Only in the UK airport before travel stayed at Hilton Gatwick before flying to the USA, stayed at Copthorne Hilton, Gatwick before flying to to Jamaica, stayed at Thistle East Midland Airport before flying to Greece and Novotel Birmingham before flying to to Crete. Theryre all pretty much the same not the best quality stay and at Birmingham Novotel there was no late night room service or early morning breakfast

The evening before we were to fly to Las Vegas was EXTREMELY foggy. Like, socked in, pea soup, foggy. We called the airport hotel at the Sacramento Airport and they had a room for us so we drove the three hours (which in clear weather is only an hour) to the airport and stayed in the airport hotel. The room, itself, was pretty gross. Really old _everything_ and it smelled *strongly* of cigarettes. Still, I got a decent night's sleep and was pretty fresh when we left for the airport at *5:30 a.m.* for a seven o'clock flight. The best thing was that the hotel allowed us to leave our car in their parking lot, which saved us about eight dollars a day for the airport's long-term parking! So, even though the room was about a hundred dollars for a night of gross, the parking benefit outweighed the dingy room. *And* it saved me from having to get up at two in the morning to make a three-hour drive in pea soup fog.

Ooh enjoy Australia! And yes the airport train is crazy expensive because it is private but the rest of the trains are super cheap! Also do big trips on Sunday because then it is half price. Also buy a travel card which is super useful! Enjoy Australia!!

Did my first ever airport hotel last November. Returning home from Australia to Vancouver, BC, Canada. I had on purpose increased my layover in Hong Kong to 17.5hrs. Since I already have a China Visa, I can come and at as I wish. I wanted to visit the street markets and travel via rail and bus. I was beat by the time I finished dinner and still have 5+ hrs before my flight home. The room at the airport was big enough for the time I was there. Bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water. And have all the usual stuff like comb, shampoo, etc. By the time I was ready to leave, I was well rested. Had to buy a clean shirt before getting on the plane. Made the long flight home so much better. Note to one self, have a change of clothing with you. Will like to go back to Australia. Keep the videos coming.

If you can, do not miss the Top End, ie the tropical North with crocodiles, river gorges, waterfalls... Places like Kakadu, Litchfield, Katherine Gorge, Darwin... But it's quite expensive to explore, as the best way is to book a 4WD tour.

I was in Sydney in February. The very expensive train ticket, is exactly what you thought, it’s the tax for the airport. We really love Chinatown, The Rocks and taking the ferries. If you have time, go out to Watsons Bay. Anybody going, make sure you get an Opal card for the transit system. The best thing we did was pick one up.

Hello, Sydney local here - a very touristy but absolute MUST do is to have drinks at Opera Bar. Yes, it's a bit pricey but it's the most amazing view and atmosphere. Also, the rooftop bar at The Glenmore in The Rocks also has a stunning view, and espresso martinis on tap! Having travelled up and down the east coast almost every year for my whole life, there are so many amazing places and I wish you could stop at them all. I've done a decent bit of travelling but Australia's beaches will always be my favourite. Have fun!

I used to do courier flights for DHL. I was living in San Diego, but my DHL flights left from Miami. I discovered the MIA airport hotel on my second trip with them, and it became my layover routine from then on. It was amazing to me that it was so well insulated, there wasn't even a hint of airport noise in the rooms. Definitely the way to spend a long layover! Have a wonderful adventure in Oz, and a happy birthday to Eric!

So cool! I was watching The Wayaway in Australia and now I get to watch you two there as well, haha :) I once stayed at the Hilton Helsinki airport hotel. I could watch the runway from my window, which was really cool. And it was right next to the departure area, so nice and easy. I never sleep well though when I know I have to wake up at a certain time. No matter whether I have an alarm set or not. Looking forward to see your Australian adventures! Singapore is so cool. Such a tourist friendly city. When I was coming home from Italy I had to take a long layover someplace to get the cheap flight so got a hotel nearby and 15 hr layover so got hotel and slept then go to breakfast and quick tour of the city of Dublin. I got home feeling a little fresher than if I had flown straight home. Cool that Singapore has a hotel in the airport. Sounds about right. Their airport rocks. I’m sure your Australia trip was that much better. After your Asia tour, I’m sure Australia felt more like home. Except their English trips you up. Just like the English in Ireland tripped me up. I loved Australia. Reminded me of CA but with very different animals and their fun English dialect.

I've lived in Sydney most of my life. Hope you got an opal card it makes travel cheaper but Sydney Airport to the city is actually less than a lot of other cities in Australia. But for two people its usually cheaper to use uber from the airport. Its 2.50 travel on all ferries, buses and trains on Sundays if you are here for a Sunday
@fromrighttoleft83284 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I've taken express buses or trains into the central city from the airports in Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. All expensive, though Gold Coast was the cheapest with its 700X bus line connecting to its light rail. Brisbane's train system isn't very well maintained. However, unlike most cities here in the USA, I was grateful that Aussie cities even provide that option.

Used to travel to Haiti a lot from Oregon and the flights that got me into Haiti at the right time would always get into Miami at like 9pm and then the connection to Haiti wouldn't be until like 7AM the next morning...once I discovered the hotel in the Miami (Miami International Airport Hotel ) airport my life changed! I would get to Haiti with energy rather than starting a work week half asleep! I don't think it was all that expensive either...it sure beat sleeping on an airport floor.

There is about a $14 charge to use the airport stations. Also if you're staying in Sydney for any length of time (3+ days) I strongly suggest getting an opal card. Makes using public transport significantly faster, easier and cheaper. To buy single use tickets will cost about and extra $1 per trip.

When you went through security at the gate, was it putting luggage and personal items through a conveyor belt and taking belts and shoes off? I have some lawn sprinkler heads that I was going to put in my backpack and was assured that carryon was fine with them in the U.S. but have no idea what is allowed in security at Changi.
