but you mother and your friends mourn for you. Your mom is constantly leaving things at your grave and your child like mind pretends that your friends in real life are still there, even though they haven't met you yet in the game. I have a theory. That you aren't the one that purgatory is meant for, you are a gyroyd, or the thing that the child is supposed to control. You contain the child's soul. (Kinda like how Coco is a gyroid meant for containing a soul.) You name the place, and the kid, because you know them. You were made for them. You know what their name is, and you know what they would want to name their town. Now, with the train station thing, the gyroid face Is left on your face because the child finally was purified, or accepted their fate, leaving you empty. The town keeps on running like normal, to await the next soul. Thanks for reading my dumb theory.... it may or may not be correct, or even work. Thanks anyways.

There are quite a few strange and unsettling things in AC. Like, for the most part, it's just a cute, slice of life role-playing game. Then there's the little things that don't add up and make you wonder. It's one of my favorite things about the series! It leaves the door open for so many theories and stories that make playing all the more fun! And while it's probably just a surface level game with a few weird Easter eggs, the fact the creators put them in is awesome! It gives the game a lot more depth and adds a whole new level of enjoyment for the player!

(EDIT: Sorry about the length, but it's a fairly complex theory.) One of my theories is all of the animals around you, including Rover, Blanca, Isabelle, Digby, and all those other barely seen in-game characters, are actually past pets your family had, or past pets of friends families. Some could also be memories of farm animals, if you liked going to a farm, or zoo animals, like monkeys, horses, giraffes, and some when you would be outside after a rainy night, where you would see frogs, or toads, And Isabelle or Rover, depending on which game you play normally on, would be the pet(s) you had before you died, or they died within the few years you were alive. Explaining why they always greet you when you boot up the game. They are excited to see you get home, as they would in life, and want to make sure you stay happy and entertained with them, by being playful. And when they say they are getting your town ready as it is loading, they are really trying to put all of the correct memories into place when you arrive, but somehow making all of themselves unrecognizable to you, so they seem like new friends, and new animals to meet, even though, you knew them, you pet them, you interacted with them in some way or another, in your life, so you are just trapped in your animal-fueled memory, surrounded by those you loved and those who you were fascinated in.

Maybe this was the original thought behind animal crossing? And then when it got more popular, they realized this game has potential and tried to scoot away from this dark plot. If you haven't noticed, gyroids are nowhere to be found in new horizons. This could be a sign they want to move away from this plot. (This is just my thoughts! Im not crazy.)

I remember the first time I watched this I was 7 or 8. And I was already creeped out. But at 6:28, I literally threw my tablet, and run to my mom and gave her a hug. I was shaking and I didn’t wanna be alone for 2 weeks. I didn’t touch my 3DS for 1 year all because of this video because I was so traumatized lmao
