@@joysedgwick812 😂🤣 being a New Zealander I never thought of that. I did watch a program once where they were building a stone wall ..it was fascinating and so clever. Just natural for me to think fence instead of wall 😆💐

Learned about it recently from the Arne and Carlos channel. Loving that Kate chose "O Come O Come, Emmanuel" for the musical interlude, one of my favorite Christmas songs. From being a child up until my late 40's I spent many many happy hours walking in North Yorkshire, weekends away, craft fairs, watching sheepdog trials, visiting ropemakers and the like . In my 50's I became ill, could no longer drive or travel and now at 60, I know I will never see such beautiful countryside again. It is so hard to imagine my world without the wild open countryside in it. But thanks to you, I can continue my journey through your travels and 'exploits' 😉 Bless you and Thank you so much x

Beautiful. Talking about the daylight robbery expression reminded me of others that I learned in Stratford upon Avon when doing the Shakespeare weekend. Upper crust - refers to the top of a loaf of bread. The bottom was always black from the bottom of the fire oven so you would slice it across, giving your important guests the better top bit. The guest became known as Upper Crust. Threshold - thresh being the stalks left from the wheat harvest, this was spread on the floor and a board was placed at the bottom of the doorway to stop it spilling out, to hold the thresh in. We think that baby carriers worn on bodies is a new thing but to keep crawling babies off the threshed floor (animals were often kept in there too) they used to be wrapped up in cloth and hung on a hook on the wall by the cloth! I know - imagine - "Mary hang our youngest on that hook", lol.
