Back in '93, my late husband and I took a side trip off onto this same part of Route 66. I loved the art deco Conoco service station at Shamrock. It was a fun day. Today would have been my husband's 66th birthday. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Great vlog, Adam.

Wow!!! Route 66 has changed since I took it in 2001. I really didn't think it would be dilapidated that much since then. Thanks for the flashback. This is the first of your route 66 series that I've watched. I'm looking forward to your Arizona section. We got caught in a snow storm and they had closed the road at the within a mile. We had found the last room in seligman Arizona. For as surreal as it was to be stuck there, the people at the original roadkill cafe were amazing. They had just closed when the road closed. Those folks opened up again for is and a few others . eating there was an experience. Lol.

When I was on my Route 66 trip I had coffee in the U-Drop Inn, and stayed across the street at the Western Motel so I could see the old Conoco station all lite up in its neon glory. The red truck inside is a Studebaker M series from the late 40's... and while you can't get gas at that old gas station there is a Tesla Supercharger behind it.

I love the way that Conoco lights up at night! I was hoping you would keep going thru Oklahoma on Highway 9. There are some really cool land features and abandoned gas stations small towns and courthouse squares along the route. Oh and that leaning water tower was made that way so that it round draw attention and get people to stop. It's a genius idea because it works!

The Cadillacs get a fresh "base coat" every so often. You were there really soon after one of those coats. The Cadillacs also keep having to be moved west because Amarillo keeps growing that way.

First time I went it was in it's original location just before it was moved. In fact, when I went back only a couple years later I was like ... "WTF, I don't remember it being in a location like this." It tripped me out and then I found out it was moved. I tell people they could skip it. It is kind of lame IMO. I'd be fine if they retired it or replaced it with something else.
