The industrial building on Strand Road in Preston, that you asked about, under Dick, Kerr & Co., later English Electric and then BAE Systems, built electric trams and railway locomotives, and even early jet aircraft during WW2, among other things. Far too long and storied a history to go into here.

MrFish, absolutely loved and enjoyed this trip, will probably never get to ride those roads, I never got to pass my bike test, but to scratch the itch I bought a leaning trike it’s a Peugeot Metropolis 400cc which I ride as often as I can, and I get a few nods off of bikers which I appreciate, so thanks guys, keep em coming MrFish..

Do you need to hand in your Manley card after all that moaning? I picked up a little Honda farm bike about 2.5 months ago at the start of spring down here. I hitched a ride in a truck to collect it. After a check over, replacing a few bits and getting everything done to get it on the road (WoF, Rego, $$$) I hit the road home 350km away. Well the first half was a blustery side wind of about 70km/h (100km/h gusts) that blew me right off the road several times. The second half the wind changed to a head wind, of much the same speed, straight up from penguin land with rain and hail. It was a pretty slow trip as the bike hit the rev limiter at 75km/h so I generally held it around 70km/h. This was my first time riding since 1988 and the smile has not left my face since.
