You totally inspired me to upcycle a white denim jacket I never wore because the sleeves were too tight! I took some old white jeans I acquired somehow, cut off the legs, added them as cool wide sleeves to this jacket. So excited to have found your channel. I think EXACTLY like you. Love to upcycle/restyle my current wardrobe (so many clothes). Anyway, just wanted to let you know you have a new fan. You are SO my spirit animal....except I'm old enough to be your mom. But 50+ women should still be in touch with their style, am I right?!

Hey Orly- welcome back- I giggle as I watch your amazing God-given gift in action!!! So glad you took time away- you hv exactly one go-around w your kids- never apologize for needing time away- whatever you do it seems you give it 100% - sometimes ya just gotta hv a break-! God bless n strengthen you-

Yay, great beginning to 2022! As someone who sewed all the puffed sleeves back in the ‘80s, you need to increase the height of the sleeve cap and the width of the sleeve cap to give it that puff. You can cheat it a bit in what you’ve demonstrated by adding volume just inside the elastic bit with a stiff, ruffled grosgrain ribbon.

Good to see you back and hear that your time off helped you to recharge your batteries. I love your ideas and even if I know that I would look ridiculous in most of your designs (age limitations) , I keep watching because your enthusiasm and creativity is inspiring me to become creative also. And even if I can't 'copy' the exact ideas, I am learning the techniques and the way of thinking so I can DIY in a way that suits me. So, thank you and a happy 2022!

Puff sleeves are made by sewing 3 rows of basting stitches, securing one end of the 3 threads by putting in a pin at that end and wrapping the. threads around it. Once that end is secure and won't pull thru, gently pull on the threads at the 'free end' to gather the material into the shape you want. Then just sew that down. Once it's sewn down, remove the securing pin and pull out the basting threads. I've done it with regular fabric but not with sweater material but there's no reason it won't work. Thin knitting or crocheting yarn instead of the thread might look cool, too. What do you think?

Great sweater ideas! You gave me an idea on how to fix a sweater I was upcycling. Maybe that could also be a future video. How to fix upcycling mistakes.
@sierraroseprzybyla33332 жыл бұрын
This is so disappointing! …it’s not an “up cycle” to shred and destroy a perfectly usable sweater, it’s wasteful! The things made will *not* hold up for any amount of time, and will only get a few uses. Those shredded ends will continue to disintegrate, & FAST!
@marymagdalene30042 жыл бұрын
I think I'm overloaded with Miss Orly. Way too manic to be enjoyable to watch. Usually sewing type videos are very calming, but this is just the opposite. Sorry, but it's au revoir.

I would finish that knit sweater somehow. Whether that’s gray check or a line of stitching, but it will completely u ravel if you wash it, or just naturally over time.
@mbettner73682 жыл бұрын
For the knit sweaters you cut, do you have a specific way of washing them so they don't fray like crazy?

Ok I am running into an impasse. So I’m really inspired by what you’re doing and I have a few old sweaters I’d like to try this on but… What I would like to go far is kind of take an oversize sweater and make it into a wrap ballet sweater. Did you know there are no tutorials out there on KZbin for how to do this? They have them for oversize woven shirts. They have them for T-shirts but not sweaters. Do you know how this would be done? Sweater is so much thicker than jersey.
