As you said, you could lose about 10-15 filter caps in consoles and they'll work. The reason consoles fail a lot of the time is due to one or more of those caps. The only reason they exist is due to the PSU's being cheap and noisy.

I would of used a marker instead of scoring 1 and 2 in the metal. Marker can be rubbed off with ipa

I don't know about that 1 and 2 marking on a customer console. Couldn't you write it with a removable marker or something? :D

Hi Phil may I have a little advice please? I bought an Xbox one S, opened it up because of no display and it turns off after 3 mins. Well the hard drive is missing so no wonder it turns off after a few mins. Could the missing hard drive also be the cause of no display? Any help would be amazing thanks mate. Rory.

Good afternoon Phil, Hope you’re doing well mate, i need your opinion on a ps4 that beeps once the light comes on for a fraction of a second and then shuts off and won’t come on again unless power cycled. I have not tested it with another PSU because i don’t have one but i have inspected the standby voltages on the board itself and the majority seem to be up and running except for 3.3v near the 12v rail going into the APU and 2v on the other side of the hdmi encoder chip. There is no direct short to ground on the rail but it has a 0.1 diode reading when its supposed to be above 0.3 i believe. The board i have is the CUH-1116A. I would really appreciate it if you have an idea and share on where i should start looking. Thanks mate!
