Speaking of Bruno's knowledge of his body in space, I love when he rises from his knees...he knows exactly where Anderson and the other singers are in the choreography. He falls in synch with them effortlessly.

So I know I've watched a few videos. I ended up subscribing today. The absolutely visceral reactions you have to music is all the 'happy chemicals' one needs for the day. Wow. Several times during some a capella pieces I've seen you quite almost literally do a 'hold it together, do NOT ugly cry on camera' expression'. You are in the correct line of work. Music sings to your soul, and it is very very easy to see that. Keep doing what you do. Everyone can use that sorta emotional lift watching your enthusiasm and amazing demonstrations AND/or explanations of what we are seeing.

As a child of the 70s, you are so appreciated for APPRECIATING!! I was a trained singer as well yet minimal gift, so I can follow your critique (or non- critique in this case). When this was released, the group was incredibly criticized for what they were NOT and wanting more of Bruno's original work. Im only guessing younger fans. I was astounded. These people really did not get what was happening here. He didn't invent the genre but brought back decades old funk/soul that was lost and enhanced a bit. Little known fact: Andy and Bruno studied 70s funk thoroughly before making the record. They consulted with major producers, engineers, and musicians of "the day" to learn exactly which instruments, skins on drums, technical mixers, etc., to make the sound absolutely authentic with no modern toys. Same number and type of microphones and recorded with entire band in same studio space together. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!! Who does this anymore? It was tedious and exhausting but it had to be correct. I get tired of the genres that have repeated formulaic records recorded piecemeal and mixed. No surprises. It's pleasant but not artful. Like having a template. If anyone can hear Silk Sonic and not have an explosion of happy hormones and a need to move your feet, we just can't be friends, lol. Those critics are eating their hat since the Grammys!! I saw those awards coming a mile away.

Awesome review & reaction. I would like to see your review of their live performance of the same song at the American Music Awards. 'Smokin' Out the Window' was in fact written over 5 years ago and was the first song written for the album while Anderson .Paak was on tour with Bruno Mars. 'Leave The Door' open was written much later.

I've tried to watch a number of reviews about these songs and {'ve had to give up as they're just so contrived and they all seem to blather on about nothing - either that or they somehow make it about themselves. Your videos are really interesting and informative, especially comparing how they're singing to how they could sing, or how the vocal style would normally be - and with demonstrations too!!
