A Great Dane does not really believe he is a dog, rather he is a member of the family. He'll sit on furniture, he will sleep in your bed and if you aren't careful he will steal your dinner. But one thing is for sure he will protect you. They are also inclined to protect children.

I’m a navy veteran I broke my back during seal training and I had the worst transition coming home my wife cheated on me while I was away so I started drinking real heavy and getting into bad bar fights 4-5 times a week I lost pretty much every friend I had made because I was just “pissed” then I met my beautiful pit/boxer mix she’s 70 lbs and she has changed my life 100%. It’s amazing how love will change your life entirely. My girl is a rescue but in all honesty she rescued me

I'm glad your life is back on track. Don't let one cheating b*tch spoil life for you. Crap happens (unfortunately I don't seem to learn so I'm back to living with an adulterer) but it's not always that way. I too am pissed a lot of the time but it's more towards myself for making bad choices - and I know that one of these days when I get enough money saved up to leave (and take the dog and cats), I'll move and become unpissed. My dog is almost always at my side and, like you said, he rescued me more than the other way around.

Totally with you! I wish more people were. There should be a big push in America - and any other similar country, but the USA tends to lead the world when it comes to fashion - to prevent ear cropping and tail docking unless for medical reasons. E.g. a dog breaks its tail too badly for it to be fixed, or its ears are badly damaged by an attack. Sadly the latter happens 🤬😓. Our first dog had to have a couple of inches off the end of his tail because he kept wagging it too hard and hitting it. It was already at a weird angle because he broke it by wagging, and he'd keep breaking it when it healed. That was until he kept cutting it in the same place and spraying blood everywhere (he had a fast wag for a big dog)! It took till he got an infection before we had the surgery done (he wasn't in pain before, at least nothing that bothered him. Taking the bandage off was the bit he hated lol). Fortunately he was a greyhound so a couple of inches off his tail was nothing, really. But if you crop a tail short for "fashion" 😡🤢 you are basically cutting its tongue out. It's their primary way of communication. It's been illegal here for some years to alter an animal's appearance for non-health reasons. Lambs in some places, where there are predators and potential trap hazards (e.g. getting their tails stuck in a hedgerow), will have their tails docked by a rubber band being put on it not long after birth: doesn't sound nice but apparently doesn't hurt them and could save their lives. Not all farmers do it, only those with those conditions. I don't object to ultimately good reasons, I abhor absolutely all "fashion" mutilation. Sadly the USA doesn't have the best reputation for the treatment of farm animals (blessings be on those who do the job properly, and those with sanctuaries 💞), and it's reflected in the allowance of "body mods" to pets 🤮. It's utterly disgusting and needs to be stopped.

We had a St Bernard when I was a little kid in NH, but our family friend had a Great Dane named Zorro who was much bigger (our dog was a bit of a runt for his breed). We'd go to their house to watch the Wizard of Oz in color, and use Zorro for a bolster on the floor, lol. He was a gentle giant, of course. He & Rasta are lucky to have their Hoomans, lol!

A friend of ours had an absolutely HUGE great dane, totally deep black, the only thing lighter than pitch black were his eyeballs, his teeth, and his tongue. He was aptly named Midnight. Our friend's living room window was fairly high off the ground. Whenever Midnight heard our friend's car pulling into the street he ran to the living room window and placed his head on the window sill. Nope, he did NOT stand on his hind legs for that, he simply DROPPED his head while on all fours onto the window sill, and watched the car driving up the street and pull into the drive way towards the garage. It was always hilarious seeing that huge dog's head on the window sill. Only when our friend emerged from the garage did Midnight give ONE single, deeeeeep throated bark, and sped to the front door. With one lunge he placed both front paws on the shoulders of our friend, who was 193 cm tall, or 6'3" and gave him a slobbery kiss. No stretching of his body, just simply straight face to face. Saddly that was more than 30 years ago, and Midnight passed away quite some time ago. But I still remember that incredibly gentle giant of a great dane very fondly.

I love that they're a perfect matched pair. Mom and Dog are perfectly proportioned for each other and it's so adorable, especially when you can't tell that he's not a retriever/lab until you see him and mom next to an actual retriever/lab. I owned a blue Great Dane many years ago....Jason.....who never thought he was a dog but a human, always thinking he was unique....that is until I stayed on a caravan park. It was there that I met two blue Great Danes, mother and daughter Coral and Lulu ....they too thought they were humans, as they would casually sit at the table whilst dinner was being dished up, eye balling each spoonful served onto the plates. I now have my third rescue Dane, Jackson and like the others he is truly loving and adorable. I loved your video and my Jackson does everything Wrigley does. They are so funny especially when they reverse to sit on the sofa or chair. He's just wonderful and I know the kind of love you're talking about, my Jackson drools so you're forever cleaning it of the walls ceiling and every where else in the house but I wouldn't part with him for the world.
