Definitely the holy Eucharist should be given on the tongue. Not everyone can kneel though. I was in a local monastery for mass last week and I held out my tongue to receive, the priest said to me hands please. I was mortified but continued to hold out my tongue. It was like a Mexican stand off. Unintentionally though. I couldn't budge cause I was so embarrassed. He eventually shoved the holy Eucharist into my mouth on disgust. Talk about wanting the floor to swallow me up! 😢

I recently visited a Church in Ireland, in a city where I hardly ever am, and the Priest put out a 'Kneeler' for Holy Communion. Not all used it, but still it was nice to have the choice. Praise God.

@@MusicMaker_007 Yes, they have been doing that in a FEW churches here in the U.S. I rejoice heartily when I get to recieve kneeling and on the tongue. There are also a FEW churches that use the whole communion rail that hasn't been demolished. One church I know installed a communion rail in the Novus Ordo church. Then there are some Novus Ordo churches that pitches a fit if it is even suggested to put ONE little kneeler up front.

My sister belongs to a church where they do the same thing. More and more women are wearing the veil as well. She said Eucharistic ministers don’t give out communion anymore, only the priest and Deacon do. But they will give out the blood when offered.

We catholics who believe in the real body and blood present in the holy Eucharist, have to stand up more for receiving communion on the tongue and at an altar rail if it is available. I believe the church has gone way off the rails in this matter. As Father said in his sermon, it was started out as a trial period perhaps and then automatically for some unknown reason, perhaps the devil's influence, everyone began receiving in the hand. I read a study where reception of the holy Eucharist in the hand has led many people to casually accept communion not really believing that the actual body and blood of Christ is present in that white host. Well reading some of the Vatican II documents, I read that the intent was to modify the Latin mass in order to make it more relatable to the people. Many parts of a mass were supposed to be kept either in Latin or in the translation from the Latin. Somehow, we have wound up with the novus ordo which is a total 180° direction from the reverent, ancient and beautiful Latin mass.

I believe this priest has been to Medjugorje and gave a great talk about it. In any case, Father if you see this comment, if you can put in some kneelers for the people to receive Holy Communion and put the altar boys back to work holding a paten (like the old days), you will be further blessed and it will be the start of bringing reverence back for Our Lord in the Eucharist. If you watch Presence, you will see in the early years of the church how a young boy directed by the priest would bring the Eucharist to those in prison, where the priest was not able to reach everyone. I think of those who brought Jesus' body down from the cross , i doubt if they were priests. An EMHC is the Body of Christ (as we all are) giving the Body of Christ to the Body of Christ. I think of all the times that Jesus touched people. How wonderful it is to carry His body.

Yes!!! I am seeing more in my church receive on the tongue. Some men drop to the knees on the hard floor. I’ve asked our pastor if he could supply a kneeler. He won’t do it. He says he won’t make people - especially old people - think they have to kneel. Strange thinking if you ask me. I think one day he’ll change his mind.

As an old person with very damaged arthritic knees I can’t kneel nowadays but if a kneeler was put in front of me at Communion I would happily kneel lightly for a few seconds, holding on to the top of the kneeler for support and to get myself back up. 🙏🏻

My mother did want not to receive holy communion without the rail as she thought she would not be able to get up. I told her it is the posture of our hearts that is more important than the posture of our bodies. All done with love , respect and worship. Kneeling or standing, we worship and love the Lord.

I received my First Holy Communion in 1967 in Holland. We received it in the hand. Immigrated to New Zealand a month later and started receiving on the tongue. Fast forward to the early 70's and NZ started giving it in the hand. I never lost my faith but I started to go to an other church. Fast forward to 2022 I returned to The Catholic Church,an answer to my parents prayers they died 12 + 16 months later In 2023 I was convicted me start wearing a veil AND take Communion on the tongue. It feels so beautiful and the emotions I feel compared to in the hand is indescribable Please EVERYONE take Communion on the tongue you won't regret it.

I witnessed something beautiful yesterday. As I am housebound at present I follow Mass from Our Lady of the Gulf church in USA. The PP Fr Mike O’Connor is a wonderful preacher and teacher. Yesterday at Communion a young couple each with a young child in their arms went up to receive. They knelt at the priests feet and received ón the tongue and he blessed the babies. It was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. I noticed that a lot of those present also received on the tongue. And this was at an early Mass at 8am their time.

My church just re-installed our Altar rail. We receive on the tounge on our knees. Unfortunately we still have EM but fewer and fewer folks are standing in there lines! I am 60 so receiving on knees on tounge is natural to me, remember many have never received this way...and it feels awkward to them. Encourage people in there 30 an 40 to try, then they will teach there children. 🙏🏻

This really moved me. The fact that this wise and holy priest felt convicted by the Lord to give this message; the gentle and careful way he did it while speaking with such inspirational conviction! The fact that these are the truths of our faith and they matter and if we do not speak in this way the people will not know that they matter and they will act accordingly - sinfully - sacrilegiously! Here in Cyprus, at St. Paul's Chapel, during the Polish Holy Mass at 10:00 am every Sunday, the Polish have amazing reverence to the Holy Eucharist . Everybody receives the Holy Eucharist by the tongue and each one has to kneel down before the priest prior to receiving. What an act of reverence in sight! As a Filipino catholic I was challenged to do so. It only takes a minute to do this act of homage to the Holy Eucharist. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

'taking by tonque' taking by hand. we are 'Receiving the body and blood of Christ. all laity are not supposed to self communicate ..in other words , I do not go into the ciborium and 'take' a host for my self. However we are then commissioned by the priest to assist in distributing to others. I love carrying the body of Christ, I always remember how the people brought Jesus down from the cross.

The reality is that receiving Holy Communion in the hand should always be an exception, as established by the Church, and not the norm, which is what it has become, outside of all norms. Receiving Holy Communion in the hand is conducive to the constant sacrilege of the body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord, not only because the Sacred Hosts are stolen, but because of all the particles of our Lord that remain in the hands and then fall to the ground or to the clothing.

As well as receiving on the tongue, priests ought to brief the congregation every Mass to let people know that if they are non-Catholics, they can come for a blessing. In the Orthodox Church, priests know you and your name, and refer to you as you are about to receive Jesus, so this would also help. I was taught how to receive Holy Communion in the hand at Catholic school, but I like the Orthodox way of receiving on a spoon. Thanks be to God that Jesus was brought back to church. Also, I was at the Vatican in Rome years ago and a young woman whispered to her friend that she wasn't Catholic but would receive Holy Communion because God would forgive her anyway. I shot her a look that said 'don't you dare!' because I couldn't believe my ears. Thank you for this teaching. Lord have Mercy.

We need more priests like this man who recognizes how the Holy Eucharist is desecrated mostly out of ignorance due to a lack of catechesis on Jesus' Real Presence.

A very serious matter! Indeed, if I had my way, I would make it a `rite` of the Mass for every communicant to profess their full belief in the Real Presence BEFORE they go up to receive Holy Communion. The priest must say: "Let he who truly believes come up to receive our Lord in this Eucharist; but let he who doubts NOT go up to receive, `For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgement on himself`".

It is the priest's duty to convince church members that the host is truly the body, blood, soul and divinity of christ not just through words but through his personal behaviour towards the host. When he shows them how to reverently receive the son of god through kneeling in humility as repentant sinners and receiving on the tongue with reverence and gratitude for the honour of receiving our lord. A holy priest will know this. If the angels prostrate eternally at the throne of god and visionaries fall to their knees in reverance and humility at being in the presence of the divine we need to do the same before the presence and honour of receiving the king of kings and the lord of lords with every precious host 🙏
