Hi, i'm a very new player in figure painting (primed some models for the first time today) and I must say that your work on thoses mini is stellar. Seen some of vids for rising sun and its really itching me to get on painting my rising sun as well, but i'm going to practice on blood rage first. When i get to rising sun, i hope i'll have enought experience to make good results. I'll definitely come back and get some inspiration from you.

Welcome to the hobby! I am so glad to hear I could help inspire! Blood Rage is a fantastic game with some great miniatures - really need to paint more of it myself. Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

I'll second what KoA said - Welcome to the mini painting realm dude! Blood Rage is a fantastic place to start! Lots of great minis in that game!

I think this is your best work to date. I think you did a great job highlighting up the whites - not an easy thing to do :) I don't know if this is your personal favorite, but it's mine for sure!

Thank you very much! It is certainly one of my favorites and that's represented in my desire to paint the whole Koi clan next. Love the robes! For me it's hard to beat that Oni of Skulls though :D I am very glad to hear you liked this one so much!

I've been watching your videos for some time now, and it's marvelous to see how much you have learned over the last half-year or so (I took up painting at about the same time you started posting videos). Really inspiring stuff and a gorgeous result on this mini. Have you considered using Vallejo Surface Primer as a brush-on? Don't have to worry about filling in details, as it "shrinks" a lot. Plus, it very much helps in painting white or near-white, as you can comfortably prime to close to full coverage in white. Spray primers are too much risk for me.

Thank you, glad you've liked the videos! :) Glad to hear you've started the hobby as well, I find it very relaxing and rewarding and love seeing the improvement. I get comments on old videos sometimes and is always fun to see the video again to see how far I have come. I haven't heard of that product before but will certainly check it out!

Vallejo Surface Primer is designed to be airbrushed, but works just as well with a brush. One thin layer and you're good to go. It can be harsh on brushes, so I just use a cheap-o craft brush with it. It can be had on Amazon at a mild markup, but you might be able to find it slightly cheaper at either your FLGS or a hobby shop. Comes in several colors, but black and white are all you need (can just mix it for grey). smile.amazon.com/dp/B0063TQ7HW

This is the primer I use btw. It's good stuff!

Via airbrush?
@BandaInku6 жыл бұрын
The King of Average - Yup! And I've done it with just a brush. I've got the Ghost Grey and black. The black works better via paint brush than the grey in my experience, but that's just me. Want to try out the white and other colors they've got. (There's like 10 or so colors) I mention something about that in the beginning of my BR clan videos if I remember correctly. Like Brewster said though - they do kinda reck your brush so don't use one that's dear to your heart.

YAY!!!! I'm currently busy with Kingdom Death though and is struggling with OSL. Any chance of doing those in the future? Expensive game though.
@TheKingofAverage6 жыл бұрын
Oh man the use of lanterns in that game bring HUGE OSL options. My favorite way of doing OSL is this: At the area you want to glow add extra highlights, about 2 levels higher than you normally would (brightness wise). Then, take a colors shade/wash of your choice and wash over that area. It'll tint the highlights to the correct color while also leaving the bright highlight as if light is shining there. You can see an example of it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXe2pJp_e9qDotEm22s As for painting KDM, I would absolutely *love* to, however I don't have it so unless it appears on my doorstep sometime or someone wants to have it commissioned it won't be happening anytime soon :( - Let me know if I can be of any help though!

Very impressive. Do you have Gloomhaven? There are 6 starting miniatures and then another 12 miniatures. Nobody on the youtube panted the 12. I wonder could you do that for us as a future project?
@TheKingofAverage6 жыл бұрын
Perhaps! I have heard great things about Gloomhaven but do not have it yet. If I get it I'll sure paint it up :D
@francoislatulippe71836 жыл бұрын
How do you decide the scheme of colors you are going to use? You often say that you look at the artwork for references but how do you otherwise plan which colors and washes gives you the bests results?
@TheKingofAverage6 жыл бұрын
I actually do a lot of planning where I look at color paints and then list Al of the paints and where they will go. I actually put the exact plan I use in the video description. As for know what techniques to use and whatnot, that comes with time and practice. As you paint more you get a good sense of what colors + technique end in what final look. I actually often use a color and them "shift" it with a wash for instance.

The King of Average that is very detailed information thank you! Do you happen to know if there is a product that could help represent sakura leaves on the base of the mini? I'm very unfamiliar with basing products and the only store that sells some near me only got glue and tuffs
@TheKingofAverage6 жыл бұрын
Ah, perhaps. As I said in the video they Green Stuff World sells a lot of different "leaf punches" and there are two that might have the general shape you are wanting: goo.gl/fzh6XG & goo.gl/iYPXDE I am in the same boat here. We have a hobby craft store but it focuses heavily on airplanes and railroads and whatnot instead of this sort of thing.
