Don't be afraid of the 1/2 marathon. I'm 62 year old man,200 lbs,who had a minor stroke 3 years ago. I ran 3 1/2 marathons in the last year. Although slow, I did it. Around 2:57. Started training for another one for October 2024 with a goal of 2:00 hours. If I can do it anyone can do it. Take walking breaks. No shame in that.

I actually came back to rewatch this video because it’s such a beautiful reminder of how we should enjoy our runs and celebrate our bodies every step of the way. I find myself getting caught up in pace or competing which really takes away some of the joy. Thank you for the reminder of what’s actually important in running the joy, the community, the love, and the support we give one another & ourselves 🥰💛

I've started my running journey the past 2 1/2 months and trying not to track my pace is so hard! each time I get caught up with working on my pace I instantly remind myself to relax and just continue to enjoy running b/c it is beautiful and so fulfilling!

not tracking pace is gamechanging and helps you be so much more present!!! I didn't use a watch pretty much my whole training and didn't even wear one during the race!

The only thing that I have to do is check my pace because I'm a quick runner (5.5/km) so I can do 5k easily, but as soon as I get past that, at that speed, I tank. So during training for longer I will have to check my pace and forcibly slow myself down to about 8/km at least. The music sometimes gets me too hyped. 😅

Hi I loved your video and I have a question I recently started running and I had to walk a lot for my outdoor running of 15mn but when I tried a 20mn indoor run it was perfect how do I improve into outdoor runs? (Sorry I'm french I don't know if I speak correctly)

so glad you enjoyed!!! maybe the reason it's easier for you to run on the treadmill is because the streets/outdoor spaces have more inclination/less straight paths, just keep it going and it will get easier!

Thank you this is so helpful!! I just signed up for a half in April too 🥲 question - did you carry on your other workout routine? I love yoga, boxing, and usually do weightlifting 2-3x a week. I’m not sure if i should decrease the weights im lifting or frequency of workouts

Yes! When I was training I did running and some strength training! But yoga and mobility are so important too :) I will say though, running training for a race does require you to do more running than other workouts so you can build endurance!!
