Great moment wasnt it? I sat here thinking they asked the wrong guy to this forum and he makes no apologies either. Thing is, he was right. I also agree wholeheartedly with his take on having choices. When I think of freedom, I think of the ability to choose for myself. Life is all about choices down to the brand of toothpaste we use. The thing about having choices tho is that we don’t all choose the same. That said, where can we all meet int middle while at the same time having respect for those who choose differently
@bradclifton524819 күн бұрын
@@kaywaits4616 that is why core values matter. We can't meet where values contradict. The American Civil War is proof of that. So, it's nice to talk about meetings but there never can be around some issues. This is especially so when political systems, with forced participation and taxation require participation by those who decent. If a start point were to begin, it must be by removing all participatory compulsion. People must be able to opt out or, in. Or, their taxes should never be used for contentious purposes at all. In this context, if some is free to choose evil, they are also free to live and die by the consequences of those choices.

+E V-It sounds to me like you're saying everyone on death row are innocent. And how does capital punishment compare with a society's conscious act to kill a defenceless human being who has not committed any crime? The individual on death row go through a judicial process which involves judgement by his peers. It's not a perfect system but to make it accomodate your particular sense of fair play is ludicrous especially because it is a system that protects and deters.

@zion6535 жыл бұрын
I hate the "if you are pro-life, how can you support the death penalty" argument. It is absolutely asinine as these are 2 completely separate issues. There is an immense difference between a gestating child in utero and a person convicted of committing a heinous crime. The death penalty is a punitive action which follows due process and the proper adjudication of a criminal trial. This is in no way comparable to the wanton execution of a developing child. Liberals and leftists make themselves look like complete idiots whenever they make this "gotcha" attempt.
@dennisbloodsworth86755 жыл бұрын
Abortion isn't the execution of anything other than an unnecessary pregnancy.
@zion6535 жыл бұрын
+Dennis Bloodsworth Pregnancy defines the act of what? - The development of a child during gestation. Abortion defines the act of terminating or ending the development of a child during gestation. If abortion is not the execution of anything, then how do you explain the outcome of avoiding an abortive operation? What is an "unnecessary pregnancy"? And, on what basis do you determine that a pregnancy is "unnecessary"?
@dennisbloodsworth86755 жыл бұрын
@@zion653 Pregnancy isn't necessarily an act. Its a process. Aborting the pregnancy isn't tantamount to murder. Why? Because there's tens of thousands of people who were once aborted. Guess what? They still exist. Are you going to sit there and tell me they were murdered? Would you really have me believe that? On what basis did I determine it was unnecessary? Easy. The woman in question does not want to take the pregnancy to term. She realizes that she is not at a stage in her life where motherhood is proper for her and she likely knows that the adoption centers are flooded with kids as is. It's also unnecessary because it's something sustainable. While successful reproduction is appropriate and necessary for the continuation of the human species, it's not necessary in every case for everyone.
@dennisbloodsworth86755 жыл бұрын
@@zion653 And you are incorrect with that definition of abortion. The fetus will still develope if viable. The proper phrasing is it may or may not lead to the end of an unborn from developing.
@zion6535 жыл бұрын
Are you seriously contending that tens of thousands of people were aborted and, yet, still exist? How, exactly, do you come to that conclusion? An abortive procedure terminates a pregnancy and, therefore, terminates the gestation of a developing child - resulting in the death of a child. The only exception is in cases where the child survives the abortive procedure, which is rare; however, proponents of abortion actually support measures to allow the child to die should it survive the abortive operation, a measure which is exponentially heinous. A woman's desire to end the life of a child by terminating her pregnancy does not trump the child's right to life. You do not have the right to end the life of another individual simply upon the basis that you find that individual to be inconvenient to your life. If a woman considers that she is not at the proper moment in her life to begin motherhood, then there exists a plethora of preventive measures to avoid such a reality, including a myriad of contraceptives as well as abstinence. If you engage in a coital affair and become pregnant, you do not have the right to terminate the life of the resultant individual. Any individual who does this is using abortion as a failsafe form of contraception, an act which I find deplorable. Adoption centers being "flooded" with children does not justify reasonably as a rationale for ending the life of the children. Any individual who believes that reproduction in their case is not "appropriate and necessary" should take measures to ensure that reproduction does not occur. Being irresponsible in your behavior does not qualify as a rationale for the termination of a developing child.

Gridlock in government is essential. In fact this was intentional by the founders.
@Praehotec5 жыл бұрын
In theory it works, but the problems arise when the gridlock suddenly slips and some bad policy slips through. Then the gridlock resumes and then we're stuck with the bad policy because the gridlock prevents anyone from repealing the bad policy. It also relies on each branch of government staying inside their assigned boundaries, like the legislature shouldn't just throw up their hands and say "We can't get anything done, let the executive deal with it." Or the judicial has to realize that they should not be setting up laws without the legislature. And finally, the legislature, as you say, is designed to keep much of anything from getting done, so they shouldn't vote an executive department into existence and then get mad when the department doesn't do what they want.

@deadpool9815 жыл бұрын
Matt it’s not intellectually dishonest. At least 4% of the Inmates put to death are innocents, if you’re okay with the government murdering innocent people just so you can kill actual criminals for your own sense of moral justice when locking them up for life would be cheaper then you just can’t objectively call yourself “prolife”, you’re killing innocents in order to kill more people. Think of it like this, you have 96 criminals you can have executed, but you can only kill them if you also kill 4 completely innocent lives as well. Would you kill those innocent people in order to get to The criminals ? Or would you lock them? (which would also be cheaper option as well.)
@deadpool9815 жыл бұрын
john oboczky But they DO KNOW that they are killing innocent people, that’s why the analogy works . they may not know exactly which ones are innocent , but they know for a fact that a percentage of them are innocent and execute them anyway. That’s the entire point. I’d argue that you’re being intellectually dishonest by pretending this an argument over whether there are more innocent fetuses or more innocent people on death row when this argument is about being consistent with your “pro life” view and not being a hypocrite. The fact that michael knowles knows that innocent people are put to death but still literally professes his love for that system only makes him just more of hypocritical intellectual lightweight. Loving a system that you know kills innocent lives Is extremely antithetical to the entire concept of being “pro life” , it’s not pro life, it’s anti abortion.
@deadpool9815 жыл бұрын
