I'm one of those people who isn't very happy with how Dabura was taken out of the main plot. I think if he hadn't died, but had simply escaped to the Demon Realm, then perhaps it would have been possible to come up with an interesting storyline for his return. Right now, we can only guess, speculate and build our own "what if" scenarious and theories, but I think it's just useless. I'm glad that at least in the Dragon Ball games and SDBH he got more recognition as a character. Hopefully in Daima we'll learn a little more about him and his father Abura.

In the Sandland Kanzenban edition 's bonus interview section, Toriyama was asked why do Satan and Dabura look so alike, to that he answers and i quote using Kanzenshu's translation " I think there are all sorts of demons, but my personal image of the highest- ranking demon is definitely that of Dabura or Satan" He did try designing Satan in a different way too but felt it was too straightforward (the page is included in the Kanzenban) and hence he tweaked his design to sorta match Dabura but still be a bit different.

Dabura was a fun villan, surrounded by tons of cool lore. Fortunately XV & SDVH focuses on fighting against demonic entities( one of those being Towa, the brother of Dabura) while protecting the DB timelines. So I'd say Dabura actually benefitted in the long run. Keep it up Dan!

Dabura is so underrated and one of the most wasted characters along with King Cold. Dabura was a super awesome sounding, looking, and with cool abilities. He was cool enough to be the villian of his own arc.

I do believe that Dabura was wasted potential. There are a few characters who are wasted potential, including: Raditz (I know that Raditz was the key to all of Dragon Ball Z, so he wasn't entirely wasted, but I do still feel like he was wasted quite a bit, because he is Goku's literally blood sibling, he could have been a tie to Goku's past and his parents and other things like that, and Goku has climbed so many levels now that he is basically a "God." Raditz could have been up there considering that he is actual blood. I want Raditz to come back so badly!!!) King Cold Dabura Babbidi (Babbidi was not all of that. It was supposed to be Majin Buu's whole era. However, I would have liked to see more out of Babbidi because he was a magic based opponent, and I really wanted to see more magic from him where he can challenge physically powerful people in another way than pure power, but after Majin Buu came out Babbidi was literally just a guy barking orders to Majin Buu and it was all mainly Majin Buu from there, which makes sense, but Babbidi was... I feel like he could have been used for more than he was in magic and different things like that.)

I think Dabura was only Super Perfect Cell level because of the boost that the Majin mark gives him. Either the way that puts him on cells level but I think on his own he’s probably around Perfect cell, or at the very least Mastered Super Saiyan Goku from that arc.

The Demon King is usually the last boss for many different series, that the main characters must defeat to save the world. However, for Dabura, the Demon King had easily beaten and turn into a cookie by Majin Buu, that was just a lame way for the Demon King to be defeated. So, let's hope Gomah, the new Demon King gives Mini Goku and others a tough fight in DB Daima.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, as I could easily be misinterpreting or mis- remembering key details. But I think what could have signaled Dabura to the Z fighters as a source for Buu/Boo in both timelines was not a specific character, or even a specific encounter per se, but a limit being reached and/or broken. And that is roughly around the the ceiling of SSJ1, and the floor of SSJ2. Hear me out. So in present timeline, Gohan broke the barrier between SSJ 1 and 2. That tips Dabura and Babidi off in Present Timeline. Trunks was comparable to Vegeta at that time, maybe a little weaker, right? Vegeta was definitely reaching his ceiling for SSJ at that time, “Super Vegeta” was basically Vegeta’s take on taking SSJ1 to its limits, just as Goku’s was take was “Super Saiyan Grade 4/ Full power” light haired SSJ form. Well, didn’t Trunks die during the Cell Games in present timeline, before being revived and going back to his own? Zenkai means he might have hit that same ceiling of SSJ1 Gohan, Goku and Vegeta all hit. (With Gohan hitting floor of SSJ2, and Goku likely hitting it around the same time, upon arrival in other world) Then, Future Trunks, when he single-handedly wiped out 17, 18 and Cell in the Future Timeline, he broke the ceiling of SSJ1 and could have possibly hit floor of SSJ2, even if he didn’t transform into SSJ2 specifically, he might have hit floor of the hypothetical “prerequisite PL” so to speak that alerted Dabura. So, basically, the ceiling of Cell Games Era SSJ1 and the floor of Cell Games SSJ2 is broken by Gohan (and soon after Goku in other world, arguably) Future Trunks in the future, and that was the catalyst, not the Cell Games itself. Anytime before the Cell Games makes even less sense, given the timing of the Cell Games being an issue already. SSJ1 limit was broken on Namek which would have alerted Dabura to Namek, not Earth? It could still be SSJ1, but it doesn’t really stand out. Even if Dabura followed them back to Earth, the only Z fighter left is Trunks who at that time is weaker than SSJ1 (Namek Saga) level until he comes back after his visit to the past. Which kinda supports my SSJ2~ pre requisite PL theory. So as odd as it is, so far, only Cell Games fits and even then it’s kinda iffy. I mean, the seven strong warriors part is a little tricky, ngl as there’s various points where several characters are dead. And 7 is a pretty precise number. So we have a precise number, and a very imprecise measurement (as what does “strong” mean when Dabura brings up the 7?) As for what took them 7 years to finally show up? That’s the only thing that isn’t answered with any potential point, in either timeline. But I do think the PL “pre-requisite” would be satisfied in both timelines, as they do show up in both. So I feel like what drew them to the Z fighters in both timelines has a potential answer, less so with why they chose to wait at a minimum, for seven years. Long hypothesis aside, I love the deep dive here. Your videos always do their research and tend to reveal inspirations, or other key little details that I don’t see often highlighted in a concise, and easy to listen to way.
