Some people are critising Trevor for not buying her grandmother a house and new furniture. Just to let you know, if you read Trevor's book Born a Crime, Trevor explains that gogo doesn't want her furniture refurbished and certainly she doesn't want to be moved. And that applies to all our South African gogo's actually, the furniture and the house is part of them, they don't define success by flashy things but are content with life and memories!

At age 91, why would she wish to move away from her community, away from the life she built and held onto despite all the hardships? I’m sure he does other things to make his gogo’s life easier, gifts that do not disrespect her accomplishments. Their affection for each other is very evident!

Everyone should read Trevor's book honestly! It made me want to meet the women in his life, particularly his badass queen of a mother! Obviously I admire Trevor as well, but Patricia Noah is a legend! I would honestly kneel if I ever met her. She went through so much and never lost her spirit. She raised a biracial child in a racist society, bringing him up to be a bright, intelligent and compassionate human! I am so in awe of both Gogo and Patricia ❤❤❤😍

Elderly people get so attached to their homes moving her to a fancy house, will be devastating all her memories and experiences in life are where she is, a fancy life will kill her so fast. I’m a black South African living and working in Dubai .. a voice in the back of my head was saying why does he not buy her a house. And I realized that although I earn a good amount of money. My mother still lives in her apartheid house. And she does not want to move, it’s good to see how Trevor still maintains his African customs simple things like knocking before you enter even though it’s your house. Greeting the neighbors whether you are friends or not this is small things that are rare in most places of the world.

(Also, you used the first comma correctly, it comes before an "and," and it separates two complete thoughts. The second comma, however, separates two thoughts that are not complete, making it incorrect. You can say "I respect her and all her wisdom," or you can say "I respect her, and I respect all her wisdom." Please do not think I am correcting you because your grammar was bad, but rather, your grammar is very good, and these are the two things that would make it perfect.)
