I don't think the Chicks ever performed this song better than this. It's better than the studio recording. Their ability to perform live is off the charts. The rest of the band too. So much talent here. The steele playing is sooo good. Then Marties fiddle playing. No words to describe it. Then you have Natalies voice. This performance is a perfect 10 !!

You are probably right. And the Chicks could attract the best Talent. I see renown guitarists Keith Sewell, David Grisson, and Audley Freed, and others. It's curious that on their 2016 tour, the Band was half the size as in 2006. But I didn't notice any diminution of Sound Quality.

Lloyd Maines' solid pedal steel guitar playing on this song is essential to how great it sounds. He is the perfect musician for this group, always playing exactly the right notes at the right time, never showing off and making the tune swing and soar as only a master can.

So I'm gonna be honest...I heard of this song for the first time about a week ago, and didn't listen to it for the first time until today. I'm singing this song with some other people in a musical revue at my school, and now that I've heard it, I can't help but think: what a beautiful song!! I'm so glad my director chose me to be in the ensemble for this.

my favorite part is 3:33 after the final chorus when they repeat the "closer to you." It starts with Natalie and Emily (mid and lower voice). Then Natalie and Marty (mid and higher voice). Then the camera zooms to all of them and their voices just open a floodgate of energy as they all sing their perfect harmonies. I like how Emily is the only one who changes her voice up and down on the "me" which adds nice subtle movement. Amazing! It all makes the hair on my neck stand up

Mabe Vallejo Chávez they were huge until the lead singer said on stage that she was ashamed of president bush for invading 2 countries. the country-western crowd killed their careers for that......

+AJ-Gigi was she? chemical weapons shipped to Syria and later discovered in remote parts of iraq that has given us service members cancer? toppling a dictator that was torturing and gassing his own people who had once already invaded Kuwait. that would have been like beating Hitler back to Germany and then hoping he never tries again and let him continue on with the Holocaust. Taking on a radical government in Afghanistan harboring terrorist that attacked America was wrong? I suppose given the people utilities and women an education was a bad thing too. No the only reason why things are so bad and Isis exist today is because there are Americans who worry to much about our image. if you want to eradicate evil you must search it out to the ends and not try to look politically correct in war. it's to bad the dixie chicks went down the drain but with the right of freedom of speech you can express with no repercussions from the govt. however you run the risk of angering the people that buy your product
