im a (female) middle school teacher and i see girls treated like poor caitlyn all the time - if they are more beautiful, intelligent, athletic, or popular with boys than the others while not exactly fitting in with the other girls (either due to race/morals/personality/etc), the other girls will hate her/gossip about her/call her a "pick me"/exclude her no matter how kind she is to them in return. caitlyn's response was nothing but supportive, classy and kind, but i have a feeling the other women who hate her will be able to project all kinds of malice and passive-aggressiveness into it. its got a name and everything: "tall poppy syndrome".

It's crazy that everything is focused on hype and all of that instead of winning. Clark can't win, so everyone is focusing in on the money she brings in and everything instead of what's important in sports. I'm reminded of the great rant of Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game. Hello!" With Clark I guess that wisdom goes out the window.

Them trying to “protect” chennedy carter - “that’s enough” - is clown show. Wanna be a serious league? Be accountable like the men. These women are EMBARRASSING themselves. She plays like Steph Curry - that’s why people like her. Women saying “I hit a 3 once - why aren’t I as popular” is like a man saying “I dunked once, why am I not as popular as Michale Jordan”. If the WNBA fails it’s because of the players. They would rather fail than have someone else be the face of the league.

Very clear - 6 Olympics? 42 years old and still holding on rather than mentoring and nurturing the most talented player to ever come out of women’s college basketball. Very sad to see a woman who has not matured at all over the last 20 years and then setting the tone for the rest of the league to act like spoiled high schoolers. Caitlin never claimed she was going to come into the league and average 35 or 40 right off the bat. But averaging 15-20 points a game is not unexpected given her prolific shooting and average 6-7 assists is also not unexpected. Neither of these things disappear because of so-called physicality.

You have no idea what in the hell you're talking about! This means that the statement you made is from someone who doesn't follow the WNBA but is a fanatic for Catlin Clark. No, she isn't better than 12 chosen. She will be on the Olympic team eventually. However, you Catlin Clark fanatics need to sit down somewhere.

Yeaaaa I luv the the WNBA as a league and it's getting better. But these women are self destructive due to anger issues, jealousy, and too much pride to realize that they're setting the league back 5 steps.

I've never thought Caitlyn Clark was particularly pretty tbh. She's average or above average but she's not a supermodel or anything. Basketball has been a black sport for the last few decades so idk what they're talking about with white privilege.

White people are obligated to care about black people playing sports. No one watched when Caitlyn Clark wasn't there. White player comes and does well, people watch. That's the privilege. Of course it's absurd. Black people get so much outsized attention compared to their population size that people in surveys overestimate their population by 3x. Not to mention they're allowed to have overt racial hostility and tribalism, allowed to have advocacy organizations, have excuses made for them constantly, etc.

White people get the privilege of being criticized for being successful while being White. What's funny is there's this implication that it's bad for White people to watch other White people doing things. Back in the 50s, there was a big stink made about black children preferring to play with White dolls. It was said that this showed a lack of self esteem and worth, and was due to oppression. Now, there's a moral obligation and demand that White people behave the same way and do nothing but deprecate themselves and fawn over people who are not them.

It's a little different. With these girls, I feel like the hate is due to jealousy. At the point when the cavs drafted lebron, kids out of high school weren't coming into the league and dominating from the start. It took them all time to develop. A guy like miles knew how that went first hand. I do feel guys like miles and ricky Davis could have been due to jealousy, but at least Carlos boozer changed stances almost immediately after they got to work. He ended up calling lebron the best player on the team.

@Parodyzrus with guys like miles and Davis, I can def see that. Especially ricky Davis, he was as selfish as it got in the NBA. But at least there was a track record to kids out of high school failing. But overall, I do agree that the situations are pretty similar overall.

He did have the same jealousy But the Difference is that The Women of the Olympics women’s basketball committee let their emotions, envy and jealousy get in the way of Business. That’s Like Shaq or Kobe Trying to Keep Lebron off the Olympics team after they won championships But before he Actually Won one. We Knew he was the new Face of the league and the Single biggest draw in the League, Nobody in the World would have Agreed to that besides a committee of Skip Bayless’s
