I love homemade chicken soup. I don't think I ever make it the same why twice. I just made some a couple of days ago. I added lots of cabbage to mine. I no longer eat pasta due to health issues, but sometimes I'll add a can of garbanzo beans to the soup. They have a texture that I like and they also soak up the flavor of the broth. Chicken is a great addition to a weight loss diet---healthy, filling and a real comfort food that your body loves.

Hello, just wondering you said you don't use pasta for health reasons? I have just got diagnosed with IBS and colitis and pasta seems to stop me up it's awfully painful diagnoses is that why you don't use pasta? I love cabbage also and just got some today, I'm thinking about not putting noodles in mine as well for health reasons, but I've never had it this way and dang it I love noodles but how is it with just cabbage and no noodles? If you could get back to me that would be great God bless.

I always boil my chicken so that I have that good rich hearty bone, skin, and fat Broth! That's what makes your soup so good! I do mine almost exactly like you're making yours! I do add seasonings but only a few because the Broth, Chicken, Veggies, Salt and Pepper add about all the Flavor you need! I made a huge Pot the day after Christmas! After all that rich food and sweets of Christmas, I just wanted a good hot bowl of some good ole Chicken Noodle Soup! I did use Egg Noodles because we like them and I have several bags in my Pantry! When I find anything on sale, I buy all I can, even if we don't eat it much because I have a big family and they're always needing something or maybe one of my Neighbors! I do like making Gift Baskets if someone is not feeling well to kind of help them out! My Granddaughter, her husband and both of her Babies are all sick with the Flu. The baby (1yr old boy) came down sick Christmas morning and her (2yr old daughter), her hubby and herself all were sick by Christmas night! They all 4 in the ER Christmas Night with the Flu... They're still very sick. Please Pray for them. Another Granddaughter broke her Jaw Tooth Friday afternoon late and has been in horrific pain since! She went to ER and they gave her an Antibiotic and Motrin 600mg for pain. She has 3 babies herself and her hubby is out of town. Please keep her in your prayers also. Thank you Becky! Happy New Year! God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤

I have started buying those 10# bags of chicken leg quarters and roasting it up in a roasting pan with a bit of rotisserie seasoning on each piece and I dump in the fat pieces to give the liquid this makes after it is all cooked. I will either stack the quarters in whole or cut the legs apart from them so it is easier to move the pieces around to fit. Cover and roast at 425 degrees for 80 to 90 minutes depending on the thickness of the meat on the bones. I usually default to 99 minutes. I pull the roaster out at the end of the time and take the lid and set it ajar to the pan and let it all cool for a bit. Once cooled down will use a baking sheet as a work surface to bring the quarters out to and will debone all of them breaking the chicken into bite sized pieces then putting into a bowl for later. Once everything is deboned will work at saving the stock it creates in cooking. Will fish out any fat or skin pieces left in it then will save it off into 2 cup containers and freeze it until needed for a casserole or other recipes. It makes some of the richest stock I have ever had the pleasure of using. Is a great stock base with which to use in chicken pot pie. Most times one bag makes between 4 & 6 pounds of chicken. I bag it in freezer bags getting the air out of them and pressing them flat so they will defrost after being frozen a bit quicker than if it is in a giant lump of chicken. Freeze it all up for recipes all for about $8 total. Takes about 20 minutes of prep and another 20 minutes of deboning and packaging to finish this not accounting for the cooking time.

That’s good you prepare the leg quarter that way . Because from my experience those bag leg qtr tend to have lots of fat and can make your soup greasy .

I have boiled a whole chicken removed it and if I have time I leave the liquid overnight to cool and then skim off all the fat the next day . Then I use this to make my soup. The rotisserie chicken seems like a good way if you’re in a hurry.

I've made chicken noodle soup for over 50 years and us old folks like to say to cook the chicken with the bone in it "for medicinal purposes." No scientific studies at all, just Grandma said so, that's why. I picked up a tip or two watching this but I do have to say that I cook my noodles on the side, just not mushy and add at the final 10 minutes. Always good to see how someone else makes something.

We always used thick cut kluski noodles at our restaurant. Egg noodles can break down easily. What I found that is so good is fettuccine noodles broken thirds. Your soup looks wonderful. I can't wait to try it. You have different seasonings than I have ever used or seen in chicken noodle soup. The honey and the lemon, for instance. I love the method that you use for cooking your chicken and collecting the broth. I just learned something new today by that.

I’ve been making homemade chicken noodle soup for a long time and I’ve used chicken leg quarters in it to stretch food $. My sister taught me this recipe and she didn’t use any spices except salt/pepper. But the onions, celery and carrots and bone in chicken broth gave it all the flavor it needed. We sliced our celery and carrots about 1/4 inch thick and had big chunks of chicken, I love it chunky. She passed away this July and I’ve always thought of her when I made it. This reminded me of her. Thank you for sharing this recipe, it is very good and tastes so much better than canned chicken noodle soup.

There is nothing better than homemade soup and yours looks awesome. When I shortcut and use a rotisserie chicken from the store I pull almost all the meat off the chicken , set it aside then boil the whole bird carcass to get those wonderful flavors into the soup then add the rest. The bones really makes a difference in the flavor. I love the garlic in my soup too.

Knowing me, I ramp up the chicken noodle soup just a little bit. I’d put some vegetables, of course bell peppers, onions and then just maybe a couple tablespoons of sour cream to thicken it up a little bit and then of course I’d put some cheese in it. That’s chicken noodle soup Old blind sunny style.

i live alone.... and rarely ever get company.... so i do not use fresh ingredients due to they go bad before i can use them. so i am all about dry, or canned. fresh is 100% ultimate but if you cant use it before it goes bad... its a waste. im not into thin soups... im into creamy. it fills you up and lasts longer... now just need home made bisquits with that and your golden ;];];];]

You can add a cream of chicken soup to make this a creamy soup, it works. But this soup is very hearty and filling if you put plenty chicken in it.

Looks good. Have you done a video on wilted lettuce. My mom made it when she had a garden and grew a leaf lettuce (not head lettuce). I know she used bacon grease, vinegar and sugar but I don’t remember what else and mom has passed away

Do you ever use an electric pressure cooker for making meals or dishes? I've found that there are a lot quick and easy things to make in them!
@TheHillbillyKitchen3 күн бұрын
Not usually. I think it tastes better on the stove. I need to make more videos for those recipes though, because a lot of people love them and that's the only way they can cook. Thank you for watching! God bless you!

I've heard you are in for bad cold weather in January. I worry about the people who were affected by the hurricane and don't have good housing.

I have a stupid question for you: what's the difference in yellow and white onions? Thank you for your help. And sorry to be a bother.
@TheHillbillyKitchen2 күн бұрын
You're not a bother. Yellow onions are more tender and easier to caramelize. White onions are crisper and better if you're eating them raw. Yellow onions are also cheaper. Thank you for watching! God bless you!
