The Chateau Diaries

4 жыл бұрын

The chateau is a hive of activity, with Mummy and Dan sheep catching and chicken fencing, Selmar repairing chairs, Ian bringing pews for the chapel, and Tomaz, Emily and Marie cooking up a storm! As if that weren't enough activity, Nic, Marie and Antoine return for the summer, and we enjoy a glamorous night at the opera!!!
The Chateau Diaries Episode 149 ✨🏰✨
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This channel follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
We show you what life is like in an ancient chateau in the heart of the French countryside, and the diy, renovations, crafts, cooking and gardening that are needed to bring a home like this to life!
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. You have made The Chateau Diaries one of the top 500 Patreon accounts in the world, and have transformed not only out lives here, but the future of this beautiful chateau! I’m overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will continue to survive and flourish because of you, thank you!!!

I was so inspired by the baby peacocks that I got three babies for my farm. My male is named Figaro after the Mozart opera. The girls are Mimi and Brunehide. Opera and peacocks --a natural marriage.

I lived in a huge old apartment in the town of Nimes in south France and the toilet was in a small turret tower that was off the bathroom. One night I was in my bath soaking when a young man, a friend of my friends son, came in, said 'bonsoir madame', went into the toilet, did what he did, came out and said again 'bonsoir madame' and left. I was pleased that an 18 year old was so polite but next day I put a lock on the door !!!

🐥 Yes, I wondered about the fencing. Although Dan gets an "A" for effort. Thought it seemed pretty miraculous that chooks don't have any predators in France. No way can they roam free in our more rural parts of Los Angeles. Even peacocks have to be tucked in at night for their safety. We have major birds of prey flying about as well as a big variety of 4 legged predators here too. They are active day & night. My friend fashioned an outdoor portable cloche type cage that pops over the top of a couple of birds. They've been hand raised, so you don't have to chase them around. It is fine contraption for temporary use when they are supervised. They love to look for grubs. Their actual pen is an enclosure w/a coop. It also has a roof & buried hardware cloth around the perimeter, so animals can't dig their way in.

@Yol Maiv Mais oui! M. Reynard is famous. He is quite the literary figure. The stories are largely concerned with the main character Reynard, an anthropomorphic red fox and trickster figure. His adventures usually involve him deceiving other anthropomorphic animals for his own advantage or trying to avoid their retaliatory efforts. His main enemy and victim across the cycle is his uncle, the wolf Isengrim (or Ysengrim).
