Favorite bug? Probably when, after firing my M4A1 for almost a full minute (pausing only to reload) the game seemed to forget that I HAD to reload and I spent the rest of the level mowing down every single xenomorph in my way with my now bottomless magazine. It didn't even stop in the cutscene at the end...over the dramatic dialog going on, you could hear the endless firing of my pulse rifle. I imagined one of the Marines looking at my guy going "Corporal Orca what the FUCK are you doing?" "Writing my name on the wall in bullets Sergeant! And making damn sure these vents are clear!" (Spray chews through an unfortunate xenomorph, which falls through the vent in bits)

My favorite glitch was definitely the boss fight with the power loader. I swung the same right arm over and over and over until suddenly my power loader began this animation of grabbing air with the left arm, and then drilling air with the right arm. Confused, I looked around at the boss a few yards away simply staring at me. The right arm stopped spinning at the air and the boss a few yards away continued to stare... then without warning the boss Alien promptly goes, "BLUGH!!!" AND FUCKING DIES FOR NO REASON. Best, Game, Ever.

My worst bug was that the game wouldn't let me quit. Every time I exited the game it would start back up again. Eventually I had to Alt+Tab out, find the game folder and start deleting things until the game was so broken it wouldn't run.

My favourite glitch is when you need to kill all the aliens to proceed to the next kill all aliens objective but can't find the last alien after walking around for 10 minutes to realise wait he probably fell through the universe so I reload the last check point do it all over again but oh boy still can't find the last one so I walk around for another 10 minutes to find he was hanging onto a wall in a really dark corner just sitting there with his navigation Ai broken -_-

My favorite glitch was the Aliens' AI, which was completely broken because the developers made a one-letter typo in an .ini file that anyone can fix in about 10 seconds. (unless you're on a console)

@@kaimerry1587 In the PecanEngine.ini file, the word "tether" is misspelled at one point as "teather", breaking some crucial parts of the aliens' AI. Source: I don't know where I originally read it, probably on Ars Technica, Reddit, or some other site. However, if you google "aliens colonial marines typo", you should find several articles with more information.

@@daniellewilson8527 From my understanding, the typo caused a certain bit of code to not run (because the typo in the script made the game look for a function containing "teather". That function didn't exist, since the real one used the correct spelling of "tether", so nothing happened). The bit of code that failed to run controlled things such as making the Xenomorphs perform flanking maneuvers, as well as telling them where the exits to a given space were (allowing them to use vents and such for maneuverability). Obviously, that doesn't solve the many other issues with the game, but it definitely had an impact on the AI.

My favorite bug was this one alien spun in a circle when we surrounded it. It kept dancing and my friends and I laughing that I swear we did it for 10 minutes just laughing at this highly evolved killing machine pole dancing to an invisible poll. I think he just kept trying to get a guy but his momentum led him into another guy which he spun to, repeat. I swear it was he best dance a video game character could ever do!

What annoys me is the xenomorphs were pretty easy to kill but the Weyland-Yutani guys were impossible to get past (for me at least). I'm sorry, but if you're making an Aliens game and the humans are the toughest opponents you done fucked up.

My favorite glitch was watching one of my fellow Marines clip through an Alien while they briefly shared a Ghost moment. All that was needed to complete it was Unchained Melody.

ok, favorite bug/glitch, i was at the same place Yathzee described, with the alien just standing still, though my doorway was not blocked, instead, a marine, got replaced(from frame to frame) with an alien, still holding his rifle, so only the model was swaped, and after a while, the alien i presume was supposed to kill the guy apeared, he vanished, and the alien killed the now empty air, where he was supposed to be standing at. which resulted in the alien, just stopping mid animation. i could not shoot it, i could not kill it, and it was now blocking my path. so i had to reload the save, only to watch it all happen again, after a restart of the game, it worked(somewhat)

Goblin Rat well, the biggest reason for people disliking it, is because its not quite the alien game, that was promised, along with a series of bugs(which have mostly been fixed by now) and because the trailer showed us a beautiful DirectX 11 world, with amazing graphics, which was released as a DirectX 10 game instead, which made the game look bad. i like the game, mostly because its an okay shooter game, sure the ai is not really a threat like in most other games, but i generally like shooter games, and the weapons are well done, though the sound and a few animations REALLY need some work. but hey, every man or woman his or her opinion. the only thing im really happy about, was i did not pay for it, as i was out of money when it was released, so i pirated it, and was dissapointed, but happy. just hope i can at some point get the DirecX 11 version to work(as its online, but it crashes for me)

I remember the broken ass game glitched on me in the second level where there was a bunch of lurkers and soldiers xenomorph, but after killing all of them I went to the door for my next objective, but then I started hearing growling and hissing from one lurker that didn't die, I went on to find and kill it. But it took over half an hour to find because it was stuck somewhere and all I was doing while listening to the very annoying hissing and growling, was walking around the very small map taking my aiming at everything that could, I even had to take out my motion tracker to find it, but it wasn't moving so it was hard, until I finally found it, it was literally staring at me in its leap position still hissing and stuff, to where I ended my misery by killing the damn thing and finally continuing the mission. God it was awful

My favorite glitch was during the battle against the raven boss in level 5. I was fighting it to the trophy for beating it under 1:10 seconds and after giving it a big right hook, it disappeared in the wall and wouldn't come out. It wasn't because I had corned it. No, it went through the wall and never came out. So I did everything I could to get it back: step away from the wall, stand in a far corner, waited a few minute, and nothing worked.

I do see this as a sort of final betrayal. At least the other games seemed like they were trying. Like getting a sandwich from a short order cook who honestly trying to make you a good sandwich but it's just not very good. Colonial Marines is the equivalent of ordering food at a really expensive restaurant only to find out that they're just serving frozen, McDonalds patties and that's the only thing on the menu.

Well Alien Isolation would have to fall squarely in that first category. It all depends, I suppose. But I they are trying very hard to make something that is, at the very least, engaging. We'll probably end up with a high budget Amnesia clone. Not my cup of tea, personally, but I think a lot of people will like it.

I played this on PS3 with a buddy and to be honest the game ran pretty smoothly. There was one rather interesting part during the stealth segment, when my friend was discovered by the aliens and they all ran towards him and surrounded him. But rather than blowing up like they'd done the last 70 billion times they just boxed him in from all sides and proceeded to sprint into him nonstop with me chanting in the background, "One of us! One of us!"

I know I'm a bit late to the party but, I will second that. It's an excellent game and it's free to play. Fun fact: It was also the concept design for Left 4 Dead. The story goes that it was so completed that Valve decided that it should be released on Steam once they hired that studio to help develop Left 4 Dead. In a way it was their application to join Valve. It showed off their ability to support a released title. :)

And the "writing" got me early as one of the first things you hear is a guy shouting "Chicks and dicks" when refering to the army of marines. I kinda got stuck on that line and for the rest of the game I could only think "people were paid to write this?"

I'd say my favorite glitch moment was the first facehugger encounter. My friends let me go in the room first to try and scare me, yet I happened​ to turn as it lunged at me and it missed. completely unaware there was one in the room, it kept trying to latch onto me for about 20 seconds before it apparently just gave up and started following me around like a pet. I named it Frederick... I even kneeled down and stared at it, talking to it as it stared back at me... then my friend shot it to pieces. R.I.P. my little friend.

Mine was when the game disc and my CD Drive had an exponentially escalating disagreement about who was more relevant in this newest decade that climaxed with the CD Drive deciding that the best way to sort everything out was with a high-speed rotary stress test. The CD Drive spun the game disc so hard and so fast that upon reaching PLAID levels of velocity, the game disc shattered into a million pieces and shredded the CD Drive (and other nearby portions of my tower) like a fragmentation grenade thrown into a house made of Styrofoam. In conclusion, this taught me a valuable (if oft forgotten) lesson about maintaining the moving parts in my computer as well as never buying any game until about a month afterwards, and when numerous Let's Plays and critiques have been posted onto KZbin for my perusal. A $59.99 videogame forged of lies, shoddy coding, and overpowering levels of sheer fail wound up costing me another $100 or so in order to clean up the mess. Also: fuck pre-ordering. Unless you value the devs that are creating it, pre-ordering serve you nothing as no copy of the game, physical and especially downloadable versions, will run out of inventory in any store a month into its release. Plenty of time to do research on it prior to buying.

My favorite glitch is how only very recently (like slightly over a year ago, and then picked up on by several gaming media in juli 2018) it was discovered that the alien AI is pretty much disabled, and changing one ini file makes the alien a 100 times more alien, i actually had fun revisiting the game after discovering that trick trough some youtube vid somewhere (just look for Aliens: Colonial Marines AI fix, you'll find it)

I’m fairly certain my favorite moment was when two aliens were glitched into one another in such a way as to appear like a Siamese twin, and then they started sprinting in opposite directions, stopped, looked at each other, looked at me, and then died simultaneously, likely out of embarrassmen.

My favorite glitch was when i tried to beat the same boss for about an hour. On roughly my tenth retry I looked around for the weird rhino alien thing for ten minutes all the while hearing sound effects that suggested that it was still around. Eventually I decided to look up, only to find that the rhino thing had learned the art of levitating 100 feet off of the ground. I then shot the fuck out of it and went about my day.

Yahztee does actually like some games; he doesn't just criticise for the hell of it. Pretty much everything he says has a point to it; if you listen he tries to see the good - if there is any - as well as the bad. It's like an AngryJoe review condensed into 5 minutes. :P

My favorite glitch was when me and my bro just finished playing multiplayer and went back to single player. Our cursor in single player and co-op switched to the multiplayer alien cursor and our hands, instead of holding guns, switched to some weird position and we gained some small distance telekinetic melee abilities. It was hilarious. We even managed to get an alien or two curled up on the walls to start floating outward in the curled position through the air stuck until they realized they weren't hidden any more.

My favorite is at the beginning when you're told to go find the scientist lady and i think someone else. I walked down the hallway they went and there they were. So i waited for a cut scene. My favorite glitch was when I was fighting the queen alien. I hit the final lever which was so nice because she came and stood directly in front of it waiting for me to launch her into the atmosphere. It launched and pushed her body but her head stayed there snapping at me and when the cut scene started her neck was stretched all the way across the room. What added to the hilarity was the fact that the body continued to "do its thing".

I get this is years old, and it's unlikely anyone's interested, but that Arabic script Yahtzee smashed on his keyboard spells out Michaela Malclella. Doesn't mean shit, I just thought I'd mention it.

Even more of a necropost here, but it's because I'm guessing the Yahtzee copy-pasted directly without realising that arabic script is written right-to-left and, as I thougt most people have seen, arabic letters mostly join to one another. My honourable friend here, John Denham, has indeed correctly read the letters' pronounciation, from right-to-left, likely missing what Yahtzee's error was. If you read the letters *incorrectly* (from left-to-right, as if you're reading it the way English would be written), then it correctly *spells* the arabic words pronounced "Al-salaam a'alaykum", meaning literally "peace be upon you", which is used as a very common, generic greeting / welcome in classical arabic. This bothered me the first time that I saw it as just lazy (as arabic letters mostly join up with each other within a word, and should have been clear that something was amiss when Yahtzee pasted them in like this that the letters were all disconnected from each other), however I only noticed your comment just now, years later, when I accidentally mouse-scrolled down when hoping to scroll a different window. Part of me is ashamed at putting time into such a pointless correction and explanation, but at least I'm technically correct - the best kind of correct. :-)
