I hope that this doesn’t keep Qualcomm from making a second generation. These chips don’t really seem appealing compared to Apple, Intel, or AMD offerings, but I would love more competition in efficiency.

Several countries have implemented bans or restrictions on Huawei products, primarily due to security concerns and geopolitical tensions. Here are some of the key countries: * United States: The US has imposed comprehensive bans on Huawei, prohibiting US companies from doing business with the Chinese tech giant. * Australia: Australia has banned Huawei from participating in its 5G network rollout. * New Zealand: New Zealand has also banned Huawei from its 5G network. * Japan: Japan has restricted the use of Huawei equipment in its 5G network. * Taiwan: Taiwan has banned the use of Huawei equipment in its government agencies. * United Kingdom: The UK initially allowed Huawei to participate in its 5G network but later tightened restrictions and ultimately phased out its equipment. It's important to note that the specific restrictions and bans may vary over time, and some countries may have eased or tightened their policies.

Soon enough more should buy laptops with Snapdragon CPU or at least any ARM CPUs. They're already proven for mobile computing as they greatly contribute to dramatic longer battery life. My Snapdragon powered Lenovo laptop last way longer unplugged compared to my former x86 laptops yet without sacrificing performance and with same screen brightness on my ARM laptop. As with my former X86 laptop, at best it could last an hour while unplugged or I had to reduce brightness and CPU performance. To consumers, I strongly recommend Snapdragon X powered laptops. They last a lot longer while unplugged and with same brightness as well as the same CPU performance. I used to have a X86 laptop but not only it anymore.

Snapdragon laptops need a superior AI chip that could run 16B size llm models. Something that can draw images, write answers, has higher memory to enable the system for advanced AI operations which is extremely expensive to run on 16gb GPU.

I find the SD laptops a great idea but the compatibility hinders it from getting more attention.

What needs to happen is Microsoft needs to convince to developers to port their programs over to arm. Jot only that, but they also need to stop focusing on the artificial demand of ai. If recall does indeed invade privacy, then they have discontinue it and keeping working on optimizing windows on arm.

The HUGE NO-NO for not buying a Huawei product is that they don't have Google or Microsoft support.

SnapDragon failure became obvious the the second intel released their chip which had much better GPU performance. just as power efficient as SD, and on x86 platform.

Have you checked out battery life on ARM powered laptops? My Lenovo Yoga last a lot longer on battery unplugged and yet without having to dim the screen nor reduce CPU performance. Put it this way my Snapdragon Lenovo is faster, brighter and last way longer than x86 laptops unplugged. And my Lenovo Yoga ISN'T a SD laptop. It's a 3K HD laptop. My config on this laptop is on max yet still last 10 hours on battery. I had to either reduce screen brightness and CPU performance of my former x86 laptop or had to bear an ultra short battery life which could last an hour at best.

3 years behind is not a problem if the software is well optimized. Harmony OS is doing just that. Besides benchmarks never reflect real world performance

The "ARM Wave" all of these x86 haters begged for never happened! Crazy... Almost like Apple has been trying to do this for 6 years with their iPad Pro and 4 years with their Macs and they STILL haven't gotten full support for even a proper Bootcamp successor yet. x86 is easily going to be the primary architecture for all power users up to the 2030s
@t8polestarcyan2214 сағат бұрын
I would like to stick on x86 but not anymore. They're now more suited for desktops and servers as ARM are far more efficient for mobile computing. My Lenovo Yoga Snapdragon is doing so well that x86s are no longer suited for unplugged mobile computing. I see lots of people plugging their x86 laptops in libraries.

@@t8polestarcyan22 I mean, Core Ultra 200V somehow managed to get higher battery life and performance than the Snapdragon chips. To be honest, I have no idea how they managed to pull it off.

@@RobloxianX Good to know. Next thing is to see how that really goes. My Snapdragon really do last 5 - 10 hours on battery WITHOUT any "sacrificial" tweaks. It's a moment of truth to see if that happens on that Core Ultra 200V.

I used to have Huawei P90. it was confiscated by U.S government. They actually cut of landline and remove all Huawei land line. Yes, I saw it. there's cameo dudes, telephone companies installing new transmitter box. US government even confiscated all huawei phones at Best Buy, Target, etc. U.S government cannot let you have it. Not everywhere in USA and Chinatown.

I want Snapdragon X laptop but all of those are expensive AF while cannot do more than any regular laptop except its superior battery life. The problem is Ryzen mobile chip can do 1 day battery life. You are rarely need 2 days battery life laptop. 2 days battery life is nice to have but not twice the better than 1 day battery life.
@t8polestarcyan2214 сағат бұрын
Expensive? I'd say not with my Lenovo Yoga 3K Snapdragon X Elite. As for battery life I don't need to make "sacrificial" tweaks on my ARM laptop which I normally do on my former x86 laptops otherwise my x86 could last an hour at best.

@@t8polestarcyan22 you are living in the europe or NA, I assume. So... as a comparison, a local brand offers $450, 14" with Ryzen 5 6600H + 16GB RAM + 512GB NVMe. It can do work minimum 5 hour office job on battery. It is the point... affordable laptop for everyone. That laptop you mention is priced USD 1444 in a country where median income is around $400. Just remember that majority of people live in Asia and Asia is not known for its wealth. The question is... if AMD can do cheap with Ryzen 5 6600H why can't Qualcomm make one? Remember that Ryzen 6600H uses Zen3+ which has great balance between performance and power consumption. Make a $600 laptop with Snapdragon, the cheapest SKU, with at least 16GB RAM and see how it will sell. Based on my observation, the cheapest laptop with Snapdragon X plus is priced around $750 and it is not even selling well.
