Great video, love the mix. Mine would be 7 Wonders. I bought my copy when I was living in Korea and played it with friends I met there in a Korean cafes and hotel rooms. When I got it home, my regular group feel in love with it just as I knew they would. 100 plays later it’s still one of the always enjoyable games.

Always a pick-me-up to watch your videos, thank you for all the hard work and above all your awesome energy you guys bring to every video. Games I won't ever get rid of: 1. Flamme Rouge w/ Peloton Expansion - helped us get through the worst of the pandemic. I bought a case of blue and red backed decks of cards, made custom mini decks (one blue, one red) with the same numbers as the Flamme Rouge sprinter and rouler decks, sent them to a bunch of our friends, and we played tons of races via videochat a few nights a week with different combinations of friends while I had an extra webcam giving everyone an aerial view of the course and cyclists set up on our table; 2. Barren Park w/ Bad News Bears Expansion (an etsy purchased 3D printed insert that makes it all fit in the original box doesn't hurt!) - its the game that pulled my partner into my love of board games, its also such a great relaxed game to play while having non-game related conversation, clicks so easily with friends + family that don't fluently speak/read English, and the expansion bumps it up a notch for the gamers that need a bit more thinkyness while also not requiring all players to divert from the easy base game while the gamers dig in; 4. Viticulture EE w/ Tuscany EE - everything Nick said was the same for me, and its just a labor of love at this point with having combed the internet for things I could use to replace components (glass red and white grape bunches, i've painted barrels for red wine, champagne bottles, white wine cases, rose casks, meeples, etc); 3. Mysterium - such a different style of game than most people haven't played before and its so fun to see friends experience it for the first time, its another great one for groups where english isn't someone's dominant language, and also one that really hits with non-boardgamers (particularly the creative/artistically inclined); 5. The Quest for El Dorado - the game that firmly pulled me into being a board gamer, collector, and "that" friend with tons of games who'll jump at the opportunity to teach/play; 6. Crokinole - because well its the best dexterity game, and it's actually a blast at 4 players. its also the game that'll hook those competitive friends that "dont like games" but love any typical bar game / played while drinking (like pool, darts, cornhole, horshoes, bowling, shuffleboard, etc.); 7. Wavelength - so easy, so quick to set up, definition of an "eye-grabber" of a box, one of those games that spurs conversation / provides the nudge to loosen up the least talkative, and just naturally results in hilarious moments, eventually no longer becomes about points/winning because everyone's just enjoying the discussion the game creates; 8. You've Got Crabs - completely purchased it off of your discussion/surprised love of it, and its been such a hit every time with all of our "I don't like games" friends, great when playing with friends that might not know each other that well (house rule, spouses/partners can't be on the same team and must sit on opposite sides of the table to better intercept their partner's signal); 9. The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 - the game that opened my eyes to the world of board games I had no idea existed, also just a riot of a hidden traitor(s) / finger pointing game; 10. Lords of Vegas - its my answer to the friends that have once said "Yah I like boardgames, we should play monopoly" - the right balance of luck, cunning, strategy, a touch of cut throat/take-that, and inherently provides the excitement, exclamations of joy/defeat, and shaking your fist at the boardgame gods while laughing, that resonates with pretty much everyone.

Pandemic for the same reasons you guys mentioned, it opened the world of modern board games to me, the co-op experience, the highs, the lows, and the excitement of the people playing. It's a gateway game for me and one of the games I use to introduce the hobby to friends. Another game I will never get rid of is Nemesis, it's the first game I ever backed on Kickstarter, it's given me and my group tons of enjoyment. 6 years and 100+ games later doesn't look like I'm stopping anytime soon.

LEGO's Monster 4, lots of fun memories connected to that game and my friends. Just laughing as we play the most chaotic form of tic tac toe/connect 4, and with such short matches and easy gameplay it was brought out when waiting for friends, or at the end of nights of hanging out and drinking, all enhanced by how much we hammed up the game

This was a neat list and very nostalgic for us. One game I would never get rid of is Roccoco. My husband had bought me the deluxe edition as a present before a simple surgery I had. The surgery went terribly wrong and I almost died and spent several days in the hospital without seeing him at all. (My mom took care of me; Moms rule.) Anyhow, we got to play it after surgery and it always reminds me how grateful I am to have my husband, my time on this earth, etc. :)

Great list! A number of games I don’t hear about elsewhere. Our “Pandemic” is Forbidden Desert. It’s the game that got us into the tabletop hobby and it’s the one that showed us how much fun and how engaging it can be to all work together for a common goal in a game. Since it’s mostly my wife and I, we also love games like Codenames Duet. Plenty of others, but that’s a start.

I have a copy of Balderdash printed the year I was born that my parents had in our house growing up. I also have a copy of Catan I got at a fantasy convention in 2001 when I had no idea what hobby board games were. Those 2 games were my go to games for my friends and I throughout all of high school. It was years before I got into the hobby for real, but they were still my gateway games and are some of the only things I still have from growing up.

For my ten games I'm not getting rid of, I took a different path, where I listed some pretty big games that are storage hogs, but I can't see myself ever ditching them. And I also tried to avoid listing only my favorite games and stuck with games that have other reasons to not get rid of them: 10 Godfather Corleone's Empire - This is a game that I bought at a bargain bin price, but I love. I don't know if you can even really find it anywhere. There are some things that are a little broken with the game, but it's such a fun one and a great two player experience. 9 Marvel United/XMen United - My favorite game and I have everything for it. The plastic tokens, the dumb mat, etc. And I love it. Also my most played game by a huge margin. Not even close. 8 Scythe - I have everything for this game in the big box and I love it. I typically underestimate how fun this game will be and then I play it and go "Oh right. This game rules." 7 Franchise - My evangelist game. I think this is a nearly perfect game and no one knows about it or has played it. I don't know that it saw a wide release in America? I got a copy online and am protecting it with my whole might. My perfect son. 6 Kramer/Kiesling Mask Trilogy Super Meeple editions - This is inexplicable to me.The games never get played. But I will never get rid of them. In gameplay, they are such a product of their time and feel antiquated today, but the production makes them sing and it all comes together in a weirdly nostalgic product for a time when I wasn't playing board games. It's hard to quantify, but I don't want to get rid of them. 5 Coffee Traders - The production of this ridiculous game is too much and I love it. I love the theme. Me and my friends are huge into coffee (one used to work in the coffee world,) and the fact that there are donkeys and civet cats is just wild. 4 Star Wars Rebellion - This game is seldom played but is such a good experience every time. It has ended with a Death Star attack nearly every time, and it just rules. 3 Fireball Island - This game has gotten more and more play the longer I have owned it. It is a game I pull out at almost every holiday function and it's good, malicious fun. 2 Unmatched - Star Wars Epic Duels was my favorite game as a kid and I talked to Craig Van Ness and Rob Daviau at GenCon before Unmatched launched and got to be a play tester for Unmatched and it was amazing to see the game come back alive. I can remember the effects and names of cards from Epic Duels and now can with some Unmatched cards. The game lives in my brain stem. 1 Eclipse: Second Dawn - My game group was basically founded on the first edition of this. After playing games every Thursday for a year, I became their DM for DnD. My game group are some of my closest friends and this game was a big part of it. I've played this twice since getting the new one, but that doesn't matter.

Neuroshima: Hex! will never leave my collection. When a friend and I discovered this game we played numerous times in a row, and it became an incredibly fun rivalry. We got into the theme and the strategy, and it has created some great memories. TI4 will also stay in my collection. My top 3 Overall in my closet now, very similar to you... 1. Pandemic - got me back into board games. The Cooperative experience blew my mind. 2. War of the Ring - LOTR fan. Only set I painted. An Epic game in theme and weight. Try playing while watching the movies, a marathon! 3. Viticulture - Essential - Same don't drink, but I grow some grapes. Just drawn to it as I like worker placement. Bible/Religious 1. Pillars of the Earth - first worker placement game I remember playing. 2. Commissioned. Finally, not an awkward Bible Trivia game. Very good theme fits the early church time period. 3. Designing some. I'll keep a copy of each. Classic 1. Chess/ Backgammon 2. Risk

After being heavy into the hobby for 2 years now & looking at my shelf of games which is 76 here is my list.. 1. Zombies!!!- This was my “gateway” game that I played 12 plus years ago & I loved how the board was created with tiles & got larger as the game went on. Went about my life for years not playing board games but always new I would acquire this oldy again & although it has aged, plays very well with certain house rules to fix certain flaws. 2. Tsuro- This game is pure nostalgia, first game I bought after a huge break up & I was on my own finally(wanted to get Zombies!!! But at this time I couldn’t find it locally as it was older). I play this game maybe once a year but I’ll never let it go because it was the first of my collection after being in a very toxic relationship. 3. Catan- I loved playing age of empires when I was young. This game felt similar & it’s always a crowd pleaser. 5. Carcassone- My gateway game being Zombies!!! I realized I loved tile placement games & this one was a must as I’m also a huge medieval fan & it is easy to teach & play with groups. 6. Zombicide- I used to play D&D & Gurps back in the day. Zombicide gave me the same feelings as my early game years did. Plus it plays solo unlike D&D. Still need to get Black Plague. 7. Sanctum - I wasted a lot of my teenage years playing Diablo. Sanctum gives me that same feeling in a boardgame. 8. Ark Nova- For one of my heavier games I just know it has endless replayability with such a huge deck. It’s also one of my favorite Soloable games so that’s a plus. All the others I could live without, or sell to get better versions or upgrades but i still love them.

Love this list, and it's EASY for me to put a list together for it. Two caveats: Magic the Gathering and Munchkin, as expansive collectible card games I love, I'm definitely not going to part with, I've invested too much into making my collection to part with it. I'm going to focus JUST on games that are one game (with maybe a few expansions) and that's it. The other caveat are Blank-and-Writes...I am not going to get rid of Welcome to..., I'll just use up the remaining sheets in the box and not replace it...if it's a consumable game like that, no need to put it on this list. I don't see myself getting rid of any of my games, but I guess, if I got a digital version of some of my games, I could see myself not minding letting some of them go. Games I do not see myself ever getting rid of (* denotes includes expansions): 1) This War of Mine*, 2) Evolution*, 3) Carcassonne Big Box*, 4) Wingspan*, 5) Space Base*, 6) Tokaido*, 7) Dead of Winter*, 8) It's a Wonderful World*, 9) Steampunk Rally, 10) Dice Forge*. and you know, even though I might never play it, I bought Talisman 2nd Edition when I was in college in the early 90's, and ALL of it's expansions, and they're all in one box...I just don't see myself getting rid of it, I've had it too long to part with at this point, now if it wasn't all in one box, if it filled up a shelf with all of its expansions, I'd probably get rid of them. So I guess that's one technicality. Tokaido and Evolution were two games that brought me into the modern hobby, though I've always been into board games, it was researching those games that drew me to BGG and Table Top, GameNight and The Dice Tower, so those are the only two where it's more sentimental than functional reasons why I'm keeping them.

I really like the concept of roll 'n writes, but most of them just fall short of being interesting. Rajas of the Ganges Dice Charmers makes up half of the roll n writes in my collection, currently, and I love it. It's my favorite roll n write, and I will not get rid of it. Some other games I won't get rid of: Gizmos, Potion Explosion, Eminent Domain, Awkward Guests, Rummy-O, Junk Orbit, Mystic Vale, Century Golem, Quadropolis, Steam Works, and Simurgh. I know I'm missing some, but quickly glancing over my collection, those are the ones that jump out at me.

I think games replacing themselves is a potentially interesting aspect of this. Like for me, I'll forever have some version of Thunderstone in my collection. The original Thunderstone is what first REALLY got me into the hobby, and then I fully bought into Thunderstone Advance. But I have since gotten rid of both of them for Thunderstone Quest. If 10 or so years down the road AEG puts out ANOTHER revised edition, the cycle may just repeat itself all over again!

Mike, not unlike your #2 game, the #1 game I would never get rid of is hands down the worst game in my collection. Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego is that game. My very long distance girlfriend at the time found it on eBay and brought all the way out to Japan from the states when visiting me. She knew I was fond of the IP (and games) and made space for it in her suitcase in spite of its bulky, oddly-shaped box. The game turned out to be real real bad. Many years later and, wouldn’t you know, we are getting married this weekend. Couldn’t ever get rid of it.

Would love to see a list of games that have a history to the acquisition. Maybe a kind of, “grail game” that you eventually landed. One of mine would be the Lord of the Rings; Confrontation. Not the new, crappy one with the cheat sheets and small pieces. I’m talking the older version with the much larger pieces that had the text on those pieces so you didn’t have to reference anything. It was one of the first games I ever really wanted but couldn’t find (I am a huge fan of STRATEGO and have a modest collection of them, so anything like it is a win for me!…). For YEARS I kept my eyes open for a copy (that didn’t hundreds). Finally, found a copy at a silent board game auction. Paid $20. That game will go with me in my coffin! 😜

I ethnosed that), Hardback ( the only word game I might win), Seeland ( first import game that has unique and solid mechanics), Wits and Wagers Vegas (best large group game ever).

Our dog Rosey (see my avatar) has one special, rancid, filthy little toy she will never get rid of. We clean it, restuff it, and eventually are gonna have to replace the squeaker.
