I think what is lost on some of the people on this podcast is that the reason Lauren was the star of Laguna/Hills is that she was good at putting her true feelings out there. Stephen and Kristin talk about her emotional maturity on their podcast. Out of that, she was caught off guard by people who were behaving in certain ways for the sake of the show, so she then put up her guard with a lot of people because she didn't know who was genuine with her and who was using her for the show. That's why she then separated herself from most of them when she left the show.

I felt the exact same way. Interesting that the producer left at the end of this season because he was not into the show anymore but kind of alluded to the realness of the first 2 seasons. Then points out the real relationship between Brody and Lauren and how after that she did not trust anyone who wanted to date her on the show. Brody and Spencer used these girls for fame. It may have worked out for Heidi and Spencer but watching this episode pretty much confirms to me that Lauren did not want a drama filled show with fake people. Audrina, Frankie and Brody acting like they made the show good with it were kind of gross. I was happy watching it before Spencer and Brody came on. Seems to me the fake stuff came from cast members coming on and self-producing and now they are all bent out of shape that the public believed them.

Lauren was the star of this show. If the other castmates were planets, she is the sun. These people would literally not be famous without her - to be fair, they kind of aren't. This whole episode is pure conspiracy theory. Spencer and Heidi did it. They essentially admitted it in later seasons. It isn't rocket science. I think these guys have been drinking too much of the amnesia water, trying to deflect blame to some shadowy figures. What bothers me has always been the lack of empathy for Lauren. How this rumour affected her, affected her parents, affected her siblings who were teenagers at the time, affected her friends etc. It's really indicative of the kind of people that these people are.

there is no accountability at all! i feel like i’m back in high school listening to them deflect and defend what happened. what spencer did was horrible to lauren snd to this day, audrina, brody, frankie remain silent. i can see WHY lauren cut all ties to The Hills and the cast. the producer was the only one who expressed any real sympathy and feeling for lauren. i much preferred the laguna beach podcast with steven and kristen because they could at least be 100% real and admit when they acted terribly or shouldn’t have said something. i vote to cancel this podcast or replace frankie and brody and bring on people who can elevate this podcast to a real authentic level. but it’s really hard to admit they were all a part of something toxic that capitalized on peoples feelings and reputations.

Everyone here trashed Lauren but today Frankie really victim blamed by saying “well if it were true then isn’t it the fault of the two people who made the sex tape for telling people about it in the first place?” First of all, a sex tape never came out. It’s interesting to me that IS what the show is about (albeit indirectly) and why I watched….it was compelling to watch Lauren try and make it through the obstacle course of all these fake ass folks, and storylines-that’s the real arc of the show. When she finally leaves, out the back door no less, it’s a moment of triumph as she is chauffeured away from the “Hills verse” forever…kinda like the Truman Show.

15 mins in and I’m already over this episode thinking about how Heidi aint $h!t for not showing up. 1. I think I can speak for everyone when I say “we all knew Heidi would be avoiding this episode!” Who knows she may be in the 2nd part though. 2. I love it when the producers come on because there is no bs. Even this producer basically said he thinks Spencer started the rumor and that he was with Heidi to get famous. Clearly he had the same perception as we did. 3. Again they didn’t ask if Lauren had “all this control” of who could and could not be on the show. 4. Spencer does admit and so does Heidi that Spencer started the rumor right before they get married in season 5. It seems how Brody was talking about the rumor being good for tv makes me think him and Spencer both started it and that’s why Heidi tried to pin it all on Brody when she was talking to Jen Bunney about it. I mean if Spencer legit went up to Jason the producer and said this story is gonna come out. I mean c’mon the kid did it. Regardless if it was to make a good storyline or not. He tried to damage Lauren’s image. 5. Yes this was Lauren’s show and she did get famous for it, but she wanted to do it to start her fashion career. She wanted to get her foot in. She did T care for the fake people that came with it and no one can blame her for being so jaded. It’s fine and dandy that the other cast members wanna get used by people, but I love that Lauren had such high morals and kept herself grounded and THAT is why so many people love her. She dipped in the middle of season 5 got her career going and that is it. Can’t blame her for not wanting anything to do with the rest of the cast because seems like they don’t have the same values as she does, i.e when they said they were happy about the rumor because they all got big checks after that. Not giving two shits about how it affected Lauren

My respect for Brody and the rest keeps dwindling. Acting like the sex tape rumor was great for their wallets while not recognizing that Lauren was serious about launching her career and how damaging this must have been for her....just felt a bit low class from all of them. If I were to make a guess after watching all of these, Lauren was a serious person and did care about her image and future. She didn't plan to keep inserting herself into reality TV all of her life for a paycheck, but had ambition.

Having a rumor like that being made about you is not normal and is truly damaging. I think Lauren even went on Tyra’s talk show and talked about how she was scared about what young girls would think of her after that and maybe even try to make a rape of their own not knowing if that was true. Listen truly cares about her reputation and her fan base as well and never wants to steer us down a bad path. I’ve always loved that about her. And not to mention a rumor like this could’ve also made other fashion designers probably look at her in a different light as well and not a serious business woman/fashion designer. Audrina was with Lauren throughout all of that too and she did say it was a big deal for Lauren but still doesn’t want to admit it was Heidi and Spencer. I’m sick of everyone praising Spencer at his amazing “production skills” it’s sick!

Also in a later episode Brody and Lauren sit down for dinner and he tells her Spencer was the one who started the rumor. Not sure why he's acting like he doesn't know who did it.
