Politics aside, metal has always been about confronting the evils of the world. About grabbing the nearest torch and pushing back against the darkness. About forging strength in the fires of adversity. Throw up the horns for those who fight for their homeland, for those forced to leave their lives behind, and for the artists who give voice to their plight! 🤘

The song was inspired by the events of 2014, when Tati was 27. They were touring and wanted to return home but the conflict that started around 2013 in the Ukraine stopped them. When they did manage to get back to Donestsk, where they had lived since they were children, the band feared for Tati's safety and got her to move to a city by the Polish border.

Based on latest news Kyiv is relaitively safe and will be. Ukrainian counterattack pushed back russian forces so they are too far to hit the capital city with their artillery. Isolated bodies in a boudoir of helplessness A bullet is an early bird, a midnight owl Morning greetings of a rooster are replaced With fire in a hole, fire in a hole My dear, do we have to go to sleep like that? With a soothing cocktail and the hundredth cigarette Morning greetings of a rooster are replaced With fire in a hole Our beds are cold As cold as basement floor Our beds are cold As cold as basement floor This house is not our shelter anymore This house is not our shelter anymore This house is not our shelter anymore Anymore Home is not a building Home is liberty A place where memories live In prosperity and peace I came back home so I want my home back I came back home so I want my home back Don't you leave us homeless Don't you leave us homeless Homeless, homeless genius.com/Jinjer-home-back-lyrics

May latest knowledge from a few weeks ago is that Tati is in the US with her husband (she was on holiday, when the invasion started), the rest of the band is in Kyiv. It is hard to imagine that Jinjer wrote this song before the Invasion, because it feels like it was in response to it. Yet it is no surprising at all, Jinjer is originally from the Donbas region and they basically became refugees after the 2014 invasion. They already had first hand experience of what they sing about here and sadly have to go through it all again (this it is even worse of course). I hope we will hear them play again one day and that they do get their Home Back.
