I wanted to point out how much I appreciate how you do your tutorials, and how I wish other KZbin channels would learn from your example. It's so nice to watch/follow along with you, and not have music constantly in the background. I love hearing your thought process, and it feels like we're in the room together. Thank you Lindsay for always being out there with us!

I'm such a happy camper to have all of them now. Such beautiful colours!

I use second hand lp's for this, you know the 12'? Plug the hole in the center with a bit of tissue and PVA, give it at least one serious coat of gesso and your good to go. Pretty cheap 'canvas'.

This is beautiful. I am curious, why do you think these particular paints male you feel free(er) to experiment than traditional paints? I admire your skill to create this landscape with just a few brush strokes at the beginning. It was the perfect "scaffolding" to support the rest of the piece. Loved watching you do this. I have some round papers that I haven't used yet. Will give them a try. Thanks a lot for this!

Beautiful painting Lindsay. I have a question unrelated to this video, but in the Grumbacher Academy watercolor tube paints there is a Cadmium red deep hue, Cadmium red medium hue, and a Cadmium red light hue - the same in the Cadmium yellow's as well. (?) If I wanted to pick one red or one yellow for part of my primary colors, how do I know if I need the deep hue, medium hue or light hue? I hope my question makes sense. Anyway, in case anyone is interested, this week at Hobby Lobby the Grumbacher Academy watercolor tube paints are on sale for $2.99 per tube, that are regularly priced at $4.99 per tube. This sale ends Saturday and I don't think they go on sale again for two weeks, or maybe it's once a month. I haven't gotten to track the sale ads that much yet. Anyway Lindsay, thanks for sharing your time, knowledge and inspirations. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

The reasoning is hard to explain in a comment but I recommend a split primary palette. I have a video about it on my channel.
@TheLord_MyShepherd2 жыл бұрын
HI Becky, Usually your deep reds are cooler and light reds are warmer (so use one of each for a split primary palette which employs 6 colours) and medium reds are more neutral so use them for a primary trio (limited to 3 colours). For yellows, darker yellows are warmer (closer to red) and lighter yellows are cooler (closer to green) so choose one of each for a split primary, and medium yellows are more neutral so use them for a primary trio. Hope that's helpful.
@TheLord_MyShepherd2 жыл бұрын
P.S in case you're also wondering about blues, colors like cerulean blue are cool (closer to green) ultramarine is a warmer blue (closer to red) so choose both for a split primary, and pthalo is a great neutral mixing blue for a primary trio.

Love this round one. Your brush skills are so crazy good. Spent more time watching and noting your grip on the brush. Question on the Gauci paints? Maybe I missed it, and apologies but what makes it different from watercolor? The pros and cons? Can tell you really used that palette.
@thefrugalcrafter2 жыл бұрын
They are a traditional Chinese paint so they are designed for rice paper. They are just a bit different. A little thicker.

@@thefrugalcrafter Gotcha, thank you. For your list of tutorial ideas, how about just brush skills? Over time, I have picked out some of your tips on brush maneuvers, but maybe all in one place would let us compare and go back to reference. You might already have one that I haven't seen.
@beckyb40742 жыл бұрын
Hello Lindsay, I'm sure I've watched that video. And I understand what you've said about the split primary colors, but what I don't know - is how to choose from the deep, medium or light hues of the reds or the yellows? I have the list of split primary colors plus a few nice to have colors you've given me. And I surely don't want to be a bother. Sometimes it's hard to put a question into understandable written words. If anyone else would like to chime in, I'd be okay with that too. Thanks for everything. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

any suggestions on framing or presentation of round watercolors
@thefrugalcrafter2 жыл бұрын
I'd mount it on colored board and mat with a contrasting color leaving the colored mounting board visible and frame it in a square record albim fram as they are affordable.

How does the Paul Rubens round watercolor block compare to the other brand of round watercolor blocks that you've used? Which one is best in your opinion? I thought that you used Arteza before, but I looked on Amazon for the Arteza round WC blocks this morning and nothing came up for the search. Am I mistaken on the brand that you previously used?
@thefrugalcrafter2 жыл бұрын
Arteza has been sold out for months so I recommended the PR because a good online friend of mine likes is and has created beautiful work on it and when I asked her about it she highly recommended it. Also I like the other Paul Rubens papers I've tried so I thought it was rather to recommend that one over the other no-name brands Amazon sells. I don't know why Arteza comes out with stuff they never restock. Especailly when they ask me to review it but by the time I've used it enough to do a review its gone! Anyway, that's why I linked to Paul rubens paper. Feel free to trace a plate and make your own paper:)

@thefrugalcrafter2 жыл бұрын
Depends. I'd mount it on a board that looks nice and cut a square mat to go around that, then I'd frame it in a 12x12 album frame. It's a standard size so it's cheap and I can have 2 accent colors with the mat and mount. I do my own framing so my cost is low.
