If you’re looking for a comment to make sure this is a good recipe, well here I am, MAKE THIS! I made this cake for my birthday, along with a mascarpone cream instead of a buttercream, and it was delicious. My parents loved it. :) Btw guys, in Portugal we don’t have buttermilk, so in case it’s the same for you, I actually made buttermilk by putting 1 tablespoon of vinegar in the milk. I waited 10 minutes before using it, and it did great. :)

I made this last time and u don’t understand how good moist soft and perfect this was . Best cake i have ever had definitely recommended I made it today asw but I didn’t have enough white sugar or I didn’t have soft butter so I used brown sugar and hard butter I dont think the hard butter did any impact but I used the white sugar I had and brown sugar and OMD I didn’t have it yet but the batter WAS SO SOFT AND PERFECT AMOUNT OF SUGAR ABSOULOUTLEY LOVED IT ❤

First cake I’ve ever homemade & it turned out perfectly amazing. Kudos to this recipe, not to my baking because I’m not a baker at all. The only thing I couldn’t do was use buttermilk & use the two 8in. pans. I tried “making” buttermilk by using a tbs. of lemon juice and then a cup of milk & letting the mixture sit for 10 minutes until it “curdled”. The curdling never happened. But I mixed 3/4 of it in anyway & it apparently worked for me! Also, instead of the 8in. pans, I had to use one big pan. It’s 13x8 and 2in deep.

It is actually my first time baking a cake, and i really appreciate the ingredients and its measurements - i learned that we need to be specific and careful with that. Some of the ingredients were difficult to find in the supermarkets but i was able to secure it in a baking supply near me. But the feeling of being able to comply with the ingredients and steps, and you see the finished product, it wipes away the exhaustion (been working the recipe for 7 hours)! For buttermilk, it was really difficult to find so i just used substitution (whole milk and vinegar). However i got in trouble with the cake frost because i was using a powdered whipping cream (so had to add coldwater) and i was only using a steel wire egg beater. So i knew this part, i failed because it was more ideal to use an electric mixer. Anyway, this is really part of the process in order to learn. Thank you again because i am enjoying my coffee and the cake right now :)

I tried this cake immediately after watching the video and it turned out amazing. Better than the other vanilla cake recipes I tried. So do bake it as per the measurements given and it will turn out superb. Do remember not to over beat the batter. After mixing the wet ingredients by an electric hand mixer I added the dry ingredients in batches and used a whisk to combine everything together. This will help not over beating the mixture and not release the gluten in flour.

My first try in making a cake batter turned out waaay too buttery but your recipe looks like it's less butter heavy so I'll try this one out hopefully it'll turn out better than my last one. That one straight out tasted like block butter even though I followed the other's recipe to the t it just looked good. This is how I make a 15 lb english - welsh rarbit cake: first you need a metal garbage can 30 gallon or more. Fill the can 1/3 of the way full with cold water. 31 and 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour. 15 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 16 teaspoons ground cinnamon. 12 teaspoons ground ginger. 10 1/4 teaspoons ground nutmeg. 11 teaspoons Diamond Crystal kosher salt. 14 sticks unsalted butter, softened. Mix all the ingredients with a large wooden paddle until a smooth batter is established. Keep any kids away from the batter because they will tend to dip in it. Thats one thing you don't wan it slobber and germs in the mix. The next step is to be sure you have an even fire going under the can. I use a gas dopple ring made by Germandeli, The ring costs abou 89 marks, but it is well worth it. Slow cook this cake for about 8 hours. I usually have my half-wit son watching it so it doesn't burn. After the cake is done, you will know it when it shrinks away from the sides of the can. You could also test the cake by pushing a broom stick down the center of the cake, if the broom stands straight up then the cake is done. This cake will serve about 80 people, which is about everyone in my village. If you like my receipe please let me know!
