I made it. I live in a dry place so next time I'll use 350g of sugar instead of the 400 (plus the 100 with the tylo powder), other than that it came out smooth and very nice. Soon I'll do some work with it. I'm excited.

It is lovely to work with and you can roll it out tissue paper thin. I prefer to use this to any commercially available modelling paste - even for figurines. Just know that with paper thin flower petals, it is very fragile - but they look so amazing and life like.

Ok I got it ... Did a bit of research Vegetable shortening is a white, solid fat made from vegetable oils. In the UK it is sold under the brand names Trex, Flora White or Cookeen. In Trinidad we have the brand Cookeen 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹

Hi Lou, thank you for this detailed how-to for flowerpaste/gumpaste😁 I started my cakery almost 7 years ago and attempted to make flowerpaste a few times (Nicolas Lodge Edna Cruz etc) and they were not quit the consistency which I was hoping for. Of course the weather conditions are, in the US versus GB (or the Netherlands were I am) not similar and that is a mayor factor to consider. Over the years I tried different brands, and like you mentioned, one is too soft, others too dry. I tried your recipe and it came out perfectly, every time! It has that perfect balance between work time and drying and is very flexible. And it takes in colors or dry dusts very smoothly😉👍 Thank you again for sharing! Greetings from across the pond 😉Tamara

@BostonBorn6 жыл бұрын
adaora essiet egg white powder is the same as merengue powder (it also has cornstarch and stabilizers but, will act the same), it’s sold at Walmart and is reasonably priced. I wouldn’t recommended the use of egg whites as they can contain salmonella unless cooked or pasteurized. Amazon also sells powdered egg whites but, I’ve found that to be a bit pricey. Good luck.

Pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds - or use your hands to warm it up - and knead it well - it feels hard the next day but a bit of warmth will have it back to stretchy in no time!
