If she was allowed to coach I'd LOVE to be coached by her, she's a natural not only at skating, but at coaching...despite Andy's hilarious fall, he picked up the basics really fast
@raea3588
@raea3588 6 жыл бұрын
I think she would be an amazing coach! But she's not allowed to coach ever. That was part of her punishment for telling the truth about what she knew or more importantly what she didn't find out until after Nancy was attacked. You know, she could have kept quiet and never said a word but she chose to tell the truth; that she did know who attacked Nancy after the fact but was too scared to say anything because she was threatened. Tonya was in just as much danger as Nancy. It's really sad when people are punished for the truth because authorities need a head to hang on their wall :(

She definitely didn't hire the guy or plan out the attack. She knew she was good and that would have taken everything away from her accomplishment of making the Olympics. Not really true. Actually, Nancy grew up in a working class family as well. Her dad worked three jobs to fund her skating career. Just because Nancy was beautiful and succesful does not mean she was born rich. I wish the movie would show this, but I guess that would change the agenda of this movie.

Mk K4013 #1 She was never crippled and was able to perform in a week or so. #2 Tonya was the better skater which gave no reason for her to even try to do this. #3 It was her ex husband who actually committed this crime due to him being undeniably obsessed with Tonya . Not saying that Nancy wasn’t hurt or denying her pain but Tonya didn’t even do it. I’m just wondering where’s your proof, when Tonya was a better skater when watching the videos of her skating.

I wish people would understand that no one knows the real true story. A lot is he said she said. Not to mention she’s not the one who attacked Nancy Kerrigan and there is only so much you can do to prevent something from happening. If she was truly guilty, she’d have been put in prison. I’m not denying that hindering the prosecution was bad because it was but she doesn’t deserve to be treated so badly when she already paid the price by getting her national title stripped. She is truly talented and despite what she did or did not do, she should be recognized for her talent and how positive she is today.

I Tonya brought me here. Margot Robbie did a great job playing Tonya. Her mother was a monster and she suffered child abuse and abuse from her boyfriend. Tonya had a hard life and she didn't have any friends and she had no education and she became a boxer after being banned from skating. It was all she knew. Tonya Harding was the first woman to do a triple axle and Nancy Kerrigan was a drama queen! Tonya Harding wanted to set the record straight about her life and she did. Tonya Harding went through alot!

It's so nice to finally hear her side of the story. At that time I was still living in Oregon, in Salem. So obviously everyone was talking about it. I definitely had a different opinion of her then, horrible. But hearing about her life, wow. SMH, its really too bad but I'm glad that she may be finally, coming through her storm

Had people known what Tonya had to overcome to get to the Olympics and how her family life really was, they may not have judged her so harshly. She did accomplish a lot.

I posted one particular move Tonya Harding did and she literally catapulted herself in the air and was literally flying.. in slow motion, her amazing skating and athletic abilities are her own, she is FLYING... she is a skating flying ice Diva extraordinaire, watch some of her 'flights ' in slow motion , sometimes she is so fast you don't realize what she has just done.. I am in awe and star struck by her over the top , over the stars ice skating performances, and you will see how much heart she puts into her skating. Tonya is a beautiful woman, always has been , I hope her son has her spirit and keep skating Tonya.. I will be watching your movie this week so excited. fan

It took time, but it feels like the movie gave Tonya the respect she deserves for what she did accomplish and what she had to to get there and closure from a time in her life not let her or wanted her to tell her side of the story.

Tonya inspires me to do even more with my life. Everyone in my world now hates me for getting arrested at a party where I knew no one's last names. Possession. Nothing in my pocket, I'm arrested/charged/convicted. Everyone turned their back on me. The nation turned it's back on Tonya. My world is so much smaller. I must move forward and close the book on those who only want to see me die or any other bad luck fall upon me. My best friend died (I'm 49) and people made fun of it only to attack me. Aren't people great?

This movie was available on my recent flight, and I was excited to be able to watch it, but it made me cry, especially her sentencing, it was so harsh, so much more harsh than what Jeff and Sean received, and it's all because of the way the media exploited the situation for their own ratings gain. I'm not much of anything, and I'm not a good skater, but when I skate I feel so free, and to be told you couldn't skate any more, or do what you love any more, I felt that crushing blow, because I've received that cursing blow a few times in my life. I just hate the way the media takes people and warps their image for their own purposes, and people feed off that shit. They use school shootings, presidential candidates, they try to feed into the dark side of humanity, the schadenfreude of human nature. I don't watch the news, and I really try to watch my thoughts and opinions about other people, because I know people are judging me and drawing conclusions without ever even talking to me. The movie was about ending as I was getting off the plane, and I was crying genuine tears if sadness over her story. The IFC didn't like her background or her story, but I think more people can identify with her than with the wealthy skaters with what appears to be more wholesome home lives. Tanya's story is way more compelling to me. It's just sad that she was going to try and spook the competition, that was a mistake, but we all make mistakes. She was one of my favorite skaters because of her jumps, and she had a cool Rock n' Roll biker kind of style. I remember what happened, and I hated all the media coverage, I found it annoying and it made me dislike both skaters. Thank God Oksana popped up just before the olympics, but because skating had such huge attention on it, it caused her to burn out and make a mistake that the media then tried to feed off of too! I hate it!

Tonya, a woman competes with herself, would never spend a second to plan any attack on her fellows. It is something those little people could never understand. I loved watching the game but never since the brutal decision made by the association.

Glad people are opening their eyes to her whole life. She lived a very challenging childhood and married an abusive loser when just 19. Now, she seems much more comfortable with who she is. A happy, middle aged wife and mother who was once a great athlete and still likes to get out and skate for fun, which is a great thing.

It's so sad to see how these cases with convicted men and one associated woman continue to be treated. In this case, the most anyone in this comment section can say is that Tonya had knowledge, not that she actually committed the assault, or was even present for it. Sure, it implicates her remotely, but she's not the person who actually took a weapon in her hand and struck the competitor in the knee. That action was carried out by two men. It was orchestrated by a further two men. These men got prison sentences for their actions of assault, yet Tonya Harding's name will forever be the only one anyone mentions, as though she took the baton in hand herself. Her name should be associated with it, but it shouldn't be given more focus than those who actually committed the assault. The reason she's focused upon is because she represents an upset in the values and norms imposed on women in culture and particularly in skating. She's demonised well beyond her culpability because she doesn't stick to the neat standards of wealth and beauty expected in the thoroughly exploitative sport of figure skating. It's an excellent and highly technical sport, but there are little to no professional winnings and it's one of the few sports to still double as a beauty contest. Tonya was always penalised for breaking those norms through who she was. She managed to get to the top of her sport despite little to no funding and a thoroughly awful crowd of characters to work with. It's easy to say she could have moved away, but with that low level of funding for the sport, she never realistically had the money to do so. On the surface, yes she was associated, but she did a decent job with the circumstances she had and ultimately this was the opportunity the sporting authorities had to completely remove her disruptive influence from their pristine sport. The fact of her knowledge doesn't fit the way she's been treated, especially in comparison to those who actually committed the assault. If the response fitted the crime, given that we'd expect to most condemn that which is most criminally dangerous to society, we'd hear a lot more about the man who assaulted Nancy than we would about Tonya.
