I hate how many of my games go like that. Get bad neighbored immediately, bot comes in to obliterate any hope of taking another bonus, forced to cap stack. And I really will never understand why people like Red go bad neighbor for no reason. Dude has his position completely on lock but instead opts to make a middle player, who is also quite vulnerable to every other player in the game, his enemy. Madness.
@TheKillPeteStrategyАй бұрын
Perhaps he will learn after losing enough games.
@stevesartain5804Ай бұрын
When he put 8 on his cap we all thought as you did Pete " oh a small guard stack, oh thats reasonable".Then you could have heard a pin drop as he placed a 9th troop, like he had a little thought and we all knew he had probably decided to break you.
@zekelorАй бұрын
It is a (losing) strategy called "keep my immediate neighbor weaker than me. Red failed to realize that having a neighbor in the center of the board while they had an amazing defensive position against that player making them effectively invincible. Plus a free bot cap behind him.

I think it made perfect sense for Red to deny you the Alps. It was basically free to do so. Didn't even open up your cap. Plus taking out your Africa position to take away your ability to retaliate was particularly smart. He woulda cleaned up that whole game if he knew how to handle the endgame.
@nabedaneАй бұрын
100% agree with you. I hate bad neighbors as much as everyone else but there was no reason for red to let Pete establish himself in the middle if there was nothing Pete could have done to retaliate. I also disagree with Pete claiming turn 3 or so that red should have +20 already instead of breaking him. That's absolutely wrong. First, there was a lot for red to clean behind him. Second, breaking Pete cost red nothing so once they had the troops they did indeed snowball AND keep Pete weak. What won Pete the game was killing the bot which us surprising because he went negative but the insta card block on red who then just botted out because he can't handle advanced endgame and yellow shitting the bed...what a satisfying end. But without a set on 3 or if yellow sets on 4, red probably wins this botting out like a bitch
@espygaming5101Ай бұрын
Nah, what lost him the game was giving up, the reason he gave up was because he made an enemy on the 1st turn. Pete had no way in on him and he had a free cap behind him. If he took that early and put those few troops into orient and focused all energy there instead of taking alps he would have had it a turn earlier. Additionally he would have had less enemy's and Pete's troops would have been used against Reds enemies as they would have both been spiraling out to a different position. You are right that red massively flubbed late game but I disagree that makes his early play good. The paper math of course is good. Neighbor weak, me strong. But that fails to take into account people and their psychology. Specifically revenge. Pete essentially suued out on red because of red early play. These facts matter.
@nabedaneАй бұрын

@nabedaneАй бұрын
@espygaming5101 I am as well and I assure you if I had been gifted reds spawn I wouldn't have pissed the game away and bullied the biggest threat (Pete) out of the game for an easy snowball. There's different strategies in risk to success. I am a good neighbor when it makes sense but I'm not letting people, especially with strong middle caps, hold whatever they want and enable them to snowball and screw me later. Red wasn't even the bad neighbor here, it's a stupid discussion. When we talk about bad neighbors in the early game, we mean people who waste their troops breaking each other and keeping each other weak while others can snowball and crush you. Red kept Pete weak and snowballed. They did everything right in the early game and they lost the game because they didn't know how to push their advantage into a win. Them breaking Pete in the early rounds had nothing to do with their defeat. They lost because Pete had the balls to kill the bot, go all in and cardblock them and they botted out.

@forex_shark6042Ай бұрын
I actually think Red made the correct play at the start. Might not be the best way to snowball out of the gate but he kept the only other player with a good cap from snowballing in a way were he couldn't be retaliated against, but he messed up the end game bad.
@nabedaneАй бұрын
There was no endgame for red. They botted out the second the endgame starts. Biggest chicken but that's your average risk player nowadays. Quitting the moment it gets tough and you have to start thinking and can't just mindlessly attack and snowball without resistance. Agree with your take on reds early game though, there was no reason for them to gift Pete a bonus
@espygaming5101Ай бұрын
@nabedane there are definitely reasons to give him an early bonus. Means 1 less enemy for some time, based on this board Pete could bot get in on him so Pete would naturally use his troops on the other players. His early in on Pete essentially caused Pete to su into him. Now, that doesn't mean Pete's su was optimal but people, their emotions, and reactions matter. The "reasons" for not doing it played out this game.

Love how yellow pissed away an easy win after you did all the hard work against pink bot, red player and then red bot. All they needed to do was using their troops advantage wisely. Having a set on 3 is sth like a 31% chance. It's not that unlikely and it did not set on 3 all the time. There's like under 20% chance of not having a set on 4. Couple this with Pete having a set on 3 to kill yellow, now THAT is unlikely.

@G1L1AMАй бұрын
35:20 If you don't want the bot putting troops in Eastern Europe, you should not put guard stacks next to the bot's territory. Bots like to add troops next to stacks, so the guard stacks will only attract more troops. The best way to defend against this, is to roll down the stack as much as possible like you did, but then leave all adjacent territories as 1s. Then you just put a couple small guard stacks behind the 1s (in Russia) to defend. If the bot for some reason still adds a few troops and hits the 1s - usually happens on trade-ins, when it has extra troops to put down -, you just undo that and leave the adjacent territories as 1s again. Note that the guard stacks behind the 1s should also be small, so the bot doesn't fortify any big stacks to it when it does run into them. I've successfully used this bot manipulation strategy quite a few times to win 1v1s with massive bots, where I got cheap cards this way while also keeping my bonus(es), whereas my opponent had to spend way more troops and got completely surrounded.
@medoanwar9854Ай бұрын
Interesting technique there
@nabedaneАй бұрын
You're right however the bot touching so many caps, it was unlikely to add a lot to the 1 touching the 10 stacks. Leaving Russia completely undefended they risk the bot adding 30 troops on a set getting into Russia and fortifying a huge stack into it. I play with automated bots like you but the small guards to never let the bot in your bonus works as well

I don't understand why you were hating on red for breaking dinaric alps so much. Sure, he would have had a massive 2 hold with 40+ troops each turn, but you would have also gotten eastern europe, russia and scandinavia. He is a beginner, so he likely just broke you without thinking too much, but he effectively stopped your entire progression to the point you couldn't hold or conquer any bonuses.

@@TheKillPeteStrategy I do understand why you were critiquing his play, it absolutely can be a mistake to not only disturb your neighbors on the map and delay your own progression, but I just think you might be looking at it a bit one-sided, since by his play your entire progression got stopped with just 1/2 brakes
@nabedaneАй бұрын
@exa4564 breaking Pete was not delaying his own progression though and there was nothing Pete could have done to retaliate. Pete just hates bad neighbors and thinks he should always be allowed to hold boni he can't defend. It was satisfying to watch Pete win this in such a spectacular fashion but red didn't lose this game by being a bad neighbor, au contraire, it put them in an excellent spot and they were just too stupid to play an endgame and Pete got lucky at the end. He bullied his way into being too strong to be killed in the 3 player, and botted for second, such a horrible game design philosophy that red gets away with this... It just sucks, cause I love bot manipulation, but I can't stand brain rot players like that so much to the point that I REFUSE to use automated bots anymore, cause 9 times out of 10 I end up taking second
@nabedaneАй бұрын
Don't see it like that. Red did not bot out to get second, they botted out the second their snowball got addressed and they had no idea how to play an endgame against players who know how to play. That second might have gained them some ranking points but they are the kind of player who bots out in the open when they don't like their spawn and get 5th or 6th way more than 2nd so that's meaningless. And yellow didn't deserve second more the way they shat the bed so doesn't really matter who got it
