Thank you for finally doing another rising sun mini.

You are very welcome! Sorry it took so long! Patreon didn't want me to give this to a patreon so I had to figure that out first with them before painting it.

Planning on painting this one soon. I've never realized it's standing on one of those smaller monsters

can you do a video on the basic painting technique like blending dry brushing and shading if you havent already?

Great idea thank you! I haven't done a "basics" series yet but perhaps I should :)

So happy to see you paint Rising Sun again ! Good work on this one, it looks great and colorful. Yes, I really appreciate to get your color palet for every painting. And it's not a statue, more probably a Komainu (an other monster from the game). ;)
@TheKingofAverage6 жыл бұрын
I'm happy to finally be able to paint it again as well! Had to sort out some stuff with Patreon not wanting me to send it out so that took a while. As for Komainu - I forgot the name while recording the video :P Would have butchered how to say it anyway lol.

I love my silver. It's from Montana and you can't see any flakes and the Coverage ist Beautiful!

oh nice! That's my problem with a lot of TMM's is that they just look like glitter paint half the time :P
@wolvenwitch61316 жыл бұрын
I would search for air brush paints. The Pigments there have to be realy small.

oh! You know I've heard of that. Need to try some out for sure!

Thanks! I think so as well :) This one is definitely the most dynamic one of the bunch thanks to his custom base :)
@Singuy8885 жыл бұрын
Hi, did you prime the dragon? I always wonder how the mini take the paint without priming.
@TheKingofAverage5 жыл бұрын
Yes I sure did :) If you want to see how it works without painting you can actually see a video where I misses a spot here at the 1:49 mark: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWWsk2h6ibKJeJY Really it depends on your paint, but if it won't work it REALLY won't work. Best to just use primer :)
@Singuy8885 жыл бұрын
@@TheKingofAverage I painted the panda bear with no priming as a test. Paint latched on no different than primed. O hate priming so may go forward with no priming from now on.
@TheKingofAverage5 жыл бұрын
What paint did you use? It really depends on the paint. For citadel for instance the base colors should work well enough but you might struggle with layer paints. Did you at least seal it with a varnish?
@Singuy8885 жыл бұрын
@@TheKingofAverage I used army painter paints only. Will attempt this dragon with no priming and see how it goes. Maybe wet blending base coat is not idea but I usually blend base coat with an airbrush

@@TheKingofAverage Putting on the finishing touches. Let me know if you want me to send you a picture if you're curious about how it looks without priming.

Awesome work! And fast too for such a big mini! I got curious about something : you seem to be using Army Painter color more and more as time pass, but I don't think I've seen you use their washes. Is that just a preference or have you seen a gap in quality vs what you use?
@TheKingofAverage6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I agree he's definitely the easiest and quickest dragon in Rising Sun :) As for Army Painter, I actually like Vallejo more for normal colors but like AP more for metallics. Regarding their washes, I actually really like them! In fact I just used some for this week's video. I tend to is them when I only need a little vs a lot like this dragon because Citadel's pots are easier for large spaces like this, especially when I need to work quick. I'm also missing the colored washes for AP so will use Citadel for those always.

I'm not sure about Rising sun.... too many armies... ok good armies but too many... I do prefer minis good for a dungeon... in case oriental ones... but I've registered the same about Massive Darkness
@TheKingofAverage6 жыл бұрын
I can understand that - there is a TON of them that's for sure! They are fantastic quality though. Nothing beats great dungeon minis like Massive Darkness! I know a few people who backed it just for D&D minis :D
