Kingdomino: Age of Giants Review - with Zee Garcia

Wrote Blue Orange about Giant on a double or triple crown tile and if it takes out all crowns on that tile or just one - the responds was just one crown - hope that helps someone

It's been clarified and stated that the giant covers a crown, not crowns, so if you have a tile of three crowns, it now only has two.

Can you use elements of the expansion separately from each other? Can you use the achievement tiles, but not the giants? Can you use the 5th player, but not the giants? Just curious. Thanks for the review.

Bought 2 copies, discarding extras. 1 is mixed with Kingdomino, and stickered. 1 is mixed with Queendomino, and stickered. We play with all of it! Good times!

If you don't like the meanness, you can have the footprints just discard the giant (or move it to a non-crown tile) rather than moving it to someone else's king/queendom. Huh, there should have been a goal tile based on the number of giants one ends the game with...

Patrick Riley fun idea, keep in mind that if it's worth too much you would just pick the giant tiles every turn because you pick first every time

True. It would have to balance out the points you lose from covering crowns. My thought was a reward for having the most (not tied), so you still want to keep the number to a minimum while still being worst.

Does this integrate with both Kingdomino and Queendomino? For instance can you put all three games together and play one game? would it change the board size for each player and add more players? (So does it go to 7 players if you play all the games together)

I'm still unsure how the footprint mechanic causes the giants to be removed, and how it is determined which player receives the giant.

When you get a footprint tile, if you have a(/some) giants on your board you may select one of them, and pass it to any player of your choice, that player then selects any one crown on their own board and covers it with the giant. Footprint tiles only move a single giant no matter how many you have, and if you have none, it counts as a regular tile.

Hello guys and Thanks Zee for the review. I bought it and tried to play combined with Kingdomino. I don't understand how many tiles I have to use with the 2 or 3 or 4 players configuration.... all Kingdomino + the 12 Age of Giants? ...use all of it don't determine the number of rounds and you don't now when to stop. I mean, ok when you reach the 5x5 configuration but remains a lot of tiles in the dispenser. Have I to play with just 24 Kingdomino tiles + the 12 Age of Giants?? The same for 3 or 4 configuration?? I'm a little confused...

Right now there aren't any official ways to play all three combined. It's either combine it with Kingdomino OR combine it with Queendomino. When I play a Royal Wedding game (King + Queen) I still use the Quest tiles... I use those tiles for ANY game I play, even the base Kingdomino without the Giants. Really adds to the replay-ability of the game.

It can't be each time... does it mean suround your castle completely with...

Each time was kind of a bad phrase to use. At the end of the game, if you have a Quest Tile calling you to surround your castle with Wheat tiles, you get 5 points for each Wheat square. So if completely surrounded, that would be 40 points. If you only had 3 around your castle, well that's only 15 points.

I own both Kingdomino and Queendomino, but I won't buy this expansion. Sending a giant to another player is direct 'attack' which doesn't fit the nature of this game; the bonus objectives end up being restrictions that forces to build your kingdom in a certain way, which also feel against the nature of the original game. I own other games with mechanics that directly target specific players, but to me Kingdomino feels better without that addition. Stealing good tiles from another player's nose is cruel enough ;P
