I don't like that the bots will be passive now. Manoeuvring bots into harassing your enemies is a great option to have when a player ragequits. Maybe players who bot out should forfeit their ability to gain rank points from that game if they don't rejoin within a certain timeframe, like by the next turn or within 5 minutes or something.

Nothing more satisfying than a comeback win! One of my favs! I just did it on Europe Advanced, down to 11 troops because of a bad neighbor noob We could have easily gone for 1+2 but he "chose" to get 5th in the end ;-) I almost went for the suicide strat with set on 3 (Turn 4), but he was just too strong (had rolled 4 on 3 twice without a loss) So I went on the other side of the board - good choice

Faced somene doing the bot-out Strat yesterday it really sucks. At that point we were 3Players. He was already at odds with the other one (one sidedly messed with the other players, was in a really bad position, played honestly pretty bad, like going for SA and NA after taking Australia in Round 2 while continuesly messing with everyone not even befriending someone, breaking bonuses of other players when he has no lead in troops and just a 7 guard defence on australia) Meanwhile me and the other surviving player were both allies, so he had the least chance. So he botted out when he realised he was loosing. So obviously as a player you have to contain the other player to some degree and don't care about few left sparks of the bot. My ally didn't realise that he came back and started to one sidedly push me out because I betrayed him... The Bot Out strat guy came back and build up again (while switching his play style to resemble a bit to a bot at first until he gained upper hand...) I'll just play progressive from now on it feels less satisfying since you can't snowball through the game by stratigizing who you ally with who you attack where you block and were to interfere etc. But when you bot out you're at least dead...

Didnt attack or defend borders against each other all game. 1 of them just suddenly stacked up and went straight for me when the 4th player got weak. This was close. I definitely think there were a few better moves than what you did at some points during the game. But, maybe they wouldn't have really helped since red was very much following the Kill Pete Strategy rather than not allow Asia to be held by the bot. This game of yours was very similar to another one that you encountered I think a month ago. It was almost the same situation, and I have confirmed from this that you don't really know what to do at that point when you are cornered by the bot in Australia. But, you definitely improved since last time you basically allowed the bot to block your Australia's exist which allowed the bot to keep the bonus and stack against Australia which the bot followed by demolishing you, and that took only 1 to 2 turns for the bot to obtain his dominance. Here, in fact, you were dominant and did not allow the bot to hold Asia, which made you survive longer and earn 2nd place. I would have however risked 3rd place and rolled my last big stack against the bot to break his continents rather than kill red, and hope that red would keep attacking yellow, that way you would have rebalanced yellow and probably fought for a better chance at the win.

@@TheKillPeteStrategy Very fun game to watch, and it's much easier to comment having seen how it all plays out, but my thought on it... Two turns of interest - the first starting at 56:21. Red has just shown good-will and equalized the bot, rolling a bot 41 stack to let you back into the game (admittedly, after dicking around for a while). You turn around and drive a knife in his back on your turn by breaking South America. Ultimately that bonus is irrelevant to your long term game, and you breaking provokes him into dropping everything into you. I don't think you got enough value out of breaking him, vice stabilizing your Aus position against the bot. It may be possible to recover from this position though, as you both (Red and you) retain relatively equal material to the bot at that point. Your following turn is the tipping point (I think). The turn starting at 57:56 is a very decisive turn. You are all at around equal positions, but the bot has 3 cards and is poised to pick up both Asia and Africa. You choose to roll Red's 20 (which he stupidly blocks you into attacking with the F you move back after you broke him--plenty of shared blame here). I think the play here is to go out north through the 9 and position in Alaska to preserve the Asia break. Instead you hit his 20 and leave him with no material of note while simultaneously conceding Africa and Asia to the bot (which it will hold no matter what). By the end of the bot's next turn (58:41) it has 51 troops and strong enough guards that you cannot take Asia from it (and neither can Red), along with 4 cards. What little you have is totally out of position. The following turn you don't have the strength to hit the bot or break any bonuses and it jumps to 80 troops, takes Europe, and breaks your Aus (ending the turn with you on 26 and Red on 19). At that point your only choice was to try to roll red for 2nd place--but you very easily could have ended up with 3rd if the bot had chosen to roll you in Australia with the 18). I understand the decision making (Red not a reliable actor in the ways you'd hoped against the bot), but I think the the 56:21 turn, and even more certainly the 57:56 turn are you making moves to play for 2nd place, instead of play for a potential win. Almost seemed like you were just trying to race / force an end game that you couldn't win from. Was there a time crunch on this because the game had already run relatively long? Just trying to understand your reasoning.

There’s always this talk about how players are playing fixed in progressive. Sometimes people have a real problem playing progressive in fixed. The balance of the game is very important. Keeping your “enemy” alive is super important to not give the game away to the other opponent.

What would you do in this scenario? Does it make sense to wait and see if your remaining human opponent will work with you?
@riskyfil89552 жыл бұрын
@@TheKillPeteStrategy To be honest I thought you were crazy. I kill my opponent as quick as possible. If I am losing to the bot in the end I flag the game. Here is why. If no human players remain the game does not count. My account is ranked high enough second brings me down. OK for killing my opponent. I have tried to get them to work with me before or had them try. It ends up being a 1v1 with a bot anyway or someone gets killed at the right time and then a 1v1 with a bot. Like what you did. So maybe if you are losing try to help them for a possible second and outside shot at first. But if you think you can win the 1v1 with bot you have to try.

I really like this game and enjoy the skill/experience required to win games (primarily in fixed). But games like this where players bot out and win anyways are really demoralizing for me. It’s one of the main reasons I don’t play very often anymore.
@TheKillPeteStrategy2 жыл бұрын
They've updated the game. Now there is an option for an inactive AI. This is a great change for fixed games.
@lucasr6482 жыл бұрын
@@TheKillPeteStrategy I saw that a few days ago but haven’t played around with it. I’m not sure how I like that dynamic either. On the one hand it does fix the problem with players botting out and allowing the AI to win for them. But it also changes the dynamic when they leave. So if you’re in a 3 player match as the weakest player and somebody leaves then you can automatically be killed off because the 3rd player doesn’t have to worry about the AI eating them. I guess we just have to pick our poison.
