RDJ STAYING MAIN DOOM AFTER AVENGERS SECRET WARS?! Marvel News

Robert Downey Jr is going to remain the MCU's main Doctor Doom after Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars, going into the Mutant Saga and phase 7 of the MCU according to new reports. With Robert Downey Jr remaining Doctor Doom and Pedro Pascal remaining Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four, this could limit some of the stories Marvel Studios could tell of Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom when they were younger, but this could also work with the Multiverse reboot coming after Avengers Secret Wars. As much as I love RDJ, you gotta get a new actor for Doom. It's kinda poetic that the character who started the MCU and the character who in a way will end it/soft reboot it are played by the same actor but after Secret Wars you goota give the Doctor Doom role to another actor and have RDJ as Domm be a one saga thing. The only ones that shouldn't be recasted Fantastic Four related wise are the Fantastic Four and their other villains along with their supporting cast. As much as I love RDJ, we need to get a new Doom. I like the fact that reboots essentially allow the actors to play different roles, I am glad for Jason Momoa. But seriously, after Secret Wars, I want to see a lesser known actor come in and play Doom properly with a proper story, personality and Latveria! I want to see someone new to the industry become achieve a landmark by playing Doom, just like RDJ did by playing Iron Man, like Tom Hiddleston did by playing Loki!

you ll see latveria in f4 in july you ll see who is doom and why he is(briefly)as a person as a king as a former reed Richards allie/friend in the 15 20 minutes participation that doom will have then they ll squeeze way more in doomsday along with peter parker and along with one or a few flashbacks of doom s origin for example a flashback oh him saving latveria from the barons and becoming king and/or a flashback exposing the fallout of him and reed or that flashback might be exposed in the 15 20 minutes in F4...we ll have a great doom story worthy on its time(small)but intense and meaningful just like thanos

I'm not sure how I feel about RDJ staying on as Doom. I was surprised and liked the idea of him being a Temp Doom and a version of Doom that looked like Iron Man. But as the Doom going forward, I don't know. I was hoping they'd use this time to figure out and cast the actual Doom going forward post Secret Wars reboot. I'm not sure I'm a fan of what Marvel is doing from the info you've shown so far. Would like to see how it plays out and I hope I'm wrong and this ends up as a good thing. Think about it this way, RDJ Doom is being introduced in the Fantastic Four movie. That movie takes place in a different universe in the '60s. So assuming that Doom is from that universe, you could make the assumption that there is also a different Doom in the main MCU that just hasn't been introduced yet. I think that leaves the door open for a recast after the soft reboot

Honestly, I was wondering what kind of actor would be casted as the new Doctor Doom after Secret Wars because I thought how Robert Downey Jr. wouldn't want to stay in with Marvel forever, like how he originally wanted Spider-Man Homecoming to be the last time he plays Tony. But then again, Hugh Jackman did say how he reached out to Ryan Reynolds about how he wanted to come back as Wolverine shortly before they would've started Deadpool 3. And now that Hugh Jackman says he would love to continue playing the character for another 10 years, I guess that means RDJ would love to play Doom for years to come if he enjoys the experience that much. I guess it does make sense for him to stay as Doom instead of bringing a new actor, otherwise a new Doctor Doom wouldn't have a personal history with this specific Reed Richards. I mean, sure, they made Willem Dafoe's Goblin an enemy for Tom Holland even though Tobey Maguire's version was his original enemy, but they still managed to make it work. If they do keep RDJ after Secret Wars, they need to figure out how to make things work out and how they will end his character's story. Because I do not know how they can end Doom's story after something as big as Secret Wars. Plus, with keeping Doom after that film, his threats won't be as big as what he will be doing in Doomsday and Secret Wars.

I didn’t realize Pedro Pascals age. it’s a mistake to cast anyone over forty in new roles (Doom usually has a mask on, so that’s a different story.) This tremendously limits them, unless they expect everyone will simply accept recasting with another actor when the time comes.

He has the charisma and presence to bring the character to life in a unique way, just as he did with Iron Man. 🔥. And I'm still sad that Jonathan Majors lost the role of Kang the Conqueror, but he got new opportunities in Merciless and Magazine Dreams, but of course I want him to be Kang the Conqueror again.

Well, considering it's not a real country, it could sound like anything he wants it to sound like. But I'm guessing he'll do an Eastern European type of accent. As in something that sounds similar to Russian or German perhaps? I think he pulled off a pretty convincing English accent (from an American actor) in the Sherlock movies and he's serious about his craft so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until I hear it on screen.

Seriously, what is up with people wanting RDJ to be Victor Von Doom and not a Tony Stark variant, which makes way more sense for their choice of bringing RDJ back to begin with?? He was in the MCU long enough as Iron Man that a lot of us hardcores (and even the normies) already associate him as that character. You really have to consider those group of moviegoers cuz they still watch these movies, but don't read the comics like us. And before people try and say to me in the replies about Chris Evans and his history, that's a completely different story. Yes, he played Johnny Storm but that was in the Fox-Verse. Plus, he only played the character in just TWO Fantastic Four films before coming back as a variant in Deadpool & Wolverine, where he gets killed off just 5 minutes in. Because he played Captain America much longer much longer in the MCU, people will associate him more as that character than Johnny Storm. You get what I'm saying? Same thing here with RDJ. Sure, there can be multiple variants of a certain character played by either that same actor or a different actor, whether or not they were in the MCU before. I get that. But the MCU's target audience has always been (and will be) the normies, so they're not going to understand the whole Mutliverse concept like we do. That's why if you're gonna bring back a familiar face to the MCU, like RDJ as a different character, where his face is likely gonna be shown throughout both Avengers movies, mind you, him being a Tony Stark variant of Doctor Doom makes way more sense than Victor Von Doom cuz that was a thing in the comics and helps differentiate these two versions, especially if you're going to introduce the MCU's version of Victor Von Doom with a different actor, post-Multiverse Saga. But keeping RDJ around as Doom after you've rebooted the franchise is an absolute cop-out. Not to mention, the man's approaching 60. Let him move on! Whatever the Russo's have planned, they better know what they're doing, as much as I love them. Cuz I still don't buy this Victor Von Doom BS and hoping they're just throwing us off until these films come out.

It would be nice if Doom, Reed, Xavier and whoever else were older adults. Not in their 50's and up. It would also be nice to get a rebooted Hank Pym that's not very old. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I know the next saga is a “mutant” saga, but I don’t think they’re gonna devote as much time to them as we originally thought. They have to spend a whole phase tying up loose ends from this saga (BP3, DrS3, S-C2, Hulk movie) where are these more mutant led movies going to come in at?

Not sure how i feel about this I'm not doubting that RDJ as Doom will do an amazing job but I honestly i envisioned a new actor playing Dr doom after secret wars I'm sure that they can find a way to make this work I just not sure fans would easily except this movie until they see how he and the story play out

Not too happy about RDJ as Doom permanently. All other legacy actors returning without IronMan is F’ed up. I mean one variant of RDJ as Doom is cool but not getting someone else is lame, still think Jean Carlo Esposito would have been the best pick for Doom but hey I don’t write movies .

If they keep RDJ as Dr. Doom they need to sideline him for a bit during the mutant saga. Maybe Dr. Strange and the Avengers/FF decide to wipe his mind because he’s too dangerous. Doom then has to figure out what happened, with hints sprinkled throughout the mutant saga. Then Doom emerges as a threat in the next saga after realizing what happened to him, and seeks revenge.

I'm fine if RDJ makes 1 (only 1) post Secret Wars reboot...he shows up in a post credit scene...big speech...chewing the scenery...ranting about how he'll destroy this new reality...then he's destroyed by the post-reboot Doom.

Yes it's important to have a new Doctor Doom. A younger yet older one because Robert Downey is already too old for many more projects to come. There needs to be a true Doom or another of himself. This Doom has to feel more in lined with the comics than RDJ's Doom. A Doom that follows the path of the original comic Doom.
