The “brought to you by Uplay” joke is a reference to the old name of “Ubisoft Connect,” the Ubisoft launcher site that had a reputation of frequently not working, being notoriously shit when it did work, and existing almost entirely as a form of DRM (a system that requires players to go through it in order to play games, if it doesn’t work the game won’t launch). That’s why, after going through the absolute hell that is choosing a username, Kirito proceeds to have a mental breakdown.

Just so you know he was still using the NerveGear, the amusphere is the new one that is smaller and looks like a visor. The difference between them is that the nerve gear can fry your brain and the amusphere is designed with a lot of safeties. Also Happy Birthday bro

Just to add on to this, the Amusphere also doesn't fully block IRL sensory feedback, which generally lowers the in-game experience, but allows you to be aware of interference with your body IRL while you're in-game.

But he still did save her, since *Kayaba* later deleted all the *SAO* data from the servers, which would’ve included *Yui* had *Kirito* not transferred her data into his *NerveGear.* The backups that were later found on the *ALO* servers were almost a year old by that point, so any *Yui* related data would’ve been from before she met *Kirito* and *Asuna,* but notably from after *Sachi* (in the original) had made several pre‑recorded messages for Kirito and queued them up for every *Christmas,* which is why in a LN side story, *Kirito* received additional mail from *Sachi* while logged into *ALO.* (between seasons 2 and 3, IIRC)

ALfheim runs on the next version of the Cardinal System that ran SAO and uses the next version of the NervGear, the Amusphere, that is backward compatible but with more safe guards- like, it can’t fry a brain like the NervGear could. So, Kirito was able to use his NervGear to play. But, both games store stats, items, and location locally, so he started with all his SAO stats and items at the last location he was in SAO, which in ALfheim maps to the sky. That’s also presumably what caused the glitching. In the originally anime, he deleted all his old items except Yui because they mapped to nothing and he worried the Cardinal System might flag him for hacking or something. The fact that his stats largely mapped (except Dual Wielding, I think), let him start the game OP. Oh, and I hear it’s your birthday: Happy Birthday, Kyle!

It's not just that Alfheim loaded his SAO stats, it's also that Alfheim _doesn't have a leveling system,_ just skill levels. So Kirito is essentially a level 83(IIRC) character in a game populated entirely by level 1s. And all the grinding that went into his skill levels over the years in SAO means they're probably higher than the hardest grinding player in this (comparatively recently released) game too. Which would explain why he's able to so easily kill those Salamanders when they had high quality gear and he was using the starter gear too. It most likely explains why the game glitched out and put him in the wrong place too, that ziggurat he initially started above is the Spriggan starting area but the place he landed instead was _probably_ the equivalent to the position data of where he was in the floor 75 boss room when SAO ended.

Theoretically teleportation would work by disassembling you atom by atom, transfer you from one place to another almost instantly and finally reassembling your atoms so I doubt you would feel it

I hadn't thought of it before, but Kirito would be rather OP if his stats carried over. He spend two years in SAO in continuous play. Granted he didn't spend every waking hour grinding, but he was rather high level. Conversely it seems most players in the abridged version have only been playing a couple of months, and only part time, so they wouldn't be as high level yet.

Yeah, the with a u is the British spelling and so many former British colonies such as Australia and Canada use it. Us here in the US are the odd ones out since we rejected the u spellings for such words. Something Witty Entertainment is Canadian so they use that spelling style there too.
