I think motion controls are analogous to VR in that they will be great if the technology is there, currently it isn't however. I don't understand why so many people are dismissing them outright.

I'm guessing because people want perfection, and they want it now?.. That's as to the "dissing outright" element. It's perfectly acceptable to criticized inadequate functionality, but disowning a whole field of progressing technology is another thing.

BuFufilms Probably because motion controls for many games are more forced onto the player as the only or ideal way to play games that have them while VR seems to be more of an optional ad-on. The comparison I can think of is with the Kinect. People hated games that forced you to use the Kinect's motion controls but for optional features like doing voice commands to order your squad in Mass Effect, the people seemed to like the Kinect because that was an optional ad-on. The Virtual Boy could be another example, that part of the reason why it failed could have been because you had to use the headache inducing headset to play the damn thing, while Oculus and the like plan to be add-ons to games you can play without them. So for motion controls to succeed they probably need to be optional.

I think Bethesda did really well on e3. After Fallout 4 was announced the whole internet blew up. Especially when they announced that there is a real pip-boy in it (if you get the pre order that costs $120) Todd Howard dropped the damn F-bomb while on stage to announce that. They even showed off some gameplay footage and it looks AMAZING. They even showed off a new faction called the Commonwealth Minutemen (which was shown off in the Xbox One e3 show) and showed some of the combat inside the power armor. They even announced that mods that were created for PC will be available for the Xbox One. Seriously holy shit, modding on a console that is easy to use? That is unheard of. However, if Bethesda wants mods for PS4 they will need to ask Sony for permission or else no mods for PS4.

You make it real by putting a smartphone in it. It connects to your game and instead of using the pip-boy in game you can use the companion app. I even came up with a challenge for the companion app. I want to make this public so I want people to spread the word about this challenge. Here is the challenge: Creator: Armin Kefayati Name: The Haunted Pip-Boy™ Challenge: Have someone in your household take control of the companion app for Fallout 4. They get to control what armor you have and what weapon you have equipped. They will even control Stimpak and drug use. For instance, if the player who is not in control of the app does a Bad Karma act, then the person who controls the app punishes them by giving them a bad weapon for the current situation. If the act is a good karma act then the person who has the app rewards the person by equipping an item suitable for the current situation. Toxic Whiteout I'm with you on that. Totally hyped for Fallout 4. In regards to the crafting system, they did bring up a good point that Fallout's story and lore has always been about rebuilding society, so being able to build your own settlements is a logical step forward. That said, I'm most excited for weapon crafting and having more choices to customize my weapons.

***** Yes. Humans are stupid, as a general rule. There are exceptions, but not enough to base an argument off of in this case. "Pre-order opportunities" and "cinegraphic trailers" have been very specifically insulted and made fun of in most of the gaming/E3 talk circles I've visited, such as the gaming section on Memebase, Roosterteeth's The Know and The Patch, Spacebattles forums, LoadingReadyRun's Checkpoints, and a few "E3 discussion" Twitch streams.

Why don't people realize that controllers are immersive because they are simple and quick, that quickness replicates the brief lag every human has on their reaction time. Motion controls firstly always have dumb immersion controls, lack good response and generally restrict the ways someone con use the user interface
