I've had a rough journey with my hands. I had trigger finger surgery and, you're right, it can come right back even if actively going to physical therapy for heat, massage, scar tissue take-down, etc. I do highly recommend overnight splinting. For me, that puts my fingers to rest in a more meaningful way. The inflammation and swelling that tends to occur during the day will go down overnight with adequate rest. It doesn't cure the problem, but it makes my daytime hours far better. I start the morning with no issues and by bedtime I'm starting to feel the problem. I just feel like splinting calms it enough so that it doesn't advance to worse issues. I have a little finger impacted by wrist surgery and then trigger finger surgery on my ring finger, and that little finger now is in a permanent bend that even the therapist could not resolve. I do the "praying hands" maneuver to keep the tendons stretched and the problems from worsening. I start with hands together overhead and slowing bring them down to my chest in a praying hands position. It's the easiest way for me to give my fingers a good stretch. Its also easier for me to hold that stretch position for a couple of minutes.

I AM SO GLAD I STUMBLED ON YOUR VIDEO HERE ON KZbin. Woke up one morning and was having trigger thumb and my metacarpophalangeal joint was tender/painful with deep pressure associated with snapping and locking up of my interphalangeal joint in hypereextension. Very very frustrating to say the least and had to do some research. After watching your video and doing the stretching of my thumb, I saw immediate relief in terms of less snapping and not locking up in hyperextension of the interphalangeal joint of my thumb. I still need to get the brace to use at night and the tool to break the adhesion. Guys, what he is presenting in this video is spot on. Thank you Adam for sharing this video.

Dr- I had the contracture (trigger finger) . I addressed it immediately. I woke up during the nite , and found my finger bent over , it was painful, like cramping. In the morning I soaked my finger in epsom salts with very warm water for about 3/4 hr. I also manipulated the finger, restoreed it to a normal straight position. I could use it, but it was skewed to my little finger. I had it looked at by a hand specialist surgeon. He prescribed use of Xiaflex -2 injections. This was performed, and the skewing of the finger was gone. I wore a splint at night, and had exercises. had one therapist appointment, and my treatment was complete. My finger is normal in all ways. I am surprised you did not mention Xiaflex , but did surgery. I would of availed myself of the non intrusive treatment if I would of known of it. Thank You for the treatment option.

I did my research and found out that taking vitamin coenzyme vitamin B6, P-5-P (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate) 50mg - 3 times a day along with Chelated Magnesium (as magnesium glycinate) for absorption, cured my trigger thumb! From my research they said you have to take this for the minimum of 6 months to start working. Well, 6 month and 2 weeks later my trigger thumb totally cleared up, seems like overnight! I'm cured, and just last month my hand doctor said he thought I should have the surgery to fix my trigger thumb! My trigger thumb was really bad, had to splint my thumb 24 - 7. Anyways, this worked for me, even though my doctor didn't believe me!

I'm so lost for words right now. I've had problems a few times with the trigger finger. One time I had the ball on my palm and couldn't straighten my finger it hurt so much. My diet was the American diet. I gained 35lbs so I decided to change my lifestyle. On a carnivore/keto diet. Eliminating all sugar and bad carbs eating about 20 to 30 carbs a day. But making healthier choices. At times I would eat one treat sugary carb but nothing drastic. I'm telling you last night I decided because I'm doing so well I thought I would splurge one day. I hate alot of sugary sweets and carbs. I'm paying for it so much this morning. I'm only 40 yrs old. I lift weight daily. Not today. Both of my knees are inflamed walking up the stairs hurts and my trigger finger painful can straighten it. I can feel all the water retention in both legs. It's crazy how bad food like bad carbs and sugary sweets flared all this and become weak and miserable. I tell ya I won't be eating bad like this, this much again. This is insane. Makes me question all these people suffering with arthritis etc if yiu change your food the pain will go away. Like I said when I started carnivore/keto my pain amd inflammation went away. I thought I would share to help someone. Am truly in shock right now. This isn't the first time, I did this eating bad about a month ago and I was paying for it. So I know now for sure it's the food. I've had a snapping ring finger in my right hand for most of my adult life. I've done hand massages and stretching, but found using a massage gun on my palm the most effective. My ring finger is no longer catching and the palm of my hand no longer constantly hurts.. I started with using the massage gun morning and night and once the tendons loosened up I eased off to once a day to using it once or twice weekly. It feels wonderful to have a totally relaxed hand after so many years of tension and pain in my palm.
@arifkuyucu10 ай бұрын
Dude would you like to share a link about your massage gun please? any special name or brand?
@dulcilass10 ай бұрын
@@arifkuyucu MY massage gun doesn't have a brand name on it. I got it a few years ago for about $60 from Walmart. It came with 4 different head attachments; a round ball (the one I use on my hand), a single pronged head, a two pronged head, and a flat head. It has several vibrating (pounding) speeds. I normally use the slowest and next speed up.

@dulcilass5 ай бұрын
@@boltnut55 I don't have a set amount of time I use it daily. Sometimes I'll do two long sessions a day until the massage gun shuts itself off. I target the entire length of my ring finger going up and down the stretched out finger. I also hit the area just below where the ring finger attaches to the hand. The tightness of tendon at that point forms a indention or valley in the palm. I concentrate on the finger and palm of the hand and don't try using it on the back of the hand across the knuckles. That hurts.

Sometimes the reason for the buildup of the scar tissue is due to a uric acid. Uric acid buildup can be caused by certain prescription drugs, like clopidogrel (Plavix), which has a similar impact on the joints to gout. To eliminate the buildup of uric acid, some supplements can be taken, like malic acid, or tart cherry juice.

You don’t need to run out to buy a splint . Just wrap a piece of white medical adhesive tape around the middle joint , not too tight . That will keep your finger from flexing . A bandaid works as well .

I continued w/o soda drinks and after a month maybe 5 weeks, troubles in that finger went away. I just had trigger finger release surgery for the clicking issue I had with my pinky finger. I play guitar, and it is my fretting hand that is the issue. What do you recommend post-surgery to have a full recovery with full range of motion for my pinky?

I decided to give this a try because what else do i have to do since getting an appointment with a GP is such a metric pain in the ass, it burned like high hell, but after the 2 minutes, it did give me quite a bit of relief, i'll likely reply to myself here tomorrow to say if the relief continued

so far the stretch seems to have kept the issue at bay.

A popsicles stick and two bands. I now have an Oval 8 splint for my thumb. It is working out very well, and it is easy to keep clean.

Great post! when you say 'too long', do you define that in time or experience? What I mean by this is I've dealt with this for years in both hands assuming it was just my service career [Airframe repair tech]; pneumatic rivet guns and metal bucking bars play havoc on hands. While they haven't permanently locked, I do have to release them using the opposite hand.

Thank you I recently noticed my middle finger sticking and it would snap and unlock when I would extend my finger. Google search said it was trigger finger so a KZbin search brought me to this video. I really appreciate you taking the time to put this information out there. I ordered the splint and have started doing the stretching exercises. How many times throughout the day should I do this exercise and is there a limit to how many times I should do it per day?
