nice job mate as always, what causes silicone in the paint job usually happens in clear is that sometimes oil and water combined from compressor gets trough the filter if the filter is not been replaced for some time that's why now heaps of people prefer screw type compressor

Another awesome job. Man your clear coats look awesome. Never get tired of watching your videos , can't wait to get to a few small jobs I have but I'm definitely following the things you say work well

After 100 hours of Gunny videos this is how I do it in my garage. Rip it down with 500 on DA with interface pad then 600 sometimes 800. Base spot repair with ANI r150 or r160 1.0 cap. Then SMASH on 3 coats clear with Pro-Lite T110! Denib sand 1500, 2000, 3000 cut buff polish wax!

Totally get where you're coming from Gunny- I'm nearly at the end of a very intensive custom bike job and dusted off the GTI Pro Lite Nebula with the T110 cap and wondered why I'd been dicking about with a Sata and Sagola for the clearcoats- that thing totally smashed the clear on like glass. Interesting that the Lotus Edition and Dv1 are back in the box- you're so fickle, lol! I envy your flash-off times, 'cos we're down to single figures during the daytime in the UK, but not drinking for 18 months? Man, you're missing a trick- get out there and DRINK some shit!!

I dawn all cars that come into the shop. Had a few miserable jobs like that just covered in slime. Dawn in a foam gun works pretty well. My shop is already dirty enough. Definitely a test in patience.

Dear sir, in behalf of all your subscribers, it would be more beneficial for rookies like us, to learn the steps before flow coating. How you 600 grit sanded. To be exact. Thank you very much for adding this much needed step. Otherwise, You're just showing off your clear coating abilities. And we don't learn from that, quite frankly. Tyvm.

When you flow coat are you using 10-12 inches away from the panel instead of the 5/6 inches. It looks like the overlap is about 75% Thanks for the grear information. Rick D.

Also had a silicone issue at our shop one week, turned out it was a contaminated batch of gun thinners for cleaning.
@TheGunmanRAW6 жыл бұрын
Had that one before too. Some solvent recycling companies get inks from printers and they have lots of oil in it so can contaminate. So many things it can be, hard to pinpoint sometimes

Quick question. How do you keep your wax and grease remover spray bottle pump o ring from wearing out from the chemical. The pump o ring? I have wax and grease remover in the same looking sprayer and can’t get it to pump after 2 weeks of chemical being in it. Thanks a million

What size tip do you use for high solids clear in your pro lite? I have a tekna copper which I love I use 1.3 for high solids clear. But I've heard of guys using 1.2 with great results. I was wandering if you have ever experminted with a 1.2. Thanks for all the great videos your the man.

Nice video gunny as usual. Yeah, it's hard to beat a Pro Lite for clear ain't it. LOL. I'm using my new Sata Jet 5000 RP at the moment with the 1.2 setup. Does a great job but still go back to my Vigilante from time to time. Still looking forward to using the DV1 in a little bit when it comes in. Paint some shit! Cheers

Hey Gunny! Great video as always :) I notice when you are wiping panels down with prepsol, you look to be using a tack cloth. Is this the case or are they just solvent wipes? If they are tack cloths, do you not find the tacky coating is left as residue on the panel when using solvent?

I think he is able to do it because he bakes it. There might be a more experienced painter that can answer that better but that would be my guess.

Good for you , dumping the alcohol. ....it's gotta be the worst., me myself I personally hate it, I lost my father and both my uncle's (his brothers) early due to alcoholism, I never did really enjoy drinking, don't get me wrong though in my early 20s I drank like a fish!!! But now 20yrs later just the thought of it makes my skin cringe!! My bad habit was popping pills I kid you not I used to eat about 20/30 norcos a day along with 4/6 oxycotin (40mg) ,then at bed time to fall asleep I would eat another 6 somas, how I never overdosed is beyond me, but having 2 kids that need you and watching $100k get drained out of your bank account in less 2 years is motivation to kick the habit!!....it's been almost 2 yrs now since I've took any type of pain peel and honestly I feel great.......don't get me wrong I have my bad days just like everyone else but I also have a cannibus club literally 2 blocks away so I do get by just fine........keep on keeping on! And don't think about that bottle and you'll be just fine!!!...the stars will align perfectly in your favor! !!
