I’ve had great luck using a heat gun to light my smoker tube. I love giving smoked cheese away for Christmas.

I've got an old gas grill that I took the dead burners out of. It is my cheese smoker. Sometime I'll use the side box smoker if outside temp is getting warm. I also cut the blocks into club cracker sized chunks.

Nice. Always good to have some smoked cheese around.

Put them vertical. Or stock with second grill.

How long will the cheese stay good refrigerated in the sealed bags?

Great video. Waiting on my smoke tube to come in this Friday in time for Christmas cheese. Where did you get the paper?
@TheHollarBBQ Жыл бұрын
Pretty sure I got it from Amazon.

Great idea. What type of pellet flavor (wood) did you use, or does it matter? Also, have you smoked nuts before, seems like it would probably be the same process.
@TheHollarBBQ4 жыл бұрын
The pellets are oak, hickory, and mesquite. I have never done nuts but I bet would come out fantastic. I would start with 1 hour for smoke to test. Thanks for watching.

Hi, Mr. Hollar. New viewer here and certified cheese lover! Just thought I'd say, besides than you for the video, is if you give cheese lovers a paltry 4 ounces of cheese for a gift - well, you won't have those friends next year!!! Be more generous, my friend. I'd suggest 8 hours of each to three very dear friends with one set for yourself. I told you I love cheese. Thanks for a good video.

where do you get the Tillamook blocks that size?
@TheHollarBBQ3 ай бұрын
I get them at Costco. I also live about an hour and a half from where it’s made.

Good idea. I’ll have to get going on that. I’ll have to hide it from the kids though. They usually eat it before it gets a chance to cool down. Happy Thanksgiving to you guys!!

You too man. You smoking a turkey?

Id assume that after you vac seal it & let it rest in the fridge for 3 weeks you can freeze what you're not going to eat right away

Sure. I never have to because we go through it.

Looks good! What device did you use to vacuum seal?

It’s just a food saver we got a long time ago. Works good for this.

Those halves of halves are not near enough for a friend lol. If it was a friend of mine they would get a whole block.

Thanks for the great video! I have the same setup as you (pit Barrell and smoking tube). However, I live in warm climate. Any tips on keeping barrel temp down? Thought about putting ice tray in barrel but not sure exactly where.
@TheHollarBBQ3 жыл бұрын
You could put a tray of ice on the rack then elevate the cheese over the ice. Or maybe smoke it at night. Maybe its cooler then?
@dblaylock223 жыл бұрын
@@TheHollarBBQ I’m going to experiment with it and hopefully have a plan if the temps get too high.

What does the state of world affairs have to do with giving sweets as a gift? I don't get it.

I’m guessing this was filmed during the great covid panic of 2020-21.
