In this series, I will be revamping my Pokemon Home living dex by catching every Pokemon in their oldest games possible and I will be catching them all in POKEBALLS ONLY! This episode is Generation 8! The second to last generation (as of now) with 167 total Pokemon to catch between both the Galar and Hisui regions!

@@Tonkaonaja that method to evolve actually isn’t too bad! I used to struggle with it but you can get it pretty quick if you just walk with your Pokémon to different locations for a few minutes! I am worried about dudunsparce though as I need you catch the dunsparce from gen 2 😨

Just do a couple of laps around Los Platos and you'll get the evo.

So for Alcremie sweets, I recommend you simply catch/breed the milcery in swsh, but then transfer them into Scarlet and Violet to evolve them. The Item printer is absolutely bonkers, and gives you tons and tons of rare items. I have enough alcremie sweets to make like 3 complete sets of alcremie, including star and ribbon forms. Also, occasionally when SWSH were the main games before SV (and possibly even returning as a periodic event every so often) there have been milcery max raids, the milcery all have the gigantamax factor, and they drop lots of sweets, also including being the only way to get star and ribbon sweets prior to the crown tundra. Basically either way, doing the date skip battle cafe thing is the slowest method to get alcremie sweets, there's far better ways to do that.

Well the sword and shield raid event is no longer available, as I totally would’ve done that if I could. Other than that, it takes a lot of grinding for bp in indigo disk to be able to use the item printer a lot, and I just don’t play scarlet and violet that much so I have no bp and to me it’s a lot more tedious grinding for that. Also I actually already had nearly every sweet already when I checked a different save file so I only needed to get a couple sweets for this

@@ThedomiNATION Ah okay, well just know that if you started a fresh save file of Sword or Shield, while racing someone with a fresh save file of Scarlet or Violet, I strongly believe the Paldean trainer would be able to collect all the alcremie first. Alcremie% speedrun let's call it. In addition, the Item Printer is just straight up overpowered, like no contest at all to pretty much any other method of grinding in ANY GAME for money, vitamins, EXP candy, tera shards, pokeballs, special pokeballs (including the master ball), random medicine items, evolution items (including rare ones like chipped pot or masterpiece teacup), and even tons of battle items like life orbs and focus sashes. Plus, it's even easy to RNG manip, and force almost any selection of items you want to appear, though running it randomly for a few hours gets you more than enough for what you should ever need. I got addicted to it for a while lol, ran it until I had about 10 of all of the special pokeballs, and I have maxxed out pretty much every other item it can give you, including the 10 million pokedollar wallet in SV. (with probably 100x that as big nuggets and random sellables in my bag)

regarding mushroom huntng: you can do combee raids on the combee island, those are REALLY fast. good option if you only have one switch

Are they tier 1 raids regardless of how far you are into the game? The issue with tier 3 and up raids (unsure about tier 2) are the shields. As even if you are more than capable of one shotting the boss, the shield will force you to only do a certain amount if it’s health making the battle take way longer!

I’m actually practically done with mine. I’ve got all gens done except 3 and 5, but the main issue is I don’t have access to sapphire or either black game, so I’m kind of at a road block until I can get those, since I’m mostly missing version exclusives.

A good way to get older games for cheap is to buy Japanese versions! The unfortunate thing though is that the Pokémon names will be in Japanese. If you are dead set on English I would say just look around online across different sites and just hope to get lucky. I’ve had many people tell me they found some crazy deals for older games!

@@ThedomiNATION didn't test it, but I think you will need a Japanese Gen4 game if you want to transfer from Japanese Gen3 :(

@@Shimmysensei oh yeah I forgot about that. If have and other gen 3 copy that’s in English and a way to trade between games, you can trade the Japanese open to an English copy then send them up to an English gen 4 game! I do that with my emerald as both my emerald copies are in Spanish!

If you’re following along, and want all Alcremie forms, it is SO much easier in the Indigo Disk. You can get 8 sweets of your choice at a time using the Item Printer and changing your clock for RNG manipulation. It takes a little bit of grinding for BP but will otherwise save you so much time.

Sending Pokémon you’ve caught to a different save file to level them up to 100 using exp candies or rare candies then sending them back is a great way to play through sword and shield and legends arceus fast! Sword and shield you really only need like your starter plus maybe one other Pokémon (I used pangoro). Legends arceus you need like a full team of level 100s lol

It’s nice to see the living dex getting so far! Though I’m still disappointed in myself for missing that dada zarude code, I got one from the email with the shiny celebi and didn’t realize until it was too late to be redeemed, had to trade for one which sucks since it wasn’t self obtained but better than nothing 😅 also finally got my first shiny of the living dex challenge not too long ago surprisingly, went to get some last few unown I was missing in crystal and a shiny unown I popped up

That’s so lame that the codes expired especially so early on in the switch’s lifespan! At least you were able to trade for one! I had to trade for both pokeball vivillon and diancie so I don’t see it as any less if you need to trade for a couple of the event Pokémon! And congrats on the shiny unown! I can't decide if I care about my Hisui pokemons being in Strange Balls or not, but for now I'm prioritizing having them have the Hisui mark rather than be in a standard Poke ball lol (Especially since Enamorus can't be in a poke ball without being from PoGo afaik)

They only are shown in strange balls if you connect to a game that isn’t legends arceus! In home they will still display the pokeballs you caught them in!

I've fully finished my Gen 1 to 9 Origin Dex Pokeballs only, now finishing up my Alpha Living Dex in Legends Arceus. I've been hunting for an alpha Cherubi for over 2 weeks and this stupid cherry is driving me insane! After this all I need to do is months of hunting for the distortion exclusive alphas.

Having all the Alcremies in the thumbnail piqued my interest! Will you be doing a shiny hunt of them in the Scarlet and Violet games? They are so easy to find, but the candies might take a while XD

I actually started shiny hunting all the Alcremie a while back. I was using mainly Masuda method for them. Scarlet and violet kinda changed my views on shinies because of how easy they are to find, that I decided to change my personal shiny Living Dex to only include full odds shinies. So I’m gonna start the shiny Alcremie set over again but this time go for them full odds 😅. My plan is to get the first set of 7 in sword and shield in the wild area, after that, I plan to just use encounter power fairy level 3 in the indigo disk to get the rest! (I also have all the sweets I need to get all the shiny Alcremie already!)

That Yamper is actually a Non-respawning Wandering pokemon! (I should know, i have a list of them) they're scattered across Galar- one of the more well known examples is the Eldegoss on Route 5 that floats in.

Red Den Gmax Pokemon were Event Pokemon that were released for the finale of Sword and Shield. They don't have the same catch rates as the Purple Den Gmax Pokemon, which are 100% for the host.

Have you thought about getting the pre-evos with the g-max factor? I didn't for the longest time, but I recently added g-max genders and pre-evos to my living dex. You can get Charmander, Charmeleon, Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Squirtle, Wartortle, Milcery (an event that is no longer around, sadly), and technically available for a very limited time, Hattrem. They're such a weird oddity haha I didn't count the Hattrem, since it was a mistake, but I did trade for a G-max milcery--it's the only pokemon, oddly, in my entire OT living forms dex that I traded for.

While playing through the isle of armor to get the kubfu, I was picking different Kanto starters each time to get them with the Gmax factor. I’m not gonna count them towards my living Dex but they’re fun to have. As for Milcery, I wish I could’ve gotten a gmax one but sadly I had to connect to the internet to get the shiny galarian bird events. Maybe someday I’ll find someone who just forever kept the Milcery event and can host a raid locally

After stumbling onto your account, i have begun my own origin living dex in pokeballs as well. With some adjustments. I've completed gen 1 and 2. I only have leaf green in gen 3, so i had to use oras for that. I'm 2 deoxys away from completing that gen. 4 and 5 are nearly complete but I've moved to gen 6 as a change. I generally miss your streams but I watch all the videos (multiple times, lol). Not looking forward to milcery/alcremie though.

The problem I have with my galar dex is that I'm missing Zamazenta as it's a version exclusive and I don't want to buy a 60 dollar game for just one mon :( So if anyone is in the same deal as me, but missing Zacian instead, I can start a new save file with whatever OT you want and I can get one to you! :) Would be awesome if anyone can help me, I'm just missing Zamazenta to finish this chunk of my dex. 😬

One strategy I do (and I know it’s a little late for these games) but when a new Pokémon game comes out, I usually buy one version on day one and then ask for the other version for Christmas/birthday so I don’t have to buy both versions!

Going back a generation. Does your meltan pokeball show as the green pokeball if you aren't connected to let's go?

@@GregD50 I think it does that to show the Pokémon is still compatible with let’s go. Let’s go is typically a one way transfer so if you send it into a later gen game like sword and shield, you won’t be able to send it back to let’s go. So once you put it into sword and shield once it should update back to the pokeball you caught it in! But if you still want it in let’s go, then it should still show as the pokeball you caught it in for that game either way!

That’s not an error. The oldest games you can catch a galarian mr mime in are gen 4! You catch a mime jr and send them up to galar to evolve into galarian mr. mime! I even do it in this video for Mr. Rime!

@@Cargo_The_Hedgehog well they are separate forms so I would count them but just go for what you can! Hopefully one day they rerelease them but you can always try to trade people and just double check to see if they’re hacked. Usually people are pretty good at saying if they’re hacked or not!

They aren’t boxable forms. Fused Pokémon need be to separated to be put into home. Same goes for black and white kyurem and dusk mane and dawn wings necrozma

I believe it’s 6000. Each box stores 30 and I believe there’s 200 boxes. The free version only stores 30 Pokémon though

Not all the pokemon are available on the beast ball. Also same as apricorn balls they are as rare as them.
