Ah, back in the day when Venice Beach was a safe and fun, and slightly weird place to be, in a good way. And yes, I'm 62 and the Gap Band still makes me want to get up and dance. I've not heard a song in a long long time, that makes me want to dance.
@irawardofficial Жыл бұрын
Lot of people don't know this but, The Gap brothers were really talented and it was a pleasure working with them and seeing it all unfold. Charlie would do all his vocals in one take, unbelievably talented! I laid all of the ground tracks on this one at Capitol Records studio in Hollywood back in 1983. I remember this session like yesterday. R.I.P. Robert and Ronny!

I'm 77+, & I used to work at a club called "Dance Your Ass Off" in downtown San Diego...there was NO getting service from the wait/management staff when this jam came on. We might've had a couple dozen folks working, but they'd all throw down what they were busy with & invade the postage-stamp-sized dance floor en masse(pardon my inability to effectively use the hybrid Swedish/Japanese/Martian dialective conglomeration in which my pet rats were raised back in the day-) with manic enthusiasm. It could get awkward. It could become most definitely painful. Some of us would fall down, repeatedly, but nobody seemed to mind. Sadly I don't think folks are capable of going backward...I mean ...[generalizing here] you wish for a return to those times which were mostly giant cellphone free, no one had a computer. We'd get our news from tv/radio, newspapers and magazines. Guys would actually have to wander out of their parents basements to find the young lady he was interested in to talk/hang out and go to her parents house to ask for a date. How on earth would we even be able to go back to all that without some messed up scenario? LOL.

I'm 52 and I jamjamjam out to this stuff. No substitute for the brothers and their bass. It lives on. I live in Tulsa - Greenwood Archer Pine area is my old hood and my late grandfather was a trumpet player in the original gap band.. Sadly, I never heard their music cuz I'm stuck on these guys!

heavy metal signatures arose from real funk and disco written by real musicians. thats' why even hardcore metal heads find themselves bobbing to great songs like this and many others tracks.
