Sony has great image quality. Frankly, most cameras these days have good to great image quality. Sony's only downfall right now is that 8-bit codec. And lack of Panasonic-level of IBIS and flippy screen. If Sony were to toss out an a7iv with a flippy screen, 10-bit codec, and Panasonic-like IBIS... Thanks so much for this super useful video. I'm going to get the a6600 for static vlogging in a small room and REALLY want the blurry depth background. I'm doing my head in trying to work out what lens to get (I'm a complete camera noob). Any suggestions on compatible lens that will give me blurry background would be sooo welcomed!

Lots of good info! I've been flipping back and forth about upgrading to an eos r or a sony. I'm really wanting to move from a g85 to a gh5 but I do some recording at conventions with a gimbal and need a good auto focus.

I'm in a similar position. Ready to get rid of my G85, the autofocus is dreadful. I look at the A6600 and the quality is insane, but the IBIS seems to be really awful for walking and talking!!

so here is my dilema , i like night time photography , / astro , branching out to do stock photography and stock video ....... the a6400 , a6600 and a used a73 / a7r3 are very close price wise ..... which way do i go ?
@raymondallen79244 жыл бұрын
It just depends on how much you want to spend on lenses. It's definitely a lot cheaper going with the a6400/6600 cause Sigma make some really amazing E mount lenses (especially the 16mm f1.4 which is my go-to) and native Sony prime E mount lenses with OSS are very inexpensive too. Also, I feel for running-and-gunning, the a6400/6600 is the more inviting for me cause of the size and weight factor. Honestly, though, you can't go wrong either way. This is coming from someone that owns an a6100, a6400, and A7RII.

at night, the a7iii is obviously the better choice, your getting a lot more light in, less noise.

@@thefowlyetti2 For astrophotography, I haven't seen a big difference comparing my a6400 w/Sigma 16mm f1.4 and my A7RII w/Sony 24mm f1.4 since the only adjustment I have to make is a slight adjustment to my shutter speed. Likewise, I haven't seen a big difference when shooting concerts either. Just my experience though

@@raymondallen7924 and apc-s lenses, especially sigma, rokinson, are way cheaper than full frame lenses and usually apc are way lighter in weight

Depth of field. No. At a certain point, it's just blurriness. The a6600 is as blurry as you should ever go. We should be worried about sharper images. BTW, the a6600 does have a record limit of 13.5 hours. I also prefer the 6600 to RED cameras, maybe because it's dynamic range blow-out is so gorgeous. That's my "bokeh". A beautiful dynamic range fall-off that makes the image look better than reality. The way Sony handles dynamic range drop-off is better than film. I mean, at some point we have to start talking about "better than film". Especially since we're long past that paradigm.

I am concerned that to get into pro photography, I do need full frame. I’ve developed a lot within 3 months with an A6400 and want to get into street/car/event/promotional photography for my school. Any thoughts?

There is no eye auto focus in the video mode of the A6400, wich A6600 does.
