When Pokemon first came out in January 1999, stores were very hesitant to carry the cards since trading cards weren't very popular at the time, thus making the first edition printing so limited and rare. Yes Magic the Gathering was out at the time but nowhere near as popular as Pokemon. Check out Danny Phantump. He has a business buying and selling old and new Pokemon cards. He did a video breaking down what happened in 1999.

Appreciate the info! I remember buying the cards from books a million as a kid, I was into playing magic a little big but pokemon was where it was at 😂🙌

Thanks for all the great Pokémon info, will have to dig out the binder and see what I have, also if you had to buy a thermal printer today and you use your IPad for everything what would you buy. Thanks again for all the great content.

I have a first set rare holographic mewtwo card. But it's in Dutch and it's not in perfect condition XD How much could it cost approximately?

I have the First Edition Machamp as well. I believe it came standard with the Game Boy "Pokemon Card Game" game. So yeah not really first edition.

I just broke out my set when I was a '90s kid in Middle School...... I gave them to my brother 25 years ago..... About 15 years ago he threw them away.... Of course I seen them and pulled them out of the garbage...... Shove them in a box ... Another 15 years later and,,,,,, The past day or so i'm going through over a thousand cards.... Man do I need help...... Unfortunately,....... This is also like asking your friends to help you count your $100 bills....lol... If if not $1,000 dolla bills.. xp ..... I just moved back to Chicago and don't have any friends I could trust yet...... I have the worst luck in my life so I'm hoping i got something good ..... I already got a fist full of first editions.....!!!! every last one of them is fossil, rocket, jungle, a few shadowless and a few first editions as well as promos.... Everything is before 2001.. Wish me luck!!!!!!!..... Just found a few japanese pocket Monsters....man i wish I had a friend that knew more about these!!!!

@@thecollegepicker ...... I tried going through them, it literally took me 5 days....... Just to sort out first edition, fossil, jungle, rocket, ect..... I got tired of going through them and don't know the best place to list them....
