A ton of the most common anti-communist arguments are straight up projection. Like, things capitalism does that are bad, they just say "that's commies". That’s cope-ium for you, their life sucks, so they like to imagine that it’s a personal thing that they feel they can control as opposed to a broader system that is actively screwing them over that is much more difficult to change. It’s like denying climate change or buying into the bs that corporations feed us to make us feel responsible for it. Because the reality of climate change is bloody terrifying, they cling to the notion that none of it’s real and everything is fine or that they can control the situation by recycling their rubbish, or using fewer straws. There is one thing most people hate, and that is the loss of control over some aspect of their lives. In fact, a lot of the fear mongering about socialism is based on this notion of losing control of your life.

The inner city thing here is real tho. It's not that you don't trust minorities, it is a bad idea to trust anyone from the city. They are most likely all trying to scam you or rob you in some way. But it's also funny when people try to act like it's nothing when all my life I've been told there are places near me I can't go or I'd get killed just bc I don't look and act like those people and I'm not from there. How do you square that?!? It's not a lie or unrealistic to say that if you live in the country or outside of the city and a more community-based areas then you may not have to lock your doors still. But today even the places I grew up where we did not have to lock our stuff everyone does now. You still can't trust most people but there definitely seems like a lot more people that are openly willing to help you or just be kind when in the city it feels more like a 'don't even look at me' type vibe and nobody will help you out with anything no matter what.

The disagreement over horshoe theory comes from a disagreement about how power in government works. "Nazism is just liberalism in decay" as an argument works if you beleive that the government in the "capitalist" society *IS* the same as the class of industry leaders. However this does not work if you beleive they are not the same and the govenrmrnt can and does do things that the capitalists dont like. Example, mr "a" got into power by promising a cadre of capitalists special treatment. When he got into power he then let these capitalists depose and loot all his political enemies thus "privatization" or as he actually called it "aryanization." This is where marxists go "aha! See! Fascism is just extreme defense of private property!" But that means they only pay attention to half the story. The other half of the story is that once mr a had all the power, all his rivals murdered and the army behind him he turned on the very capitalists who helped him and said "good, now you will do as i say with what ive given you and i dont care if you make a profit or not." During the interwar years many started to in fact go bankrupt and theres fair evidence that the invasions started when they needed loot to keep the whole thing from collapsing in on itself. Now this is when idiot liberals who think "garment does thing" is socialism scream "see! Fascism is socialism!" Because in tbe end even as the capitalists were allowed to gorge themselves on the nazi party's enemies they only were allowed to exist as long as they met state objectives. The nazi state did not care if they turned a profit or not as evidenced by their auturky program (whicn crippled the german economy so bad pre war it actually probably lost them the war before it even started. ) everything served the state, not profit meaning its not "capitalism." Of course its not "socialism" either becaue they made no pretense of ending heirarchy and class. Tldr both sides of this one are idiots. No the auturkic nazi regime is not "capitalist" just because uncle a's friends were allowed economic loot of his political enemies (or parts of the state ) as a reward for loyalty. No it was not socialist becauee it didnt even pretend to attempt to end class.
@YenRestherac3 ай бұрын
Hmm About it not being capitalism, I'm not sure... Yes, many businesses, small and big, went bankrupt, but mostly light industry ones (food, pharmaceutics, clothing, etc.) The capitalists that funded the nazis campaign actually gained a lot ; they were from the heavy industry. The same thing happened in Mussolini's Italy : they made more roads than what the population needed, they mass-produced artillery, yet their internal economy, if we can call it that, was collapsing And yes, that sort of very late-stage capitalism inevitably led to war, as they needed to invade lands in order to preserve the profits made in the heavy industry

Serious question, in regard to the horse shoe theory that was mentioned early in the Podcast and how the far rights wishes to purge ethnic minorities while the far left want to protect ethnic minorities. I don't see that as being historically accurate as far as Communist regimes are concerned? Like the christians in the USSR, specifically Ukrainians and other ethnic minorities, Or the various ethnic minorities in China that still to this day gets sent to re education camps. I would really love to hear you guys be a little bit more critical and honestly analytical of the more successful larger Communist regimes perhaps talk about ways in which they divorced themselves from the original ideology or perhaps where they went wrong somewhere along the way. I understand that the majority of the fetishism is just comedy, but by no means were Stalin or Mao saints or protectors of ethnic minorities
