I think you need a soft green on the woodwork so that the colors on the wallpaper and bed stand out in contrast. The pink paint shades scream for attention but the wallpaper and bed should be the stars of the show.

I am beyond delighted to see the progress of the chapel (I have watched clips in a bit). When Stephanie walked into the chapel and started speaking enthusiastically in French.....I felt all the words she spoke, even the I only have a tiny knowledge of the language. Well, the good news is that Amaury will take the time and repair the wall so you won't have to worry about it in the future. You asked for opinions and I think that you need to paint the trim the same color as the cream color of the background of the wallpaper. That room is too small to have all of the shades of pink on the trim, it will look busy and even busier if you plan on putting up a border with the stripe, that is my Interior Designer opinion!!!

It may have been the artificial lighting inside the building. That made the colors look different, so take the samples out into the sun and look at them there. Because your Chateau is full of natural light. I'm a floral designer and I often take flowers outside into natural light to actually see what the undertones are.

Picking paint colours is very tricky and lighting plays such an important role. I work at a store where I mix paints for customers and I always try to recommend looking at the paint chips outside, precisely because our lighting is very artificial and unlike what people usually have at home. It was good of them to try it though, because the colour difference between wet paint in a container and fully dry on the wall/wood can be huge. Unfortunately in this case it didn't work out that way.

What happened to sanding down and prepping the skirtings and doors, takes me a day with the sander and washing it all down after. You were painting when Amuary was pulling off plasterboard, looks slapdash to me. great wallpaper though bubblegum pink as you say is slightly bright.

The color is so bright. If you’re looking for that warm and cozy vibe go with soft greens or muted blues. I think you would be so much happier with those colors. I know I would prefer to stay in a room with anything but pinkish orange❤

I have learned (with certain things!) to expect the worst and then you won't be disappointed! Now that may seem defeatist, but it does save some of the inevitable disappointment. In your case, but really, in most redecorating scenarios, there are bound to be issues. Then the "Pollyanna" side can shine: it is SO good that you found the issue and the talented Mr. Amaury can make sure it is all good, repaired properly, and on you go. The paint color is hideous. I think a calming sage-y green would be better. Then the fabric will really pop vs the paint color damaging the retinas. It would also bring the outside in a bit since you can see into such a distance. You will make the right choice in the end! Stay Calm and EAT CAKE!❤

Don't you have to prepare...clean the walls etc. the whole room before painting etc...? Why not painting the door at the end after you've finished the room ? It's a small room, choose colours wisely, otherwise who has to stay in the room can be overwhelmed 😅

I'm an interior designer and when I paint I take a piece of paper bag and prime it white and then paint the color I selected on the paper bag then pin the bag to the wall inorder to make sure it's the right color before I paint it on the walls. It takes a little bit of time, but so well worth it. Paint changes color according to the lighting in a room. You pick out a color in a paint store that has commercial lighting in the store and you go home with residential lighting in your rooms therefore the paint will be a different color. It's best to go out in the sunlight to pick your colors. Good luck painting and most of all have fun. Love from Cajun country in South, Louisiana.

Neither color goes with the headboard at all, however you need to put a wall paper sample of the wall too as I think all three clash, maybe something to go with the green in both prints and discards pinkish colors altogether. I actually didn't think the wallpaper went with the headboard either but I trust you all can sort it beautifully!

As another favorite KZbinr of mine observed after a disaster, the recovery will make good footage. As for old homes, are renovating our 180 year old home here in the States, which we consider “old”, and no wall or floor can be opened up without some major issue coming to light. It is the lot of all renovators.

Shame about the colour... but the room is very small and a strong colour is very overwhelming in the space, especially when you're using a contrast trim. I suggest using the wallpaper background colour for the wood trim, that way if you don't like it... well it can be the undercoat. Then use a very, very pale/ just a hint of colour for the trim around the panels. Any darker colour makes the door/skirting boards the feature of the room and not the wallpaper. Happy painting! ❤🦘

Anyhow, welcome to the "wrong tone paint color club"! We had a mess with green tones in my kitchen and a big confusion with the cream and yellows in our dining room, the paint was lighter when dry, the light coming from the windows made the paint look different, I don´t know!. We end up buying small cans of the color we wanted and then tried on the wall until we found the right shade!!

I think the ‘pink’ paint on the door might look quite different once the wall paper is done. I think you look rather peaky Stephanie, you must look after yourself and rest in between trips away and then charging straight into the next project. You must try the paint color sample in the room if you want it to work to your liking. Check samples in the room's light at different times of the dayl. Then you can be sure what color hue to choose. Good luck!

I understand your frustration. My niece and are doing an older home, painting, cleaning, refinishing floors. First we hired a terrible painter.. Half his work has to be redone. Now we hired a painter that I can tell is going to be excellent. Some things we just can't afford to do right now because unexpectedly we had to buy new appliances. I looked back at the previous vlog and the fringe on the lamp in the room seems to be the right colour. It won't take up visual space that the stronger pink does , as the room is small, but will add a delicacy that green wouldn't. I think that colour would provide the romantic vision you're looking for. If you have some white paint of the same type, you might try adding a little of each of the pinks to it and mixing your own colour.

A thought- if you have some brown paint leftover from a different project, try mixing a little bit at a time into the pink(s). I have mixed my interior wall colors like this. I rescued many a hideous colors! I like an old-world look: where the wall color feels settled-in. I got so frustrated- thinking colors looked natural but were florescent. I tried the daylight trick, too, and it didn’t help me out. So brown was the pigment that did the trick. I hope this helps and works for you! If anything you’ll have a color you can use for a small project in the future. :) happy weekend!

In two of the past vlogs the cemetery has been mentioned. Keys were found while cleaning storage along with other keys in a small case. I imagine the keys would go to the gate or vault doors at cemetery family plot. I wish Stephanie would go there make a vlog. Put flowers on the grave of the little one lost; whose memory caused the chapel to be built. Maybe Henri's grave would also be there!

How about using white on the doors, or the background color of the wall paper. Then outline the door panels in one of the other colors in the wall paper or headboard. Then a "match" doesn't need to be perfect. You could more easily change the color once the wall paper is up.

Bring paint chips home and then bring a small sample of paint home. Then if you like it, then do the whole wall. Pinks always go more pink.

I’m sorry, Stephanie and Philip that you are frustrated. The way the room turned out. Not being able to accomplish the work that you had intended to accomplish today. And yes, once you get into it, there’s usually five other projects that come up before you can actually finish the room. That is true for every homeowner but it’s got to be worse if you are on a château, you got so much more space more room, some more nooks and crannies. It’s got to be an amazing feat. The rule of thumb with house paint is that it dries darker - I always remember that it’s the opposite of clothing, which dries lighter than the wet clothes. So if you’re wanting it darker, maybe you’ll get a better result tomorrow. As for the lilac pink, I see it (on the computer screen) as being compatible with the lilacs on the headboard. Everything may look different in person, but never fear, you’ll get it right in the end! ❤

Seems like that is true for any kind of renovation in any home. Everyone needs an Amaury who doesn't get flustered by what is needed, and just wants it done right. I would suggest a shade of green to match the fabric. It will look great when all is done in the room.
