Los Angeles in the 80’s seems like a magical time. I’m sure those people had no idea that a random day for them 40 years ago that people would be watching them.

yes, that people would be watching their normal day and thinking it was the best thing ever. And they are right. it's easy to corrupt a simple freaking concept.

Ah, back in the day when Venice Beach was a safe and fun, and slightly weird place to be, in a good way. And yes, I'm 62 and the Gap Band still makes me want to get up and dance. I've not heard a song in a long long time, that makes me want to dance.

Lot of people don't know this but, The Gap brothers were really talented and it was a pleasure working with them and seeing it all unfold. Charlie would do all his vocals in one take, unbelievably talented! I laid all of the ground tracks on this one at Capitol Records studio in Hollywood back in 1983. I remember this session like yesterday. R.I.P. Robert and Ronny!

That's so cool! What an accomplishment. I just want to say thank you for having a hand in bringing their music to the masses. It's not a party until the Gap Band starts playing. It's also scientifically impossible to be sad when listening to their music.

Every once in awhile I have to comeback to this video and remember that incredible day on Venice Beach. The only thing that makes being 65 tolerable are the incredible and fantastic memories of Los Angeles in the 80's and being part of it.

Yep, you definitely won out in the game of life in regard to timing. You were not only old enough to remember all of the 80s, but you got to enjoy it as an adult too! OMG, the fashions, the music, the quality of manufactured goods, the purchasing power of a dollar, the coke without any fentanyl in it.. and you get to check out from natural causes well before the world is destroyed from climate change. Good times.

I'm 77+, & I used to work at a club called "Dance Your Ass Off" in downtown San Diego...there was NO getting service from the wait/management staff when this jam came on. We might've had a couple dozen folks working, but they'd all throw down what they were busy with & invade the postage-stamp-sized dance floor en masse(pardon my inability to effectively use the hybrid Swedish/Japanese/Martian dialective conglomeration in which my pet rats were raised back in the day-) with manic enthusiasm. It could get awkward. It could become most definitely painful. Some of us would fall down, repeatedly, but nobody seemed to mind. Many billion yrs later(+ -👀), those memories help to keep this old shaky-booty-being being one. Thank you, Lord, thank you, dear Gap Band, & thank you to my{alleged} brain!!! 🎶Y'all stay joyful & SAFE.🎶

Those were fun times! Great music from both the 70s and the 80s. Yes, they were more innocent times but that was before "social media". Sadly I don't think folks are capable of going backward...I mean ...[generalizing here] you wish for a return to those times which were mostly giant cellphone free, no one had a computer. We'd get our news from tv/radio, newspapers and magazines. Guys would actually have to wander out of their parents basements to find the young lady he was interested in to talk/hang out and go to her parents house to ask for a date. How on earth would we even be able to go back to all that without some messed up scenario? LOL.

I'm using my husband's phone but we're in our late 50s now and love being part of Gen X. No cell phones, Internet, we got out and met people, went to parties and clubs and danced, everyone was in shape too bc we were out doing stuff unlike some ( not all) kids today. Great times, wish I could go back but at least I enjoyed it once 🎉 God bless everyone reading this

Makes this ol guys heart hurt to see what has happened. Get on the Party Train, we’re all the same and life goes by fast, have fun, laugh lots, love lots none of us gets out alive. ❤️
