Picked up a brand new 2018 Lowrider last month (Temecula, Ca HD) swingarm was binding. The pivot bolt nut was torqued to the 170ft lb factory specs. The bearings appeared proper. Backed off and re-torqued the pivot bolt nut to a more sensible 80ft lb and now smooth and free movement. The factory specs are not right! 154-170 is waay over what’s required to keep the pivot stable.

I, only about a week ago, went to a Motorcycle Dealer to look at a 2018/19 Fat Boy and I actually sat on it. Thought the suspension was a bit stiff. I have seen videos that showed the suspension adjustment. Asked has this been setup for a heavy pe4son? I kinda sat down hard to test the suspension, to get an idea of the spring but nothing. Nothing. No bouncy or anything. I wonder if this model too has an issue.

Hey, do you happen to know the swing arm pivot’s bolt torque spec? Mine was loose and i don’t have the manual😅 that’ll be very helpful
@PotatoeJoe692 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's not something that is common at all, since the bearings are pressed in by individual people instead of robots on a line. Someone simply made a mistake during assembly.
@northboundcycles98324 жыл бұрын
Found mine to move freely as well thankfully. Was already that far into it starting a build on a 2019 FXBB and it’s a quick and easy check. The new Softails are setup much easier and a bit more simple and functional. I’m not sure how these types of issues could pass the quality control people at Harley. It’s a little disheartening.

Can you do an updated review of your Whiplash seat? Been looking at purchasing one for my street bob.
@TheGingybeardMan4 жыл бұрын
My thoughts of the seat havn't changed since the 1st review, only thing I didn't mention in that 1st review was that the seat doesn't align 100% with the fender strutts either side. The left side of the seat runs flush with the left fender strutt but the right side of the seat is about 10mm off being flush with the right fender strutt. I didn't really notice it until the other day. 👍

Dealing with this issue now on my 2020 Deluxe. Bike is still under warranty and been in the shop for 6 days. I have read a few people say that Harley’s fix is to loosen the swingarm bolt and re torque. Dumbest thing I ever heard. Hoping that’s not all they are going to do on my bike. There is obviously something causing this issue. The bike was so squeaky to ride with the swingarm completely seized up. Hope it gets fixed the right way and not half assed.
@TheGingybeardMan5 ай бұрын
Hope they fix it properly for you mate and not just loosen the swingarm bolt.

@@TheGingybeardMan Thanks Brother! I will repost the fix if they do a proper one.

Well verdict is in on my bike. Dealer called me and tell me the swingarm pivot shaft needs replacing. Apparently they can’t get it back in. 🤦♂️ They tell me the part is on back order with no eta. I chatted with friends and various people on forums and they tell me that they have waited 6 months to a year on no eta parts. What an absolute crock of 💩! I have been emailing various Harley Dealers in the US and seeing if they may possibly have the shaft in stock. Funny thing is that I can get an aftermarket one made by Bare Knuckle Performance online…I would have to pay for it and of course I would have to pay the dealer to install it because my warranty is not going to cover the work. It blows my mind that Harley doesn’t have a warehouse with available parts ready to order. I made the call to corporate and they are looking into the part…which we both know is not going to go anywhere. I love Harley but I think this might be my last one.
@TheGingybeardMan5 ай бұрын
@@VincentVagabond far out mate that sucks. I'd be going with the aftermarket one, no way would I be waiting 6 months unless they want to provide you with a replacement ride.
@VincentVagabond5 ай бұрын
@@TheGingybeardMan Aftermarket is where I am headed but it’s just the principle of it all you know. Why should I have to pay all that money. The part and labour for a bike under warranty. It just ain’t right. Good to chat and vent about it all the same. 👊🤙

Have you had any trouble out of your transmission or shifting like a ghost gear so you shift down to first gear and it doesn't lock in place and continues to shift or move down and then locked in gear
@TheGingybeardMan4 жыл бұрын
Yes mate I had that issue when my bike was brand new. Harley changed the transmission oil to harley synth 3 oil as the run in oil is really thin. Also lowered my shifting lever alot and adjusted my clutch. I have no issues any more 👍

Hey Gingy really good channel. Keep up the good work. I'm looking/thinking of up grading to the Street Bob. I was wondering if you have had any oil issues with your Harley? My Iron 883 was bought new last year but it's using oil, a lot. It will use down to the refill line from service to service. Entire sump in 8000klms. I was wondering if you have had any oil issues with the Street Bob? I'm aware of misting etc but this seems a lot for a new engine. So yeah, any oil loss? Cheers in advance enjoy your channel. Cheers from Brisbane.
