I placed an order after you review this bike (I mean first impression). This bike is not so photogenic, it looks ugly in picture and video but it's a good looking bike in a flesh. Set to go head to head with the Versys 1000’s. Will probably do very well with all the loaded tech and DCT. But maybe it would do even better if Honda gave us a shaft drive as well (just like they used to). Not much better looking than a Dullville, but then again most adventure tourers are about as sexy as Ford Mondeo’s. Still, for munching up those miles, I’d certainly have one !

She is reliable, Euro designed and built in Belgium, been very reliable over 260,000kms! But the Beemer - should be relative to this video, also has great fuel economy at 4.8L/100kms or about 60mpg! My bike is a an R1200R lc and is about the same weight and I felt this Honda was less bulky than the wide at the bottom Beemer. Screen was the best I've ever tried in 50 years of riding! Thanks for the ride and review. I have a 2020 ATAS ES and have been wondering if swapping for the NT1100 would be right for me. You see I discovered after buying my ATAS that I don't really do much off road riding. So why have a bike with all that offroad technology? Why not have an Africa twin that has been engineered for the road, where I spend almost all my riding? The only drawback is that if I end up in a construction zone that is 20 miles of rough muddy gravel, I'd miss my ATAS and not sure how well the NT1100 would do on it. I used to have a BMW C650GT scooter and loved it, so maybe not such a bad thing.

I can't understand the need to compare the NT1100 to the Africa Twin they are completely different bikes for different purposes. Both happen to share a brilliant engine and both have the real game changer DCT option. Honda are onto a clear winner and it is also very good value for money.

Good review again , I have the Rebel 1100 and a new 2022 super cub coming from Dobles in Coulson but I am too short for the NT1100 so my choice of the Rebel is a keeper, it is a shame the EMU from the Africa Twin is not fitted so you need to watch those changes on bends with the DCT, I have now fitted the batwing screen to the Rebel and apart from the range it is a tourer for me. The 125 Super Cub is a runabout and a fun bike as I intend to do the NC500 this year with it just for fun. I saw your review on the Rebel which swung the choice for me last year and dropped lucky with Dobles as they had the right bike as a cancelled order so it only took 8 days to have it sitting at my door. Keep up the good work with your reviews I understand the new Honda thinking with a bike built to a price but retaining the quality by using established engines and concepts, electric screens costs a lot more shaft drives raise the price too much, and keeping the panniers slim allows the filtering.
@Geshmaal2 жыл бұрын
I think this bike's closest rivals are the R1250RS, Versys 1000, V-Strom 1050 and Tracer 9 GT. If you like sitting upright, ride on the motorway lots, want to be comfortable and have no delusions of being some rugged off road hero then it's a decent option, especially if you want a DCT! I think I'd possibly rather have the BMW RS or V-Strom though, you either get a more powerful bike with shaft drive for a bit more with the RS or a cheaper bike that's lighter and a bit more powerful with the V-Strom.

Very impressive bike Fish. I'd leave the Top Box on with a tank bag. Panniers get in the way when filtering through traffic. Bike would be close to perfect if it had shaft drive but at least it has a centre stand. Not a fan of DCT as it takes away too much control from the rider for my liking - premature change ups. Rival? RS /RT BMW'S for a lot more money which I'd go for if I had the money - shaft drive. I'm 5'8 so it might suit me more than an Africa Twin.

Mr F, great review. I rode this very bike on Friday and would concur with your views. To me it’s a cooking model and a bike I couldn’t get excited about. As a commuter it would be ideal with DCT and very good road manners. I don’t commute these days. I’m looking at an Africa Twin to replace my GSA mostly for the DCT and ability for me to actually reach the ground with more than tiptoes. I’m 5’8” so no giant. Much as I like the GSA I’m less impressed by the build quality and service not least on warranty issues. After more than 17 years on BMWs time for a change. Oh, as for the seats, BMW offered the Komfort seat option for the original K100 range. I had one in 1986 and can confirm that the original seat was utterly appalling as in numbness setting in after barely 45 minutes. A marketing ploy they and others have exploited well.

204 kg in manual and 194 kg with DCT. Are You satisfied With Versys 1000 ? I consider between NT 1000 and Versys 1000

Parts bin special… Honda using the same 1100cc motor of the Africa Twin & Rebel. As you said, X-ADV front end. It’s a little bit ‘Meh’ IMHO 🤷🏻♂️ It’s in the VStrom 1050 pigeon hole isn’t it? 🤔

Vstrom I would say is an adv bike

That front end, with those over sized ears, reminds me of a tiki mask for some reason. Looks are subjective, to me it is a pretty Fugly bike. A high-vis dads dream. The ideal bike for an accountant whose colleagues think he is a bit of a boring square. Just imho though, we can not all like the same things.

Hi I'm a new subscriber, what's your Bluetooth hack without connecting your phone via a lead as mentioned in this video. Regards No

The NT 1100 is not available in the US? Thats BS! This may have changed there are a lot of older films on youtube about it.

V-Strom or Versys are about the only ones really

Gives the impression that it will do everything it is designed to do well. Typical Honda. The price difference between it and an AT will make it attractive to those of us who aren’t six footers and have no off road pretentious. So it looks like a good road based real world option. However the colours are so boring.

I think this looks like a good tourer if someone doesn't want to lay out the cash for a Goldwing.

Great proposition but the dash on the NT1100 and 2020+ AT looks so cheap and uninspiring...Honda should really look at what others are doing.

Nothing wrong with the dash I wouldn’t change mine for another (CarPlay)
