How is Wiccan's ultimate card random? Most of his cards have phasing which lets you choose the top card of your deck.

Yeah, even combined with the Spider Man-class characters who only let you draw if it's two or less. Drew a 3+ card? Now you know what it's cost is and can use the ability easily

Unfortunately, Tom often fails to understand the synergies at play in this game. I've seen him do that before on other Legendary expansion reviews. Not only does this work perfectly with the Phasing ability that most of his other cards have, there are a number of other heroes that get to look at the top cards of their decks, and it also works well with every single Web Slinging card from earlier sets which lets you put the card on top of your deck when you buy it.

Yea. I understand Tom plays a lot of games, but this game is in his top 10. Seems like something that would be hard to miss. Especially while explicitly pointing out the card's randomness.

Brendover In his review for fear itself he ranted about how useless a card was that manipulated the bottom of the deck seconds after explaining how Thrown Artifacts work by going to the bottom of the deck when used. Yeah, he really doesn't get the synergies.

Every set is like this except for the base heroes set. From Fantastic 4 to Dark City to Secret Wars. Even the base Villains set has unique card art.

I wouldn't take offense at someone calling him a robot. Anyone not familiar with the character wouldn't know the difference. I didn't know the difference about Iron Lad, and I don't feel any more fulfilled now knowing it.

Draffut2003 I highly recommend reading Young Avengers. It's one of the best story arcs coming out of Avengers Dissembled. There's only 2 Volumes (12 issues), so it's quick to get through. Introduces a bunch of new staple characters like Wiccan, Hulkling, Stature, Kate Bishop Hawkeye, Iron Lad, Kid Loki, Miss America, and Patriot.

It is very weird that everything in this set was Avengers...im suprised they didnt make a second faction grouping for the young avengers or the secret avengers...

I wish they would just release a basic 'core set' expansion. I would love to add to my legendary, but I don't want a set to play with all the new mechanics. It's just more you have to teach people when playing. Why not just release a set with stronger villains and expand on the heroes without introducing new mechanics.

tbh this wouldn't be a problem if they just put what the "new mechanic" does on the actual card, instead of making new terms for players to memorize or go back to the rulebook

He kinda' *did* rate the big sets in order, I think Dark City is definitely the first one you should get after the base set, after that, it just depends on if you want the most fun mechanisms or if your going for favorite Heroes. I would rank the Captain America set first but that's because I'm a fan. I know almost nothing about the Gaurdians but that set is one of my favorites because of how it plays. Spidey isn't one of my favorite Heroes but Paint the town Red is a must have in my opinion, and it has one of the most difficult master minds - Mysterio. Once you have those covered I would get this set and then both Secret Wars. I'd also skip Deadpool as it was just meh and weird with mechanisms that can throw off a balanced game without being actually funny, and I wouldn't worry about Fantastic Four because it will likely get reprinted or added to a bigger set and is prohibitively expensive and hard to find and honestly it would rank about 5th or 6th most important anyway.

Don't know if I can necessarily agree with you on civil war as a comic tom, while I have a lot of nostalgia for that period of comics (that was around the time I was actually starting to pick up books every month) I think its far from good and definitely doesn't hold up. Most every main character is completely out of character (turned Iron man my all time favorite hero into a total asshole) or motivated by stupid reasons. Despite my dislike of the books though, it is definitely still required reading for understanding modern comics this set however seems to capture some of what I did like from that event, and I'll definitely pick it up when I have the money to do so. Really like legendary as a game, but honestly if they stopped here I wouldn't mind, as it is I don't know how I'm even gonna store more expansions for the game.

The main thing I don't like with the comic serie is that Peter Parker reveals himself as Spiderman: what a nonsense! He has been trying all his life to hide himself in order to keep the ones he cares about from being harmed and "ta daaa: I'm Spiderman!"?!!? Ridiculous!

Aelegrin III It was definitely a bizarre and out of character move. Admittedly at the time it was definitely intriguing and surprising (no one would have called that) but it was really poorly executed. If it was executed better though, it could have really worked. As it stands, it doesn't make a lot of sense, and the consequence of such an action leads to one of the worst spiderman stories of all time, so yeah not a great moment for the series.

oh lame. Iron Fist-Daredevil doesn't proc or stack with Marvel Knights (Matt Murdock) Daredevil from Dark City unlike say core game Spider-Man to Black Suit Spider-Man from Paint the Town Red (which work REAL well in tandem). Looks interesting but I think I might pick up the SHIELD and Revelation packs first even tho I DO want Luke Cage and Jessica Jones (even if they may not proc well with the Marvel Knights roster...)

All 3 of the Daredevil's in the game work very well together. Dark City DD cares all about the top of the deck and CW Daredevil literally stacks the top of the deck with one of his commons & his uncommon.

I felt like this set just added complexity for the sake of complexity. Size-changing is totally unnecessary, and most of the characters here aren't that interesting. Secret Wars 1 and 2 were far better.
