im a (female) middle school teacher and i see girls treated like poor caitlyn all the time - if they are more beautiful, intelligent, athletic, or popular with boys than the others while not exactly fitting in with the other girls (either due to race/morals/personality/etc), the other girls will hate her/gossip about her/call her a "pick me"/exclude her no matter how kind she is to them in return. caitlyn's response was nothing but supportive, classy and kind, but i have a feeling the other women who hate her will be able to project all kinds of malice and passive-aggressiveness into it. its got a name and everything: "tall poppy syndrome".

Very clear - 6 Olympics? 42 years old and still holding on rather than mentoring and nurturing the most talented player to ever come out of women’s college basketball. Very sad to see a woman who has not matured at all over the last 20 years and then setting the tone for the rest of the league to act like spoiled high schoolers. Caitlin never claimed she was going to come into the league and average 35 or 40 right off the bat. But averaging 15-20 points a game is not unexpected given her prolific shooting and average 6-7 assists is also not unexpected. Neither of these things disappear because of so-called physicality.

She played the top team on Monday got exposed so bad by Black players as you mentioned her coach benched her halfway through the 3rd and didn't return. It's barely considered a sport at this point and people primarily watch the for the spectacle of the types of human selective breeding can develop, which is fine. I think caitlin is pretty not in the way that people are tuning in because theyre sexually attracted to her, but more that she's pretty enough to be approachable, and she doesnt go along with the stereotype that female basketballs players are particularly unattractive

Most people like her because she's good. Has the accolades and the mix tape to prove it. People want to see it. And they want to see it more when they essentially become bullied and are the underdog. But, this is the WNBA and nowadays. Part of me is worried for her health. She has no clue the actual hate and anger the players have towards her. There's a bunch of layers from a bunch of check the boxes reasons.

I also agree that people like her becuz shes good, the 3s and dunks, and the whole underdog mentality part, and a lot of other stuff. But i do think think she has an approachability physically to following her that some of these other WNBA stars dont and thats where the attractiveness component plays a part

@@tbtoosmoove actually no Reese isn't. Reese is shooting lower percentage and 90 percentage of her shots are within 10 ft. Literally the only stat she is doing better than Clark in is offensive rebounds (which you would hope a PF could do better than a PG). And Clark was doing better defensive rebounding until their most recent games. And Reese still has only one block (something Clark surpassed in individual games a couple times)

The reality is, that nobody cares about Reese outside of her own echo chamber. Reese is just loud. She doesn't have a fraction of records that Clark has. She transfered from Maryland to chase a ring, because she couldn't win there. Then Reese got spanked in both games that LSU played vs Iowa. The first game, LSUs bench absolutely carried that game. The second game, Iowa won with Reese also doing nothing except for fouling out. It's comical that people actually think that Reese can hold a candle to Clark in any way

Of course it's absurd. Black people get so much outsized attention compared to their population size that people in surveys overestimate their population by 3x. It's a little different. With these girls, I feel like the hate is due to jealousy. At the point when the cavs drafted lebron, kids out of high school weren't coming into the league and dominating from the start. It took them all time to develop. A guy like miles knew how that went first hand. I do feel guys like miles and ricky Davis could have been due to jealousy, but at least Carlos boozer changed stances almost immediately after they got to work. He ended up calling lebron the best player on the team.
