Hey Pete! Thanks so much for the content! The KZbin algorithm sent your videos my way about a month or two back, and I'm so thankful. I rarely played Risk as a kid, but always loved strategy games (chess, backgammon, Catan). Your content made me appreciate and understand the game in a whole new way. I prefer NA over Europe. It’s a 3 point guard vs 4 point, and generally NA is out of people’s way so you don’t get unnecessarily slammed by people.

Knowing the thing about the cards, you can see that in smaller maps you have a bigger chance of getting a joker, therefore you always have a better chance of having a set. So my question is, do you ever consider that when playing and you are gambling that an opponent doesn’t have a set?

Oh wow, I never knew there were only two jokers! Always kinda thought there were more, but that makes sense. So when cards run out, the regular cards get recycled back in when that happens? Or as they are traded in by players? I'm assuming the former? And one would also assume that the jokers do NOT get cycled back into the deck and can only be played once each?

I'm pretty sure the cards get shuffled back into the deck right after use, and jokers go back too, a.k.a., can be played multiple times each game.

I've tried to find out before, but Google was no help. Do you know how many of each type of card there are? Are they roughly equal, like 12/13 each of dudes, cavalry and artillery? Or are they weighted more towards dudes for instance?

Pete still early in my watching. But you mention how much better na is to Europe. Why is that? Just because of the board itself or is that always the case?

NA only has a three point guard, with each guard point only accessible via a single territory. So if you can negotiate one treaty then you only have two guard points. Europe has four border territories, which is already much worse (25% stack in each, instead of 33%, if evenly distributed). This means, for instance, that if all other things are equal and no alliances, that Greenland will ALWAYS have more troops than Iceland. So NA theoretically has the option to invade anytime they get cards. But that's only half the problem. With the exception of Iceland, each of Europe's borders is accessible from MULTIPLE other territories simultaneously. This leaves room for many more players to attack and many more routes for those players to take. Europe is essentially undefendable while Africa is an enemy
